I am a light rain fishing freak. I like fishing during the fronts. We do leave the water when a micro burst is comming our way. My hottest lures have been so far using inline spinners during the rain, inbetween the rain showers when it stops and right before the front hits, about 2hrs before the rain starts. 1/4oz bass size Joes Flies in fire tiger apache Joes Flies in glo tiger Joes Flies in blackgnat silver blade Strike King silver blade with black tail #3 size Mepps anglia silver blade, brown tail #3 silver blade, grey tail #3 red/whire/silver blade / brown tail #3 Hank Parker on TV once showed me how good the mann's baby 1 in brown crawdad can be in the light rain too. I found it works all the time in some cases. I try a swimbait all the time like the YUM one thats 6'' long in white. They seem to attack it and try to rip it off my line but no hook ups yet.

When BPS discontinued the hottest topwater lure i have ever used i'm still upset over it. It was the Topnocker. I purchased some spooks so i may try to paint them the same as the topnockers. I have a set of topnockers in all the colors they offered at the time too. I never tried them all yet since the topnocker in chartruese was catching fish so good. Luckily i still have some left but it taught me a lesson to stock up on all my hottest lures because we never know when they will be discontinued. I have a complete air brush setup from my motorcyle/dirtbike days sitting here. Its still brand new and now i need to learn how to use it. I went to a new spot fishing from shore with people all around us fishing and no one was catching anything at all even with livebait. I threw my topnocker and popped it and paused it before and after the weeded open holes. I caught a 3lber right away from a weed pocket. My son was using a norman thin N in chartruese and nailed another 3lber in the same area. The norman thin N is another hot crankbait. I taught the kids to reel it slow and wiggle the rod tip to make it rattle more too. The people near us were shocked that we just pulled up and caught fish. When i find a lure is very productive i buy them for my kids too. I just placed orders with Joes Flies and Mepps too for spin fly's and inline spinners. My tackle room is bigger than the one the infisherman boys have, well almost. I'm filling it up with soft baits and hard baits too besides line and reels/rods.

Since Bomber has discontinued the Bomber FAT A crankbaits i been buying up all i can of the bomber Model A too just incase there next. I also stock up on every lure thats harder to get too. I hate it when they discontinue a good working lure. I spent about $400 on crankbaits this month alone.

While fishing in the country settings out in the middle of no where I find kittens that are just abandoned. Of course i take them home and give them an awesome home. Remember these are predators too. While playing with them they make me think of why bass will strike right away and sometimes they will hold off. I find the cats will act the sameway as were they won't hit a fast moving bait but when i slow it down they go nuts on it. It actually taught me to vary my presentation to figure out what mood trhe fish are in. It sometimes takes one fish to strike to get the frenzy going with the rest also. I also see lynx, bobcats and mountainlions, and some bears too which i can't take home.......while fishing too.

I can't say what color works best yet but every new color i try seems to still work. I picked up an off the wall brand spook for $2 In a flat orange color. I thru it one slow morning with some YUM shad scent and landed many bass off a rocky point. They loved the color. The bass also like all my crankbaits with orange bottoms too. The lower breast of the sunfish is orange too. I caught a place in FL. going out of business that had many off the wall spook colors for saltwater on clearance i purchased what i could. There also the right size for bass too.

Using the mepps anglia inlines taught me this many moons ago. silver for clear gold for slightly stained and up I use a #3 mepps and when the bite slows down during the day i will upsize to a #4 or #5 and get the larger fish hooked up. When the inline thats silver/black tail is working as the bite slows down in the evenings as it gets darker i switch to a brighter lure color in the same lure. I find that as the light changes the fish can't see our lures. Using a XD3 mepps in silver/white or a joes fly in frietiger apache will land a few more fish.

