I don't understand why such a great affordable and dependable product is discontinued? I was thinking of getting another one but there gone.

Fishing from shore I can out cast everyone with the longer length rods. I use the 5'6", 6', 6'6" and 7' rods. The 7' & 6'6" rods handle my topwater and crankbaits. My only problem is if I'm out that far and get a Strike and hookup a big bass as I set the hook she goes down in the weeds faster than I can hold her head up. I lost a lure and a very large bass this way. My shorter 5'6" rods are for smaller inline spinners and crankbaits. My 6' rod is for my carolina rigs. Overall my success in shore fishing maybe casting farther out too. My first cast is with the topwater lure soaked with bass scent. I figure I can motivate them.

I have a good wife for 40 years but we don't have the same interests. I need to push her harder to go fishing and shooting. I finally got her shooting again. She has her own 22 revolver. Maybe if I get a boat it would help. I wish we did everything together but maybe if we did we wouldn't of lasted for long.

Maybe I over designed it? I'll try one with less stuff on it. Thanks guys. I been more interested in keeping a known distance for the ticker or clicker to function in any position. I figured it would click the exact same way using the rod tip in the same action/way. I like it simple to use.

How come the 5hp Briggs & Stratton outboard was discontinued?? We purchased one and love it. We rent small boats on a lake and we can putt around and fish the whole lake. It was great on gas too, plus no two stroke oil film on the water too. Why is such a great idea gone? This made fishing with a boat very affordable.

Great info thanks. I wanted to add does anyone fly fish? I looked at my guy for flies and his bee's looking nothing like the guy in vt. I have all kinds of bass flies from the www.flyshak.com. I did purchase some awesome Dragon flies at the kittery trading post in kittery Maine. Being new to fly fishing I got ten hits on the Dragon fly on one cast. I just replaced my smaller fly rod with an older one from eBay. I have an awesome bamboo fly rod but I'm afraid to use it since its collectable. Bill

I want to get into fly fishing for most freshwater fish. I have most of the fly rod wt setups to cover up to bass fishing. I been buying standard flies for trout, panfish, salmon and the larger bass flys. It's hard to find quality flies. I found some awesome quality flies a on eBay hand made in Vermont in the USA. The sellers name is barnestheflyguy just take a look at his "bumble bee fly" I never seen quality flys like this.

I fish in about 10 feet of water. I've had constant success with this now for over a decade. I figure the ticker set up rocks. I find in using an upper and lower carolina keepers I can adjust the weight setup anywhere on the leader. I'm in control of the ticker when I twitch it.

Just some chum for thoughts; Again I'm no pro, but I'm very fussy when I get to pick lures or make stuff up. On my 1/8 oz carolina rig is as follows; (I'll lay it out vertically) I take a 24" piece of copolymer line or red Cajun I prefer 14 lb. to 17lb. test. 1. Swivel with eyes on both ends. 2. Carolina keeper adjustable stopper 3. Red plastic bead 4. 1/8oz. bullet weight 5. Either a brass bead or a brass ticker for noise. 6. Red plastic bead 7. Carolina keeper adjustable stopper 8. I put a small snap swivel on the end of the line. This way I can change the pre hooked baits out quickly. I have my senko type baits, my brushogs, my blizzard or worm prehooked on eagle claw weedless hooks. I like using a Carolina keeper above the weight and ticker and below it so it captures the weight and ticker in a known distance so I get the correct movement for the ticker sound. I usually leave about 3/4" to 1" of free space for the movement of the ticker. Plus I can adjust the whole carolina weight setup to anywhere on the leader. My point is sometimes I let the senko or brushog free fall with no noise or I twitch the rod tip to make the ticker rattle. We have that option without changing anything. This is what I use.

I try to keep the new unused open bags of plastics in zip loc bags. But I put the used one's in a desperate zip loc bag. On a hot day I think the plastics will melt into the 3700 container?? I also store all my plastics in desperate tackle box so the salt won't rust my hooks on my lures. Since I separated my plastics with salt from my hard baits my hard baits still look like new.

I filled out a survey on the mister twister website about not finding there new comidas on there website. It was hidden under there salted lures. I have to say they responded in one-day and fixed it. My hats off to them for such a quick response and action. I did see there bargain bin with the comidas in it hoping they weren't discontinued at such an awesome price. I finally found the new ones after sometime in searching for them. I ordered all there colors in the comidas. These lure manufactures do listen. Plus they have in stock all the colors they offer to us. That's a big plus when we go to restock. I get other manufacturers colors and they been sold out for years now. There color number isn't offered anymore. But with mister twister with there supply in-house will keep me supplied for the future that's Exactly what I'm looking for a great supplier who keeps up with the demand and inventory. They get my vote. The future of fishing is in the hands of our youth now. Remember to always take a kid fishing. Girls can fish too.

The fish here like the green pumkin for a jig. I picked it out to try first and it works. But I do wonder if my crankbait colors work will my crank colors work on jigs, spinnerbaits skirts and plastics too? I figure once the hot colors are tested and proven on crankbaits then the other lures with the color combination should work too.

For some reason I been hooked on buying those Chinese akuna crankbaits. There priced between $4 to $6 for two lures in some cases. I'm thinking if there tuned right or I have to tune them I would try them in there standard green block colors. Now I'm thinking of taking my gold metal flake and spraying the bottoms, then add my orange colored bottom. I think I can feather the gold color next to the block green color. To me the block green looks like our army block camo the way they mix and match the green with a gold block. I think they look great. I did purchase as many two fers as I seen so I can paint one if necessary. They may work in there original colors. Since one presentation I do is to twitch it while it's paused maybe tuning it won't matter up front. I purchased spray cans with laquer metal flake colors for painting model cars. I do have an awesome air brush outfit but I need more practice with it. But once its painted then I can be sealed with a clear laquer. Trust me it sounds easy but it's not.

