All I can say is just what happened to me. I was going to purchased a quantum Bill Dance spinning rod number 1234(example). Then I looked at another quantum rod that looked the same but no Bill Dance name on it but it was model 1234 exactly like the bill dance rod. But it was 2/3rds the cost of the BD rod. I don't buy the rods with the celebs name on them but I'm glad I looked at the model numbers. My point is does this go on with the higher priced rods too?

I been cleaning up my tackle room and I found two new baitcasting reels a Quantum Heat HT 400 and a Mitchell accupro last Friday I didn't know I had stashed away. Well today I found two more baitcasting reels a Shakespeare and a BPS reel both brand new and all four reels are the low profile reels and two pinnacle baitcasting rods. I was wondering are the pinnacle rods a decent quality rod? I also seen three larger baitcasting setups I need to dig out yet. I can't remember what I have stashed away.

My new $9.99 Shakespeare rod, my $54 Okuma Exipior reel and my $12 vicious 12lb line. I run very affordable setups. I have too many other hobbies. I recently spent $22 on a rod. I collect IH TRACTORS. cub cadets, farmall cubs, Int 154 loboys and restore them.

I started using weedless hooks on my Carolina rigs. As I raise it up and let it fall I keep in contact with my senko feeling for a double tap on the line I watch the rod tip as it falls. In fishing the split shot rigs we become line watchers for movement. While on my honeymoon we went fishing and camping after a trip to Niagara falls. I rented a row boat. I put on a inline spinner and handed the rod to my new wife. Over the weeds the line snagged so I thought. I took the rod and lost an 18" trout at the boat. Now fast forward years later I'm still catching neck for losing the fish. Fourty years later!!!!!!!! Is it a snag or a fish. I should of left the rod in her hands. Lessons learned. 40 years and still hasn't forgotten it.

I'll bet it's the line. Feel the line for roughness. I find in some bodies of water the water can be tough on line. I have no clue why. The only thing I see is oil on the surface of the water after a weekend of boating. I'm thinking it's the two stroke oil that's pooling up.

I have this crappie bait casting reel on the smallest bait casting rod I have ever seen. I also have the mini spinning outfit to go with the smallest bait caster too. I have no clue how to use the bait caster other than flipping or pitching it. It's like the older antique baitcasters but smaller in modern plastics.

Well I tell my misses I could be at the bar drinking it? Or at the casino throwing it away yet I'm ahead there but not hooked. Or chasing women which I'm too old to run. So that leaves me my fishing tackle which isn't a bad hobby. I am addicted to good looking equipment and lures. Fishing is my passion. The plastic I pay off every month. I haven't gone hog wild yet......

Ok what did you buy? I purchased, New Jigs in all sizes and colors from Siebert along with some plastics too. New Spinning Rods. I won a double prop 2" long crankbait in a frog pattern that I never seen before. These different patterns just hook me. I think I placed nine orders for new jigs. I have more tackle in my tackle room than most mom & pop bait shops have but I hardly have any jigs. I want to do more jig fishing with a crankbait rod. I have the drop offs to fish from shore too. Plus the cover and weeds for swim jigs. I'm also into the size and color thing for all my lures. Spinning rods and casting rods I found very affordable I really didn't need any but down the road if I don't buy them now they will cost me tripple later. I'm buying different rods for around $70 for four or five Shakespeare, Johnson, & zebco rods. The zebco rods look and feel great. Even the shakespeare stuff has come along way over my older Shakespeare equipment.

I fish a place deep in the woods that holds big bass like that. If you stand on the 4' elevated shore above the water you can see the long black lines moving in the water in the shaded areas across from me. Hint they eat sunfish.

I been using the Mann's hank Parker classic 1/4 oz white spinner bait with two gold Colorado or one is a Indiana blade I'm not sure I have brain fade tonight. I change the white skirt to the blue glimmer color. The blue glimmer color here seems to work the best. I put on a white mister twister 4" split double tail grub as a trailer. One shot of yum shad scent and it's good to go. I had awesome success with the Mann's 1/8oz classic spinner bait setup the same way but trimming the MT 4" split double tail grub trailer to fit the smaller hook. But they don't offer it anymore.

I was using my favorite bass scent one day and it was very slow. But when I switched to a garlic scent that's when the action started. Switching flavors worked. What are we going to switch to when the coffee bite slows down. Tea? Hot chocolate? Just kidding but do the fish learn our scents in fishing the same small places all the time? I know what lures are hot this year may not be as hot next year. These are small places. I think the fish do learn our lures.

I just rigged up one of those SK coffee shads using a weighted hook like KVD says in the you tube video. My hands smell like a great cup of coffee. I hope to try it once the down pours stop and we get some decent weather. It's been nothing but rain so I'm changing my line, lubing my reels and setting up my new bait casting rods. Bigbill

I been leaning towards the moly grease. I do like both. The reel with feel a bit more tight. But cranking it while watching tv will wear the moly into the pores of the metal thus eliminating all wear and reducing friction. In the end your reel will turn smoother and easier. Plus the gears won't wear out. I first started using moly in 1970. I tried it in drag race engines with high lift long duration camshaft with tripple valve springs that we're prone to wear out early. I put moly on the cam lobes, cam bearings, cam solid lifters, pushed ends, rocker arms, valve guides and valve stems. I burnished into the cylinder walls with a soft rag. I burnished into the crankshaft bearings and crankshaft itself. Between tear downs upon inspection I seen no wear like I seen in the past. This was the first test results using only under extreme conditions. I had the same results with my son racing his dirtbike. We took the engine apart to refreshen it.I burnished moly into the cylinder walls and piston skirt. These were all new parts. He ran two hare scrambles besides practicing inbetween. He pushes a bike really hard. Upon removing the cylinder it still had a brand new looking piston. Even the cylinder walls still looked new. By now I'm beginning to like this stuff. Everything I applied moly to, it I eliminated all wear. And reduced friction. I just lubed my Mitchell baitcasting reel. I worked it in but I didn't like how hard it was to push the spool release down. I took it apart again and lubed the levers and the release sear with moly and now it's much easier to operate. Moly isn't recommended for anything with a friction clutch so don't put moly on our drags in our fishing reels.

