The best part about these forums is that everyone on here, actually wants others to get better. There is always a line of people willing to help someone of need.

The crazy thing was that when we threw to the base of the waterfall, we wouldn't get a single bite. We had to throw are biats to the top of the waterfall and let them fall down it. When we did that almost every cast proivded a bass. Also the average size of these bass were much larger than our normal average size on this pond. I would love to hear your guys's stories about weird or random patterns.

A friend of mine has a pond behind his house and I headed over there today to get in a couple hours of quality fishing. ONe one end, there is a water fall where another pond floes into this one. We average about 1 fish a half hour on a typical day but early this morning and last night it rained and the water was muddy. My frined discovered mostly by accident that when he casted his little crank bait on the top of the waterfall and let it fall down it then started to reel he would get a strike. We both used this technique to catch about 10 in half an hour then I lost my crankbait and I think we caught all of them sitting there. So I tied on a popper and we walked to the next pond and its waterfall. The pattern held up and the fish nailed the popper. Some of the bass would even get completly airborne slamming the thing. Even caought a 1+ lbs crappie. My guess is that when the water flow picks up minnows are carried over the waterfall and the bass were sitting there waiting on them. All in all great day and a new pattern in my back pocket.

Are you guys looking more for an area or a bait? Do you typically move to diffrent areas with the same bait or stay in the same area and try diffrent baits? I know it is a combo of the two but what is more important to you?

Hey guys I am pretty new to bass fishing and 1 thing that amazes me is how in a post tourney interview a pro will say that they were hitting a blue tube in the second arm of coves off of willow laydowns or whatever. When you guys go fishing how do you find and define your patterns? Too many times when I go out I nver figure 'em out. I was wondering how some of you "experinced guys" go about figuring them out? Thanks guys, you are the best. I have already learned so much about from this site.

1 Last question I promise. What is the windy day alternative to this tactic considering these 2 baits are being fished weightless? Just add weight to them? If so what kind, jighead, bullet, carolina rig?

Qucik question, If fishing from a boat do you want to throw it out 15 yards from shore and parellel to the shore too? Or do you do this because the bait will eventually work back to the shore? What are the bas relating to at this 12-15 yard spot? I always throw my baits pretty close to the shore and try to work them back along cover. Is this not the best way to do it? Sorry my quick question turned into a few more .
