Setting Up A Baitcasting Reel

Fishing Line
I purchased some yo-zuri and some vicious line to try out. I couldn't find any Chinese fishing line. Like I said in the past we have to buy a quality fishing line. I used the Garcia river mist for eons for trout fishing. The spools we're .99 cents each. This was many decades ago. It didn't hold up for bass fishing. I needed to find something better.

Smallest Crankbait In Your Tackle Bag?
The ultra-lite snap beans, very small bomber cranks. I use 2" crankbaits that's my norm. I do use the larger shad raps and larger perch lures sometimes. The bomber FAT A, bomber square A and Norman thin N are some of my favorites. A guy here won a new corvette here in a local competition When at the launch his snap bean was hitting the water a large bass hit it. Game over he won.

Classic Songs???

Changing Your Line (Dumb Question)
If my line is rough or nicked its the last 60yards of it. The line passed that is still new. Change your line after every outing.... I lube my reels and change my lines every spring before I start fishing. Then as the season goes by if my line goes low on the spool I change the line again. When I used one rod setup for everything I changed line more often. But with using more rod setups I change my line less during the season but my topwater and crankbait setup gets the most use.

My $1.40 Chinese Baitcaster Arrived Today.
No harley would come close to my Suzuki 1200 bandit in quality or speed for just 6k. My son's buddy was a service manager at a Harley dealer and the horror stories are unbelievable. It's not fully American made. The forks are from Japan. The new engines are designed by porche. Too bad all that money. If I was to buy a Harley I'd buy an old one and restore it. I was receding to the wind going by our heads between the '72 $200 Suzuki and the 2013 $25k Harley. It's the same feeling. I been thinking about a new $35k Indian or a Suzuki Hayabusa(215 MPH) I love speed.

Mepps Timber Doodle. (Weedless)
Has anyone tried the Mepps timber doodle in weeds yet? It comes in different colored blades and 4" split double tail grub trailers. And in two sizes, size "0" & "1". I use the size "0" in the silver blade and the white 4" split double tail grub as the trailer. I cast it out in the weeds and slow reel it and stop and let it fall into the weed pockets. I have out fished live bait (Minnows) with this timber doodle. It has that side to side wobble plus the swimming action of the split double tail trailer too. This is one hot weedless lure.

Yum Money Craw
You have to try the mister twister 4" split double tail grub for swimming action for trailers. I use these on spinnerbaits too.

Cut The Line?
I haven't had this problem yet but I have 5 adopted cats at home that we're abandon when they were kittens. I have three feral ones that are happy to have something to eat. I bring them one fish a year. Even with live bait I try to stay on top of my game and set the hook asap. I lip hook them most of the time. I try to practice good fishing and hunting ethics.

Rem Oil On Bolt?
I put a only paste on the bolt body and on the bolt lugs. Then I run the bolt to burnish it into the pores of the metal. I wipe off the excess and add a few drops of oil. All my guns are lubed with only they never leave home without it. My fishing reels too. www.ts-moly.com

No not at all I meant he took a chance that's all. I mean take a chance it's only $30. Before my weight loss $30 was a lunch. But I did the work if two people carrying 250lb steel rails alone. I would lift 400lb parts and put them on the machine. I ate like two people. My dad told me a man should be able to lift more than his own weight. I was lifting 100lbs more than my weight. One of those Italian loaves of bread made into a grinder was my lunch.

My $1.40 Chinese Baitcaster Arrived Today.
I still have four other baitcasters. I enjoy testing different stuff even lures too. I don't drink or gamble plus I just beat prostate cancer too. I just need something to do and keep me busy. My credit card just came I spent $3,400 on fishing equipment this month. I bought some discontinued lures in my favorite colors that are my go to lures. They always work. Plus a ton of mister twister senko type plastic in all colors to stock up on them while there cheap. This $9 per lure or plastic just kills me. I get the mister twister comidas(there senko for $1.50 with no $29 ship kidding)I keep fishing very affordable. I give stuff to kids too. My radiation tech the gal takes kids fishing so I gave her lures too. I need to see if she needs rods and reels for the kids. I'm not a pro but I enjoyed fishing since I was 6yo and at 62yo now I want to give something back.

Supporting Mom And Pop
I spend $40/$50 dollars every time I go in. I buy a lot of clearances lures and give it away to the kids. I also share the wealth at our sponcers here too besides cabelas, Bps and brannans in Texas. Everyone has to eat too. I'm disabled and can't walk too far so I mail order most of my stuff. I fish not far from the car. I'm blessed to have hotter places to fish closeby.

Don't you think that some of this fishing equipment is way over priced? Now we expect a kid to spend $150 to $200 for a baitcast reel? Now how many expensive baitcasting reels will these kids buy? If they cut back on the over pricing there profits would be higher because there sales would be higher in numbers. What's your limit price wise for a top shelf reel, how much would you be willing to actually spend max wise? I can fish with any rod, any decent reel but I need good fishing line. The fish doesn't know how much your tackle costs. I still have my first Wal-Mart spinning reels and there still working for $15 to $35. Now I use okuma and Finor spinning reels. Is there any difference between the Wal-Mart reels not much but the feel smoother. Price wise is there a limit or ceiling in the market when it comes to cost for a reel? My point us do the reel manufacturers target price first or quality?

It's all plastic frame wise. I haven't opened it up yet. I did open up the side cover were the adjustable magnets are and it looks like any baitcaster I have looked at.

I'd never spend $200 for a fishing reel. What's the difference In the wind going by us on a $200 1972 Suzuki TS 185 dual sport vs. a new 2013 $25k Harley? Nothing but bragging rights that someone spent $25k. The difference is someone is $24,800 richer. Plus the Suzuki is more dependable. So where does the higher cost really factor in? I was all alone at over 100 mph except for the other rockets on my 1200 bandit. It cost me 6k at the time so does its low cost mean it's junk? I rode this bike for 25,000 miles the first year I had it and never had a problem. I sold it three years later because of health problems I got ill. They do offer this reel in left and right hand cranks. I ordered both the second one is due here soon. To each his own.

Yup your right next time I'll be quiet. Just because it didn't cost $100+ doesn't mean it's bad. Sometimes we don't get what we pay for too. I think this is a exact copy of a higher priced reel or they were manufacturing it for a big name company and they deceided to branch out on there own. It does look like the garcia exactly. Let's face it were teaching them about manufacturing. I build five cnc lathes that went to China so they do have our technology in manufacturing. Who knows what else they have. Keep in mind they do have bare foot doctors on bicycles who cure cancer. Where does that leave us?

Changing Your Line (Dumb Question)
I fish in all types of conditions. I notice my line will feel rough probably because of abrasions it sees. I have my spools go low too. But I hate wasting the line that's underneath when it's still new and unused. If I can spin it around on another reel and still use it I think it's ok with stuff so expensive to replace nowadays.
-
Changing Your Line (Dumb Question)
Ok our spools are filled up with new line. Once the line goes bad we remove it all even the line underneath it that's still good. I was wondering if anyone takes the line off and reuse it by reversing it or putting it on another spool so it's wrapped backwards were the good line is? Or do you just throw it away and put on new line again.

Cursed With Jigs
I use the 3/8oz football jig in green pumpkin with a uncle Josh pork trailer. I casted it down a rocky point from shore and slowly hopped it up the point. Short even hops. I do also add a rattle too. A shot of bass scent helps too.
