I had this problem too when i fished with shiners for the first time. I found out that the majority of my short bites were from turtles picking at the shiner, if youre in an area with a healthy turtle population this could be the issue

for those of you that film yourselves fishing, do you turn the camera on and off or do you just keep it rolling the whole time and have to do a lot of editing?

The shimano sedona or symetre would be your best bet. Any shimano over $40 bucks will be a good reel

i just dont feel like they would stay spread out, they would just bunch up on eachother. Maybe if you staggered the leader length, try it out and let us know

I had one for a while, didnt like it all that much. The twitching bar was kind of cool, a little gimmicky though. But for some reason the internals in my reel kept getting messed up and i had to service it quite a few times. It became such a hassle that I stopped using it. BUT, when the reel was in working order it was a good reel. And plus, the blues sexy 8-)
