Did You Guys See This Lightning Hit Infront Of Boat?
I had a street legal '98 husqvarna 250WR dirtbike that was first imported from Italy. I was out when the sky turned dark like night time. I knew one of those micro-bursts was coming. I was miles from home when I wicked the throttle and few home. I just made it but branches were falling all around me from the trees from the high wings. Another time we just launched my son's boat and were on the way to do some pike fishing when another nasty micro-burst hit. We had 4' waves. The lake was crowded and we were the pastimes off the launch it was that bad. I didn't know weTher to beach the boat or go to the launch. I can swim but I worried about all my tackle. But life does come first. I don't like it when the lightening is all around us. Every time those really dark clouds is a warning. Mother nature can get really unforgiving and nasty at times.

Line Piling Up On One Side While Respooling A Baitcaster Reel.
I don't remember who asked this a while back. About the line piling more on one side of the spool while respooling a bait caster reel. I found out that two things that cause this to happen. First you hand is too close to the reel, second it's off center to the centerline of the rod. This off center holding of the line will favor it to one side of the spool. I just had this happen while putting new line on my new bait casting reel. Bigbill

Winter Clothing - Outerwear
I was hunting in a long John upper shirt and a woolen shirt for most of my life until old age blind sided me. I now wear insulated hunting camo. The one piece suits or the bibs with the jackets. Anything that's one piece so our lower backs are covered from the cold. I been buying the marked down insulated camo clothes from BPS, CABELAS and SPORTSMANS GUIDE. The sportsmans guide gear insulated clothes are very warm too. On sale the bibs can be found for as little as $59. The one piece suit for around $99. Don't forget the long sleeve camo tee shirt to wear underneath. There very warm too. Even the camp sweat shirts are warmer too there tighter woven. I also wear 1,000grms of thinsulate boots too. These are very warm even on the ice, fishing too. I layer my clothing under my insulated bib or one piece suit if I'm sitting. My uncle would always preach to me to put on enough warm clothes, if it gets too warm you could remove some. If you don't put enough warm clothes on and you get cold you can't add anymore.

Espn Why No Dedicated Fishing Channel?
Of course ESPN has no dedicated fishing channel why are we as a whole chopped liver? How much money does our sport average per year? Please tell Me why the fishing shows are on Saturday mornings when we're out fishing? Then I see three channels at night of sports? Why don't we have an ESPN 24/7 channel dedicated to just fishing? I'm thinking of even having reruns of the older gad-about-gaddis the flying fisherman with his float plane, the awesome Jerry Mckinnis the man who really made the bass fishing what it is today including the bass masters. I was glued to the TV set watching these guys in black and white they go so far back. I would love to see these reruns of these guys, plus Jimmy Houston, Hank Parker, Bill Dance, the Infishermen guys, Roland Martin, even the bass pro guys and gals too. They could also have reruns of the bass tournaments, present and the past. I'm sure there is enough of the footage of the older bass shows to outlast my lifetime for sure. If these were shown during the winter we could do away with cabin fever. Our own 24/7 ESPN fishing channel. They could call it "Fishing then and now". Again I still wonder why there are fishing shows on Saturday mornings when we're all out fishing? How about a 24/7 hunting channel too? To be equal to us hunters too. With all the garbage on tv today I'd rather watch hunting and fishing shows weTher it's reruns or up to date shows. It would get my vote. Maybe we can get a 30 minute show for the manufacturers to strut there products and how to use them. It's a win/win for everyone weTher we fish or hunt or do both. I'd rather see my grandsons watching these shows rather than playing video games. Don't forget to take a kid fishing. I would pile all the neighborhood kids in my car and take them all fishing. Now there all adults and the first thing they tell me when I see them is remember when you took us fishing. I was happy to take them fishing. God bless, bigbill

Trouble With New Baitcaster
Being new to bait casting and switching from the 5'6" rods to the 6'6"/7' rods I find I whip them too hard when casting causing the spool to over spin causing my back lash. When I whip less I do better then I can fine tune the reel as I go.

Did You Guys See This Lightning Hit Infront Of Boat?
Me and my son are working in the garage as the wall started to crackle then a loud snap and bang as the hair on our bodies stood up. It has happened a few times to us at the old house. We hear the crackling and both say here we go again. Not a good feeling to attract lightening its not my friend.