I just took out some old but new rod setups I had stashed away. I found one drag clutch plate that was stuck on a baitcaster reel when I tried to pull the drag by hand. It finally broke free. But it's a good thing I checked it before going fishing with it. From now on when I'm storing reels for there winters sleep I'll loosen up the drags so they will remain free. Has this ever happened to you? Luckily I was cleaning and lubing them anyway. But some of my new stuff has been sitting there for eons. I just tried a moly grease instead of the moly paste or anti-seeze. My quantum heat HT 400 baitcasting reel felt rough. After applying the moly grease it feels smooth again. I have two loons at one small place were I fish at. One scared me one morning at first light he came over the tree tops, right over me and went down to the waters edge. The sounds of his wings in the air was something I never heard before. It was really weird. This place has beavers too. The male is about 48" long with his tail. He was behind us in the woods one evening as we were fishing. He ran inbetween us to get to the water. He got tangled with my son's line and took his rod/reel into the water. He had a bobber on it luckily so we snagged the bobber and got the rod back. But all the time when this beaver sees me he comes close by and slaps his tail. I talked with the town worker who cleans the screen where the water drains off. The bravest plug it up every night keeping the water levels up. He said there looking for a trailer to remove and relocate them. Every body of water I fish at has freshwater otters and beavers.

Besides my old rods and reels I have some of my first minnow lures, crankbaits, creme rigged worms etc. And a metal tackle box too. I even have some of the older metal live minnow buckets too. I save all my personal fishing equipment after all its my own museum of history. Why do I save all this stuff, it's hard to let go of our early days when I gave up lunches or sold my lunch to buy fishing stuff. The things we did so we could fish as kids. I recently started collecting older fishing steel rods with the original baitcasters with then. While everyone collects the early wooded lures I go after the first molded plastic lures too. It's all the history of fishing.

First you raised a very good point. This is why different minds see things in other directions. I look for opinions in my posts. We could mix a tad of coffee liquor with coffee to not use the full strength. The weigh in would smell like a sleepy bar at 12pm. It's not a bad thing for a bar but unacceptable for a weigh in. Or how about a non alcoholic flavor but tastes and smells better than your normal cup of Joe would. I'm surprised we haven't seen a strike king KVD coffee spray scent yet? Then we can use it on everything. For now I'll empty my keurig used k cup coffee grounds into a bottle of coffee and let it work it's magic. The stronger the better. Then filter some into a squirt bottle for scent use. Sorry for jumping around but we do have choices and options. Free garlic scent, One more suggestion about garlic scent. My misses uses the jar of chopped garlic. When it's empty of garlic she throws the garlic juices away. Why waste it we have fresh squeezed garlic juices for scent. And it's free.

I seen some of the pro's in the tornies on espnc yesterday wearing gloves but the brand wasn't mentioned. I did notice in lip grabbing many bass during a frenzy my thumb felt like sandpaper.

I notice my yozuri minnow lures and some of my yum money minnow swimbaits are missing there eyes after there being used. Has anyone else seen this too? Are they falling off or are the bass ripping them out during the violent strikes.

I'm thinking forget the regular and decaf coffee and get the coffee liquor? They make like the high test? In a spray bottle. Patent it quick as a new fish scent. What about all the other flavored liquors? Or snopp's??? Peppermint? etc. I just purchased two packages of the KVD coffee scented swimbaits.

I stay away from fishing from shore at the bigger lakes on weekends and holidays. The wakes from the boats with the skiers can be tough with little shore flat spots to fish from below the land dropoffs that run down to the shore behind us. We're kind of trapped there. I fish later so family members can go. At 5am of course no one is around. But leave by 8:30am.

Mike Siebert of Siebert Outdoors one of our spinners here is making up some jigs in chartreuse for me along with some other colors. I can't wait to use them. I ordered some of the other colors he offers too. I got them in all sizes. I ordered football jigs and some swim jigs too. Bb

Ever see a chartreuse minnow? Ever see a clown colored minnow, how about a fire tiger colored minnow? Why are we limited to the certain colors with jigs. Why don't we use the brighter colors to match the heavier stained to muddy water conditions? Now factor in using brighter colors in low light conditions too. We use chartreuse spinnerbaits and firetiger crankbaits on over cast days. The norm is; With clear water conditions it's natural colored smaller lures fished faster. With stained water conditions it's brighter colored medium sized lures fished slower. With muddy water conditions it's brighter colored largest sized lures fished the slowest. We do this with cranks, minnowbaits, spinnerbaits, inline spinnerbaits, plastics etc. Why have the jigs been left out in the norm of the color relationship to the water conditions? Are jigs totally different than any other lure color wise. Why do we limit ourselves to certain jig colors. I feel the need to break the norm, correct the injustice, to break this color barrier with jig fishing. Just kidding but it's true Why does my rebel BIG CLAW crawfish crankbait in chartreuse work so good success wise? It dives to ten feet that's how deep my channel is. It's running on the bottom were my chartreuse jig will be so what's the difference. The jig would run on the bottom even longer. I think we need to think about this color problem and not limit ourselves completely to the normal jig colors. It's time to use the brighter colors that come alive in the darker water conditions.
