  1. I still have a few latex rubber skirts similar to what came on the Hank Parker "The Classic" spinnerbait. The skirt had great action in the water, but heat and lack of moisture caused them to "gum up" and have to be replaced after a few days use. Current rubber skirts solved the problem, but IMO doesn't impart the same action as that flat strand latex....
  2. Chewin'! Take those all day long paul.
  3. Mend-it can help you make some pretty nice one of a kind baits also. 9' senkos do catch 'em
  4. Drop 'em in an empty water bottle. Dude at the recycling center always gave me a funny look when he saw 'em. Or I'll give 'em to a friend of mine who melts 'em down and makes new baits...
  5. I'd fish for bass more often... The amount of information on any and all topics regarding fishing is easily accessible via the internet (i.e. Bass Resource) is the greatest advantage you have Highschoolbassin. Back in the day, it was waiting a month for the next issue of Outdoor Life, Field & Stream, or In-Fisherman to arrive, learn what you could and then have the opportunity to try it out with the limited time and equipment you had... Good times
  6. USNavyVet, welcome to Bass Resource and the Forums. Regarding your AZ fishing question, checkout the "Fishing Locations, Western Bass Fishing" Forum as maybe other members had a similar day. Sounds to me you were going about it the right way...
  7. Welcome to the Forums Vinson!
  8. Welcome to the Forums and Northern California Brandon. Lots of Florida transplants you might be familiar with are close by in Clear Lake and Berryessa.
  9. Oakley makes goggles with clear lenses which is truly a benefit at first light. I didn't have the same experience with Save Phace shields as mentioned above. Froze the top of my melon off on those 30 degree days and went with a motorcycle helmet. Yeah, it's a hassle to store, but if it's cold or raining IMO there's nothing better....
  10. Welcome aboard basscatcher33, I think this topic was recently posted in the "Fishing Tackle" forum under " Trusted Japanese tackle on the web?". Ichiiban Tackle and Japan Tackle are two companies I have done business with. Good fishing
  11. Stout fish Noah, well done!
  12. As stated by pretty much everyone on this thread, I believe in buying the best equipment that you can afford. IMO, quality equipment adds to the enjoyment fishing and is the byproduct of one's hard work. Better quality does make a difference, how much may depend on the rod and technique. eBay, the fishing flea market, various tackle websites, even the consignment bin at the local tackle shop allow you to acquire quality for less than retail.
  13. IMO, weight, boat speed, with or w/o flashers, type of lure, and amount of line you let out will effect the depth you'll be trolling at. And making "S" turns while trolling will increase/ decrease the lures speed and depth in relation whether the lure is on the inside or outside of the turn. It's all part of the fun....
  14. CenCal fisher, another way to get a little depth is to use a sliding sinker rig like you would from shore, just downsize the weight. This setup might give you a little more flexibility trolling with flashers and various lures (spinners, kastmasters, small crank baits). The various sizes of the sliding or barrel sinker should allow you to adjust the lure depth. I'm not sure because I haven't tried this, but a small bullet weight placed on the line backwards might impart some action to a light weight lure. And the barrel swivel will help prevent the line twist you get from some lures and fly lining nightcrawlers. Fly lining a threaded nightcrawler with a pinched split shot on the troll is a lot of fun in the spring when the lakes turn over. Good fishing, Go Dawgs!
  15. Great reading Paul. of landing that hawg snatchin' day you had on the water!
  16. Good look in' heathy bass. Now, if he was trying to blend in with the shad in the lake...
  17. Wow! Congratulations on smashing your PB's in the first two months. Those are beautiful fish Kidflex! With the big girls chewing on that Seibert jig, March should be one heck of a month. Continued good fishing...
  18. Never fished for bass up in Washington. The ABA tourney weight ProCrafter mentioned is a sack to be proud of anywhere in country. My hat's off to you guys up there, IMO, Washington's steelhead fishery is second to none. And razor clam chowder.... Sorry guys, I started to drift
  19. Chunky largemouth, but that is a slab crappie! A stringer of those slabs can make for a fun day of fishing and a nice fish fry
  20. I had a pretty good day out on the water over this past weekend and thought I'd share the story. I was out fishing with my club on the California Delta. It was mid morning, water was about 56 degrees and we were fishing behind another boat when I feel a subtle bite. I set the hook and she comes up and jumps completely out of the water trying to throw the hook. I'm hoping that she stays down and doesn't come unbuttoned. Then she jumps out of the water two more times and as I get her to the boat she makes a run out of the net. I get her turned and my partner was able to net her and get her in the boat. She weighed 8lbs and lives to do battle another day.....
  21. I'll go with one fat wiper. Judging by the broken up lower lines, I'd say they're stretch marks
  22. GREAT fish, that big girl is a pig! I enjoyed the story of your well fought battle, because we all want to catch one like that. Sometimes our best days are when the conditions are less than optimal. Looking at the condition of her tail and girth, she was maybe thinking about doing the dance. So to answer your question about holding her. You didn't support her at the belly which is proper, makes for good photos. Again, GREAT fish everythingthatswims
  23. Nice, solid fish Bankbeater, hopefully this is just the beginning of a good year
  24. Little blk "image jpeg" on my tablet. When I click on it, a blk box appears, but no photo. Then to a Bass Resource error message page...
  25. Solid fish 00 mod! The first of many i expect we'll be seeing pictures of pulled off that spot. Continued success, JB