Baitfish?
I put on a rapala matching the length of the baitfish. I carry the 2" rapala original floater in baby bass green, black and In blue. I seen small pickerel attacking a school of smaller bass fry and I put n the baby bass rapala and picked off the pickerel till it was calm. I realised the pickerel. I just couldn't handle my future catches being eaten by the pickerel. I played God for that moment but it didn't feel good maybe I was wrong.

Any Float Tubes Fisherman Here?
I wish I could use one but the snapping turtles from the size of the 30" tall tire on my jeep to 48" diameter shells have me worried. These guys have some really bad force when it comes to jaw pressure. The 48" one has a human sized head. I did notice they sit on the Rocky bottom trying to blend in as a rock and wait for something to swim by. I know I didn't spot it when it grabbed my timber doodle coming out of the weeds. He got the merry go round ride of his life too. But in the end he took my lure with him anyway I lose. When I hooked the 48" snapper it stuck it's head up as my son said you have a log, I said that's a turtles head. I wasn't the first one to hook him there was plenty of yellow braid on the ground. The story I got is he lost to this turtle too. My point is me out there in a float tube? Call me bait...

How Come We Dont See That Many...
Do you think I could be ahead and seeing where the market is going to go to fill a void or gap in a rod length selection?
-
How Come We Dont See That Many...
I would think the shorter rods would be the rage. I have some south bend or Shakespeare 6' bait casting rods but there not the backbone nor power of a bass rod. I guess as we move up in cost the rods become more bass worthy. I need to get out and browse more.

How Come We Dont See That Many...
New2bc4bass, Your right I'm still old school I need to step up an accept the longer rods. All my new bait casting rods are 6'6" mostly. I can cast farther using the longer rods. I guess I need to change. Your right the longer casts will put me closer to the Lilly pads that I couldn't reach from shore before. I'll look at wally world maybe just for one. Now if I could find the same, action, power, longer casting and feeling in a 6'? Kidding

Question For The Saltwater Guys
The difference between the saltwater and freshwater is the stainless eyes and possibly the reel seats. I find my saltwater rods much thicker diameter wise over my inshore rods. If you go to "fish and save" you can compare the different specs on some of them just to see the difference between them. I purchased a 7' saltwater for throwing my 9" castriac trout lure.

How Come We Dont See That Many...
I went out with my new 7' lighting rod and threw a 3/8oz jig a country mile with braid. I can cast this bait caster setup as far as my spinning setup. I didn't need the brakes turned on either. Does everyone mainly use the 7' bait casting rods?

Now My Misses And Her Bf Want To Go Fishing
Best friend, gal friend, there funny together. My thinking is if I get them hooked on fishing then it's easier to get a boat if everyone likes to go fishing. Plus the more people we have the more fun a day on the water can be.

How Come We Dont See That Many...

Morality Questions
Now I forgot to mention about the winter kill that happened during the winter when the ice was on. I talked with some ice fisherman and they told me that the ice was full of bass. And bigger bass too. I guess no one really fishes these places for bass like we do. There is a handful of guys and practically no boats. Since its rowboats with electric motors. There is no boat launch too. This is the largest place that I fish at. Now the question is do I remove bass or release them knowing the place was over populated once already do to the winter kill? I do take the 1 1/2# to 2# bass once a year maybe once a year. At my two other spots one has no boats allowed while the other one a row boat only no motors at all. Overall the bass are growing and not being really targeted or caught. Since my two buddies practice catch and release we'll have an overflow of bass again. Our government did a survey about the bass population and how to keep the numbers up without restarting up the bass hacheries again. They said to release the larger bass so they can breed to keep the population numbers up and take the smaller ones to eat. I say eat the crappies because they taste better. Ever roll a gutted catfish across a wood fired grill? Camping does have its perks. God bless, bill

Morality Questions
I personally would measure it and take a pic of it. Then have a replica make of her. I did nothing with my PB but my neighbor and my fishing buddy did show up to see it. Now I take a few smaller bass each year to feed my abandoned kittens that I find while fishing in the wilds. Some of them just fit in the palm of my hand there so small. I'd like to meet the people who do this. I put my new 7' whooping stick to work. The kittens who are dumped are traumatized when compared to the kittens I adopt normally from the ones who don't want then. No animal deserves this. Sorry.

Lews Spinning Rods??
I been using the Finor spinning reels with 4 ball bearings they manufacture those large gold colored saltwater reels for marlin and sail fish etc. I also use the okuma exipitor spinning reels with 10 ball bearings. Both reels are between $50 to $100. I been also using the Globe and Viva spinning reels too. I haven't had any problems with any of them yet.