My personal best is at 10lbs it was caught on a Rebel BIG Claw crawfish crankbait in chartruese in the shallows about 2' from shore. I use this lure with the confidence along with the success of catching many bass with it. Its the lure plus the presentation that gets the attention of the bigger gals. I lost a new personal best and probably a new state record using a BPS topnocker in chartruese / fire tiger. Of course there no longer manufactured. This lure today still catches most of my LMB. My hottest lures to date; 1. Rebel BIG Claw crawfish crank The smaller ones work awesome in the smaller streams/rivers 2. BPS Topnocker (no longer manufactured) 3. Bomber FAT A #05 in Firecraw (no longer manufactured) Now when i have a lure that work like these do i purchase a case of them.

1++ on the norman deep little N's. I been setting up another tacklebox for all my deeper diving lures now too. I been buying the 9606 hip roof tackle boxes. Right now i have a 9606 for topwater, a 9606 for shallow to mid running cranks. a 9606 for deeper running cranks and a smaller hip roof box for my weedless stuff. I just keep running out of room tackle box wise. This is where shore fishing gets tougher carrying all this stuff. I really enjoy casting and trying all the different lures too. One problem i have is staying with what works i need to venture out to different manufacturers lures too. I'm hooked on the Bomber Model A's and the Norman series crankbaits right now. To me my best crankbait was the bomber FAT A but its discontinued right now. I'd find one that produces were you fish and stock up on what works for you. With the deeper running cranks, most of them will float up to the surface when you stop running them. When i seen this i run the deeper running cranks and adjust my line speed to make them run where i want them too. My favorite, successful colors are; Redcraw / red apple craw Brown craw Green craw Fire craw / fire tiger Chartruse Silver shad / chrome A shot of craw scent or YUM won't hurt either. I use scents alot and cranks that rattle too. When my crank first hits the water I swing the rod rearward so the crank will burn/rattle right down to the proper depth at the same time i will reel it very slow. I like doing this because the crank will dive to where it should be right away with no loss yardage.

I get the arm pain after making 1,000 casts. I use only lures and work them to death. I upgraded to the longer rods with the faster reels and now i need to switch back because of my arm pain and my back pain. The pain gets so bad so quick i can only fish 15 minutes sometimes. One pain reliver is to run the hottest water temp i can take without getting burned over that area for about 5 to 10 minutes before i go fishing. Its not good growing old trust me i know. Do those copper bands help??

A snapping turtle the size of a jeep 15'' rim and 235 tire. It was tooth and claw all the way in and he fought better than any LMB i ever caught. I didn't get my hook back so i cut the line. We have anothersnapper thats about 4' in diameter (shell) it has a head the size of a human head. I hooked up with it once and when the head came up my son said it was a log in the water. I said its the head of a turtle, a very large turtle. Turtles i can deal with its the very aggressive water snakes is what i hate.

We can use the worm by itself over weeds by casting it out and moving it slow. I still use the split shot rig from the early 70's. We thread a snelled #2 hook into a 6'' creme work and have a split shot at 12 to 18'' ahead of the worm. We put the boat where the weeds disappear and cast into the weeds and wait. Every 3 to 5 minutes we move the worm a foot. Its slow but its worth it. With my carolina rig i use a 1/8oz brass weight with a brass ball clicker with it. I put on a BPS stick o worm using a weedless eagle claw hook in the center wacky rigged. I user a 2' to 3' leader. Sometimes i let it fall on its own and sometimes i wiggly the rod tip to call the dinner bell (brass knocker). When i let it free fall i keep the line snug to feel the strike. I'm in about 10ft of water with this 1/8oz weight. I put brush hogs on this same rig too. On my first casts i do not use a scent. Its when i get a strike and miss it is when i add a shot of scent and on the next cast its a hook up you can bet on. At first the senko's got very expensive for me so i switched to the BPS stick o worms they seem to last longer.