Since Cajun red line disappears in the water too is it as good as fluro? I do use Cajun red line on my carolina rig setup. I'm a little slow with changing to the hottest trends.

I just finished up my restock in crankbaits for this year mainly discontinued colors. Now I'm on to the new and discounted plastics, senko type mister twister comida's, phenom worms, tubes and grub trailers. I'm buying the phenom worms with the solid colors and the two tone with the fire, chartreuse, bright colored tails. My next stock up will be brushogs. With two more weeks to get the doctors release to go fishing I need to change all my line, clean up my tackle room. And change my tackle boxes around to add new lures. I'm going to try the Chinese lures out soon. I will check to see if there tuned or not. There finish does look great. I do clean my tackle boxes every fall so there kept oderless.

I work over each place really good by fan casting. I try to cast parallel to shore were I can too. Work up and across the points. Try to cast in the direction no one else does do something different.

Fishing from shore in the evening the place gets beat up really good I see some throwing saltwater weights and rigs. Plus I find the bass are mainly between 1 1/2# to possibly 6# in the evenings. If it's quiet. In the early AM like at 3:30am till around 9am. It's better fishing for the bigger gals. My PB was caught at 5am as the sky started to light up 3' from shore. Plus I like the peace and quiet. It's me enjoying nature. It just gives me time to think.

On vacation one summer I was browsing a antique shop and seen my French D.A.M. Quick Spinning Reels from the early '70's for sale there. I was still using this stuff off and on. It's still in new condition. I browse for old fishing lures too not the really expensive ones but the old ones that catch my eye that are affordable and unique. The ones that no true collector would want. Afterall there still a part of fishing history. I even collect the first plastic lures too. I do not spend lots of money doing this. It's fun while the wife looks at antiques, I look for old fishing stuff. I also have the old baitcasters, with the very old wooden spools of the very old black braided original line too. I have a section for old fishing stuff in my tackle room. I collect the bamboo fly rods and the old telescopic fly rods. I have some of the old steel baitcaster rods too. I know most of this stuff has no real value but someone has to save it from the scrap pile. I can't believe they fished with steel fishing rods. I don't go out of my way looking for it, but I do look at flea markets and tag sales too. Overall it adds a fun twist to this sport. What gave me the idea to post this is I been browsing to replace a south bend black beauty 6' med action rod that I wore out fishing for bass. I bought it new for $16. I found out It's also collectable too. My fishing stuff I use today is very old too. I have a 5'6" light action south bend rod with chrome eyes that purchased about a decade and a half ago for $3 still brand new. I believe I read it's from the 1960's. I been using good quality reels and fishing line on the older rods. I guess it's time to upgrade my fishing rods. I'm not seeing any low priced New rods like I once did. The rods seem to start around $30 and up. Plus the new old stock has dried up. Does anyone collect the old fishing equipment too? I wish I did it 55 years ago as a youngster. They do say once you try a bamboo fly rod you won't go back to the new ones. I been gearing up to fly fish for bass too. I purchased all new affordable fly rods and reels so I could learn it.

Ok I ordered some excaliber XR50's to try and I'll get some KVD lures too. It's time to try other stuff too.

If your fishing from shore or a boat it's different because we fish backwards. From shore using a split shot rig or my 1/8 oz carolina rig with a ticker it's all about location, location, location. I look for dropoffs, in channels a long side weedlines or Rocky points. If I fish rivers I fish the backslashes or the sides where the water slows down. For the carolina rig. For the split shot rigged worm I find weeds and move the boat away from them till they disappear then anchor and fish the split shot rigged worm into the weeds. It's a very slow presentation, letting the worm sit, then move it, let it sit for 3to 5 minutes, then repeat many times, then recast and start all over. You can also use the carolina rig this way too with a wacky rigged senko or a creature bait. It's a waiting game but we do have success at it. It all works once we find the right location to use it

I mainly use the eagle claw weedless hooks in everything. But I do use all the others in larger plastics installed so there weedless of course. But sometimes it feels like I had a strike but the weed guard comes up open it confirms I had a hit. Sometimes we just don't know if it's weeds or a hit.

I buy anything that's on sale or clearances that I use or may like to try in the future. In the past its been split rigged worms, carolina rigged brushogs and senkos. I need to get into using more and different plastics. I'm sure we all tend to limit ourselves with what works for us rather than trying different patterns. The more patterns and presentations we know the better. Don't forget to store your used plastics in zip lock bags and keep your plastiss in another tackle box so the salt salt in the plastics won't rust your hooks on your lures.

I use the darker red or black with the red flakes in brushogs I'll check out that brand too.

When I find a new lure that's a hot fish catcher I will order more the minute I get home after the fishing trip I try yo keep a well stocked supply of all my hottest lures. I also worry about then being discontinued like the bomber FAT A and the BPS, XPS Topnocker. Luckily I have a few left in my stash. The bomber with the colors in craw and bass colors are being fazed out too. These colors have been offered for many years. Even today there my go to colors. There still hot even today. So when we have an awesome fish catching l8tr My point is we have to have extras so we can have the continued success.
