Yeah...I think it might be wise to wait or just buy a used boat next year since I already have a truck payment and such. I already own a little 12 footer but to me its just not big enough and stable enough for the lakes I want to get out on this year but i guess it will just have to do for now.....unless.....I hit the lottery ;D

If you were a 19 year old student/worker making a tad bit above minimum wage....would you A: Wait about a year and save up to buy a used bass boat in the $3000 to $5000 price range? or B: Wait about year and finance a new Alumacraft or G3 fishing boat around 12 - 13 grand after putting down a $4000 down payment? Yes I know I'm young and dumb so i figured I would ask some of the wise guys around here what they would do. I also know I can find good deals on used boats in my area but would much rather have the mind set of knowing I would have a brand new boat and motor which would mean there would be a less likely chance of something going wrong (blowing the motor, bad lower unit, ect..)

So I have been to Conner Lake in Halifax VA twice so far this year and both times I have caught fish but not a single LM! I absolutely have no idea what they are biting because it seems I have tried everything from soft plastics to jigs to crank baits to spinners and I think the only thing that came close to catching fish were soft plastics (senkos). Anyone around here fish there and had any luck this year? the water is very murky and dirty in shallow areas and I dont think for the most part that the lake average depth is above 12-14 ft I have tried T-rigged and C-rigged senkos and many other plastics, neither seems to work due to large amounts of weeds and muck through out the lake bottem. Any ideas? I'm thinking about going tomorrow morning around 6 to see if the the early morning bite is on. Any help is appreciated!

Sooo I have done a little work to my old/new boat New seats fresh paint on the inside carpeting new plug setup (no leaks) new motorguide T34 trolling motor (can't wait to try her out!) So whats do you guys think??

Well I went to this small 100 acre lake in VA the other weekend and me and my buddy were doing some fishing for crappie/bass, I was using a mepps roster tail type lure and hung a 2 pound chain pickeral. I was just wondering what types a bait and lures are best for catching these fish because it was pretty fun fight on a small ultralite rod and if the bass aren't biting I'd still like to have fun catching something!

wow, I can't believe no one here fishes there or knows about it around here! lol So I went last Friday and it was a verrrry slow day for me and my friend. We didn't catch a single fish in the entire 6 hours we fished, but we did see 2 or 3 nice size largemouths swimming around. I guess they just didn't want to bite or we don't know how to fish :

Yeah my buddy is about to give me one of his old trolling motors this week so with that and the battery plus the outboard and 1 other person with all kinds of gear I wanted to make sure it would still float lol. Thanks for the info, I think next year I'm going to get a 9.9 hp for it as well.

Does anyone around here fish Farmer lake in Yanceyville, NC? I live in Danville, VA and just bought a small boat and was going to try it out there. I was wondering if anyone knows the fishing conditions for this week IE: water level, temperature estimate(morning-noon-late evening), and how the fish are biting (early morning-lunchtime-late afternoon). Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Gar are spawning this time of year in the river that I i fish in and I bet I spotted a total of 15 gar surfacing and swimming around where i was wading. I was using a rat-l-trap(silver/chrome) for SM and hung (not caught) 4 gar in about 2 or 3 hours. For some reason everytime I would hang one, I could fight him for about 10 or so seconds and the lure would just pop out like I didnt set the hook. so I dont know what the deal was but I know they like to hit crank baits a lot right now.

3lb largemouth caught out of a private pond last week. caught it off of a walleye colored shallow running rapala

Thats some nice size carp, what did you guys use for bait? doughballs? corn?

wow thats huge!...I see 2 and 3 lb shad feeding all the time in one part of the river I fish...I thought they were smallmouth at first!!

Anyone? I also found out that my outboard motor is not a Johnson but a 1962 Montgomery Ward 5hp and is in good condition

So i just got a good deal on a 1983 Sears Vhull jon boat with trailer and 5 Hp outboard Johnson Sea King motor for $450.00 and was wondering what the weight limit or person limit would be on my boat? the original coast guard sticker on the inside is gone. Me and my buddy were fishing a pond in a 12 ft jon boat and needless to say, he had never fished in a jon boat and when he tried to set the hook, he lost all balance and fell over backwards out of the boat...good times lol

Hi guys I'm new to the forums and have been fishing for over 8 years but I just recently got into LM and SM bass fishing this past year. I'm loading up with an arsenal of new rods, reels, and lures. I'm from VA and fish ponds, rivers, and the closest lake is Buggs Island (Kerr Resivor). Anyone have any new lures or techniques I should try thats buzzing around these days? BTW - I've landed two 3-4 pound LMs early this spring and one 4 pound SM, I'll get some pics up soon. 8-)