Spinnerbait fishing is an art i don't care what anyone says. It took me time to learn it and Glenn here helped me out too. My favorite is a 1/8oz spinnerbait in white skirt, with a silver indiana blade with a white 2'' or 4'' cut to fit mister twister split double tail trailer, w/ a trailer hook or a 1/8oz spinnerbait with a chartruese skirt with a gold indiana blade with a trailer hook and a mister twister split double tail trailer 2'' or a cut to fit 4'' chartruese trailer. One shot of yum and hang on. Fishing from shore it works for me. Presentations; I can reel it fast enough so the blade slaps the top making it a topwater bait. This blade slap seems to attract the fish even more. Even on a cast when my inline spinner blades slap the water the action picks up. I like to do this over the submerged weeds. I can slow it down so its just below the surface. I do this over the submerged weeds and in the open channel waters. I can go slower so its below the sight line to the point we can't see it but its down where we can't see the fish, its in there strike zone. The fish won't show themselves to us to strike it but when we slow it up its in the face sort of speak,. You will find out sometimes this works good too. So slow up the line speed so we can't see it, so its just out of our sight. I do this in the open channel waters along side the weedline. The most important thing is to get the spinnerbait to run straight with the larger trailer on it. I still haven't mastered the spinnerbaits yet but i know what works for me.

Just three ?? even fishing from shore i carry a minimum of 5 setups. But ok i'll narrow it down. 1. 7' heavy backbone spinning rod w/14lb test (topwater / larger deeper running crankbaits) 2. 6'6'' medium/heavy spinning rod w/10lb test (crankbaits/inline spinners/spinnerbaits) 3. 6' medium spinning rod w/ 17lb test and 20lb test leader (carolina rig worm/ senko /plastics) If i could squeeze in a number 4 it would be a 5'6'' med/light spinning rod w/ 6lb or 8lb test for the smaller/lighter lures.

Why used?? You can get an affordable new maverick pump shotgun for a little over $200. Maybe $250 max. Or maybe even cheaper it depends on where we shop. When a used 12 or 120 model winchester 12ga pump would be around $300 to $400. The maverick shotgun is manufactured by mossberg in texas by the same people who manufacture there bolt action rifles. My new maverick is doing double duty, i removed the 28'' barrel and installed the 18.5'' barrel and she is guarding the homeland / family at my home now. I also picked up a 30'' barrel with double bead sights too for shooting skeets. Next i need the scope mount rifled slug barrel so i can use it during the deer hunting season too. For the cost of the extra barrels i have one shotgun that can do it all. BTW the mossberg 500 barrels fit the maverick 88. If i was going to purchase another 12ga pump shotgun i'd buy another maverick 88 for sure.

I use hunter holsters there in suede and the bulldog holsters are in nylon. I think the nylon breathes better than the suede holsters in the summertime withy body sweat. I have seen body sweat stain the stainless and nickel finishes too. A little simi chrome polish will clean it up like new again. My point is to remove it from the holster everynight and wipe it down and silicone it up again.

I have to be honest at first i never owned an ak nor ever wanted one let alone in 223. But the brand new russian izmash saiga is a untouched brand new semi auto rifle right from the same company who manufactures the ak and akm's. I didn't wnt someone's butcherd rework that i have seen in the past. Right out of the box the saiga feels very rough but when i lubed it with moly its a completely different rifle. It becomes very smooth in operation even by hand. Adding some moly on the trigger sear makes it feel like an expensive trigger job was done on it too. I use moly to lube all my guns. Since i got my foot in the door sort of speak with my first M14 down the road i may go for more american designed rifles. I got the norinco m14 for under $400. How could i pass that up. They say they shoot great too. If it shoots the way they say they do I may set it up for 1,000yds. I been looking at a millet scope for it. The scope i put on my 700 in 338wm has the BDC out to 500yds, thats the bullet drop compisation with no error out to 500yds its adjustable once we know the range. I'm thinking since its a 1 holer at 100yds she maybe able to shyoot farther than 500yds.

River bass fishing I would suggest the rebel crawfish crankbaits depending on how deep it is there are rebel craws for every depth and colors too. The crawfish in my river are a stream color. I just let them float across every pool and twitch it. its just like trout fishing with a fly but were using crankbaits. We also use the joesflies and panther martins for bass in rivers too.(smaller spin flies)

My orange bottom colored lures have more success on certain days over the non colored lures. I'm thinking there matching the main diet of the bigger bass which is the sunfish and bluegills and perch. If not than why do all my orange colored lures on the belly catch more fish?? Now why so many off the wall colors?? The sunlite and hues in the water changes the colors of our lures. The blue/white orginal rapala looks brown in the water to the fish. Many years ago when i purchased the orginal Combo C Lector for picking a combination of colors for that moment i found out it really works. Its got me into color bigtime when bass fishing.

