I purchased lead, tungsten and brass weights of all sizes and types for fishing. But I mainly use the brass for my carolina rigs.

I have no clue why it took rapala to start offering rattles in there lures. There original floaters, shad raps, jointed minnow countdown have been always successful. I know we're talking lipless cranks. Just purchased the strike king and the other hot one I think it's Excalibur that was mentioned before. But what about the rattle traps these still work like old faithful. I always end up with a mix of everything. I know the newer stuff on the market looks good and sounds good too. But I won't throw or give away my old rattle traps just yet.

I'm not sure we talked about so many materials I'm not sure which one. I did tell him he should be testing braid. I think he said one was cermanic but I'm not sure. Ok stern super braid it is. Thanks BB

Which braided line is the toughest on wearing the rod eyelets? My son works were they are testing rod eyelets and different materials for wear. He wanted to know which line was the most abrasive, they want to preform life tests. Bb

I just watched a video on the drop shot rig. They say it was first used in California. We been using a setup similarity to the drop shot in salt water for eons. Enuf said. My question is does everyone just tie the hook directly to the line? Or can we use a short leader on it. Let's say a 6" to 8" leader? I'm thinking a leader would give us more vertical movement. Just a thought. Bb

Some discount sights I look at for fishing it's mostly Flurocarbon line. Is flurocarbon line taking over? Does it have stretch like mono or less stretch like copolymer? I may buy some to try it but I'd like to know more about it first.

I purchased my 700 in 338wm because of its 4,000ft.lbs. @ the muzzle and it's 2,700ft.lbs. @ 200yds. That's the muzzle energy of a 30-06 @ 200yds. It picks up blackbears and slams them down.

Ok we sort of agree we need the right blend of compost to keep them fed and healthy. Now we need to figure out how to cool them in the summertime and warm them in the wintertime. Depending on where we live we do have one problem or both situations to contend with. The heat of the compost could heat them in the winter if the box we build is insulated properly, it should keep them from freezing. To cool them in the summertime we need to pick a shady cool location. My area is about 10 degrees cooler in the shade because of my high water table in some areas of my land. I'm thinking with the correct mix of compost to achieve the correct amount of heat. Any thoughts? Location? The pit? How deep? How big? How many worms to start off with? I'm thinking night crawlers(bass/panfish) and red wigglers(trout) probably 6,000 of each at first. It's your turn, suggestions?

Yup I been acused of cheating too by my wife's friend. My wife told me. I just shrugged it off. I go fishing to fish at 62yo why after almost 40 years of marriage would I jump ship now. Stupid people. I go fishing and block out every thought in my mind. I'm in my own zone. It's me and the fish.

I wonder if garden compost will work. Also what about a little manure mixed in if it's older decayed horse manure. I know I'll end up with a 4'x4' square x 4' deep worm bed someday. Of course in the north country I'll have to use sheet foam for insulation. All my family members with there spouses fish. Plus my grandkids fish. We have family tornies fishing from shore with live bait.

I know one guy who eats pickerel but he debones it and makes fish cakes.

Update, my bear has cleaned off my pear and Apple trees completely. The peaches are just about ripe. These are white peaches. There the same as regular peaches but less acid. There really sweet. This is the first year my pear and Apple trees had fruit. I planted more trees figuring I'd share them with the animals.

I'm growing worms right now naturally in my pile of leaves from every fall. I plow up the piles of leaves that are on the side of the road and pile them up in the corner of my land. I run my hand in the leaves and it's full of worms. I keep this pile in the cool shade. Luckily my land has a high water table which keeps the leaves moist. I was going to go below ground to make a worm bed but so far the leaves are working great. I have been thinking of adding more night crawlers and red wigglers to the leaf pile next.

Has anyone tried the BPS 7 1/4" stick o worms?? There the diameter of three smaller stick o worms/senkos. I didn't look at them before I threw them in my tackle box. When I got to fishing them the biggest hook I had was a 3/0. Way too small for this larger diameter senko type bait. I tried it anyway. I had the biggest bass I have ever seen way larger than my PB. it had my 7 1/4" stick o worm in its mouth. I prayed do I try to set the hook or not. I tried and she spit it. I could see all the action right in front of me at the drop off. I twitched it all the way to shore. My presentation was flawless. I would lift it slowly and twitch the rod tip as it falls. Once it hit the bottom I would repeat it all the way to shore. You can still find the olde monster worms and the culprit 10" & 12" worms too. I know your stick worms have different tails.

I also carry the smaller rapala original floaters. One morning after fishing I was about to leave when I heard action on the other side of the low bridge. The bass fry were schooling as the smaller 6"to 8" chain pickerel were picking them off. I put on a small bass colored rapala minnow and started picking off the pickerel one at a time. Finally the bass fry were safe the action slowed down. With so many people taking fish to eat I had to preserve some of the population. This is the same spot my PB of 10lbs was caught. I see one guy taking home the boney pickerel to boil them to make fish cakes better than using bass right?

If I make it till 70yo I'd be happy, happy. I'm feeling better by the day now too I lost 60lbs and got off some meds. I have another 60 to 100lbs to go. My heart had low blood pressure and that's going up too. I have a second chance. I'm going to fish more.

I'd go with the 7mm rem mag. It's a good accurate round. When I first purchased my 700 rem in 338mg the ammo was $24 a box. Now it's around $70 a box. I still have 10+ boxes of the $24 ammo. I do reload too.

I like the 45acp round too over the 9mm luger/parabellium. In what make and model handgun were you thinking of in 45acp? 1911a1 or glock or CZ? I've heard good things about the CZ pistol in 45acp. If the cz has the double action first shot it gets my vote. You can get a decent 1911 for around $600. I prefer a plain jane model with no bells, no frills and no whistles. But it depends on what you want too.

I found some on clearance at Wal-Mart a while back I think they were strike kings.

The rods are $9.99 and under too. The Shakespeare rod I'm using is only $4.99 my $1.40 baitcaster reel works awesome. Anyway it depends on how much you want to spend. The reels I started off with were Wal-Mart quantum for spinning reels. The better reels I went to are the okumas and finors. If you have a little more to spend. You could look at BPS in there outlet section too. They do offer deals at times. Right now at Fish and Save they have the okuma eipxor spinning reel for $49. For a good spinning rod you will need advice from the gurus here.
