I'm ready to order a decent amount of cranks soon and was wondering what brands, sizes, and colors I should look into for fall. I'm not looking to spend more than $6 - $7 on each.

I think stealing signals is part of the game and I really dont like it when people use it as an excuse to say "Oh thats why they won" thats just rediculous. I give the pats credit for last year, they were great even if they did steal signals. I'm just glad they lost the superbowl ;D Go Dolphins!

Ok well I'm about to purchase a new rod and reel setup and I want something that will be good for spinnerbaits, buzz baits, froggin and cranking. The reel will need to be able to handle 30 plus pound braided line also. I went on basspro.com and was looking at the new Shimano Citica and a Quantum Energy PT Trigger Rod in 7' MH. Would this be a good setup? Would it be able to handle smallers size swimbaits as well? or should I go with the 7' H?

I would just like to know if anyone knows any good areas around the Stanton river to wade in or bank fish from. I have never been fishing at the stanton but from what I hear it has a good amount of SM in it and I would like to go and try it somewhere tomorrow with a friend if anyone has any info I would greatly appreciate it!!

Went out again today and the water level is up a good 4 - 8 inches. Me and my friend fished from 6:30 AM til 12PM and they were loving white 1/2 oz spinners, I caught 12 all together between 1lb and 3lbs. 9 on spinners and 3 on wacky rigged trick sticks. The fish were scattered as for the most part, I caught most of the fish around standing timber in different parts of the lake and a few around weed cover. Very productive day for me but still no master like WayneP. lol ;D

I have luck on Mepps In-line spinners in white and chartreuse. I throw mine down stream up stream and across and had luck either way just try different speed retrieves with all three to see what they like. Always retrieve slower when against current to keep the lure deeper. 8-)

wow thats kind of random....I know its not funny but I wonder what that would have looked like lol

lol to be honest I'm not too sure...I know we are going to fish for blues on the surf but I already have a rod for that so I just need something that would be suited to use on a pier for live bait like bloodworms and squid.

Well I'm heading to the coast this october for a weekend fishing trip and was wondering what a decent ($40 - $60) Pier/salt water rod would be to buy? and it needs to be a spinning reel that can handle atleast 30lb braid. Thanks!!

I was just wondering if anyone around has any of the shallow running Rick Clunn lures? I found 3 brand new lures in my gramps old fishing stuff downstairs along with a lot of other great things and I just thought it was pretty neat. He told me that K-mart had a clearence on these lures way back when and that he bought 144 lures for $.99 each!!

I was just wondering how you guys like to fish a smaller lake (500 - 1000 acres) during the rain or right after it has rained and a cold front has came through? Im thinking about heading out this wednesday or thursday and fishing a small lake and the weather forecast if calling for cooler temperatures and AM rain for pretty much both days. Any special techniques or tricks I should use while I'm out? or just fish it like I usually would? I really wanted to throw spinners for the majority of the day if that would be a wise choice

I'm not "Of Age" yet either but I am in that stupid gray area between 18 - 21 that the law and courts try to screw young persons out of money for a certain dumb ticket they hand out. I'm also not the typical go crazy underage person who does completely idiotic things after drinking a beer or two.

Oh I gotcha! Well I went out to briery again this morning and boy was I in for a suprise...I got out on the lake around 6:30 AM and noticed that bait fish were busting the top of the water almost every where I could see! I just happend to have brought my spinner bait set up along with me and decided to throw a white/chartuese a few times just to see what happend. Boom! 3rd cast I catch a decent size LM that was #1 1/2. So I move on up a bit to some flooded timber and start throwing and boy oh boy FISH ON!!! I fight this guy for over 2 minutes (atleast it seemed like it) on 12# test and finally he jumps not once but twice and I get to see this amazing fish! I'm guessing he was anywhere between 8 - 12 pounds, this dude was a hawg and in all the excitement I drag him up to the boat and didnt leave any slack in my line and as he takes one more dive he goes directly under the boat and I get to watch as my line just "pops" and the biggest bass of my life swims off with my lure, go figure right? :'(I felt like leaving the lake after that...I was so down. Oh well guess I'll find him again another day and I did manage to catch 4 more bass all being a pound or less. I'm going to buy 50lb braid tomorrow lol

I love my Shimano citica and they are only around $120 so for $200 you could have a new rod and reel setup. A lot of guys on here are also fans of the Shimano Curado which is a step up from the Citica and I think brand new they run around $150 - $190 depending on if you get the 07 or 08 model.

This was not the case for me last week at the Gander Mt. in Greensboro, NC lol and believe me I was looking hard for a deal 8-)

I use 14# trilene XL mono on my bc setup used for plastics and I haven't any problems what so ever on setting the hook. Although I am using a 6'6" MH rod so that may be your problem.