Thats with the orginal iron sights using surplus ammo too?? The guys on the saiga-12 sight are shooting 1/2'' moa's with better quality ammo in there saiga's. I stayed away from the AR's because of there high prices and them jamming. I did pick up a norinco M14 and tricked it out mainly because of its forged receiver and chrome lined bore. The headspace i checked is spot on the low side and i installed the hd op rod spring from wolf and the national match op rod spring guide too. Now she needs to be shot next too. Back in '94 I purchased a new remington 700 in 338win mag as my new bear rifle. At the range with new winchester super X 225gr ammo she puts two bullets thru the same hole at 100yds benchrested. I do not shoot this rifle that often because its so accurate. To me its 1 rifle out of a million to be that accurate. I may donate it to a local police dept as a SWAT or sniper rifle soon. Maybe she can save someone's life someday.

I'd go with a Finor a reel repair guy told me if everyone used finor's he would be out of business. Finor makes those big saltwater reels too. With any reel make sure you lube it when you change your line.

Not all animals are stupid they learn our ways too.

BTW; My reloads are exactly the ballastics i'm going by when i load them. The new ammo isn't loaded to the specs the manutacturer is saying most of the time. Unless its advertised as being hotter ammo. But each round i reload is exactly the same too. I reload a lot of the leadcast bullets now too. I purchase all my lead bullets from www.snscasting.com he is affordable and has fast shipping too. For plinking and target shooting the leadcast is hard to beat its more affordable. You can also purchase used brass to reload and pick up a LEE Pro 1000 progressive press and put out the 45acp like popcorn fully assembled ready to shoot. Its the cheapest way i can reload.

Why go with an AR??? I seen no need for a high priced gun in 223 for many years. I just was never interested in the 223 round. But when i went to purchase a new springfield armory M1a in 308 for $1,200 at the time i spotted a rack full of the new russian saiga's in 308win with the 16'' barrels for $289. We benchrested the new saiga in 308win using south african 308 ball ammo at 100yds benchrested to see what it could do being built on an ak/akm platform and she shot constantly 1 1/2'' groups with the two of us shooting it. I did go back to the LGS to get a second new saiga in 308 and they were all sold out. But the rack was full of the new saiga's in 223 with 16'' barrels for just $259. There it was staring me in the face a semi auto in 223 for under $300. I made no hesitation of grabbing one and buying it. My point is these new russian saiga's have a battle field proven design and shoot awesome plus they won't break the bank to purchase them. I got an awesome rifle in 308win and in 223rem for under $600. Plus there probably more accurate than i am too. I think the russian saiga will serve any shooter well too. I did pick up some 55gr sp bullets for the saiga in 223 to hunt yotes soon. We need to benchrest them next to see how accurate they are. I like the saiga sporter look too over a tactical look when hunting. Right now i have a few builds on my bench too. One is a small ring mauser in 308win converted to 7,62x39 russian for my grandson. With the 125gr sp and the 154gr sp bullets aoofered he can hunt varmit and up to deer sized game. I'm also working on a 6,5 mm swede mauser and a 7mm mauser too.

I really like the plain jane 1911's like the new in '05 Auto Ordnance Army WW2 copy it has functioned and cycled right out of the box new for me and the first new 1911 out of three brand new top shelf others that didn't work right out of the box. The Springfield Armory G.I. Mil Spec as it was called also in 2005 has served me well too right out of the box too. One point is all the springfield armory 1911's all have forged slides and frames. I used a norinco for my very first 1911 build because of its forged slide and frame. My new AO is investment casted and i see no problems yet with it. Lately i been thinking of getting a factory build 1911 with some goodies already in it. My choices are the new Ruger SR1911 and the Thompson Custom 1911a1 also. I'm kind of leaning towards the Thompson. There both in stainless.
