What would you do?
That is not a hard cold front but current is always your friend when a cold front blows through. I would sight fish, or back out to the first break to deeper water such as creek channel bends and slowly fish a Texas rigged plastic or jig and chunk around cover. With a cold front I look for current or go deeper and slow down. IMO a bass at 12 feet does not get as affected as much by a frontal passage as a shallow bass. The water temp should not change much at that depth. Black/Blue 12' -- Chartreuse 6' to 8' small and slow

Spawn and Cold Front
It all depends on how bad --or how cold--it gets. A minor cold front will not affect males on the nest too badly but I remember a spawn where a MAJOR cold front came through and the males abandoned the nests. Under severe circumstances the females can absorb her eggs and not spawn.

Lake Fork, Tx
Yes there is rain on the way but they are drawing water out of the lake for Dallas and that is why it is low. It will take LOTS of rain to bring the lake up 4 feet. Lots of stumps, lots of lower units on the bottom of the lake. Even going into Birch there is a 3 foot diameter stump right at the water line IN THE BOAT LANE. By the last buoy going into Dale -- same thing. Please be careful. Fishing has been fantastic with some 60 fish days and lots of double digit bass already this spring and should get even better. I look for some Share-A-Lunkers to come from Fork with the full moon in March and April. The bass just get HAMMERED so try to do something different than everybody else such as fishing humps, points, old tree lines, fence rows, road beds, or creek channels. Just beating the banks can make for a VERY long day.

The lake is about 4 feet low and the cut between the island and land is about 1 foot deep now.

You will be there at the right time for the spawn. Do not forget forget to fish Williams also as it is as good as it gets. I have caught 4 over 9pounds out of Williams. The back of Mustang is a good spawn area but with the water being so low the pattern will be different this year as the grass will be harder to find. When you find some--wear it out!!! I believe in Fork -- if you are not cussin the grass, you are not catchin the bass. Most of my successes at Fork come on Texas Rigged Watermelon Red Flake Flukes or wacky worms for unders and slot fish although one of my 9's came on a fluke last year. For big mommas I have had much better success with a watermelon colored jig with a watermelon red flake chunk. Lizards work great for sight fishing. My #1 Lake Fork tip is to be on the lake when everyone else is in the bed or bar. I can catch early until the boats start running then the fish pull back into deeper water until the boats stop running in the evening. Most of my big fish have been really early or happy hour in the evening or after dark. When the boats start running in the morning--about 8-9am, fish deeper, when the boats stop about 5pm pull back up on the banks. I have a place just across from where you will be staying and will be there prefishing for a tournament so if I can help just let me know.

Replica Mounts
I have been in their shop many times and their work is awesome!!! Take in measurements and a photo and they will duplicate your fish not just give you a bass.

Navionics is awesome and if you find one on ebay it is very reasonable. You will NOT be disappointed.

Trailer Axle Repair/Replace?
I agree that the best thing to do is replace --but-- I have used the chain and jack method and it worked surprisingly well. If money is a problem you have nothing to lose by trying to straighten it yourself and if it does not work you can always get it replaced later when you get some extra money.

- Is There A Structure Scan Simulator?
Does anyone know if Lowrance has some sort of a simulator to be able to practice with the unit on our PC?- buying my first boat
There are many things that need to be looked into. I am NOT a boat technician but I do know what I would look for if I were buying. (In no particular order) 1. Have a mechanic check the engine - top and bottom. - Compression check,Clean the carbs, replace water pump, pressure check lower unit and replace oil. 2. Check Transom for rot. 3. Check bilge pumps. 4. Check Livewell valves to make sure they work and are free when you move them. 5. Check Livewell pumps and drains. 6. Check Batteries. (you could spend$300+on new ones) 7. Check all lights (boat and trailer) 8. Check Trolling Motor for speed and direction. 9. Check Dash Instruments for operation. 10. Check Hinges and locks on compartments 11. Check under hull for damage from rocks, ect. 12. Check the Bow and Stern tie down rings are tight and secure. 13. Check tires for wear AND dry rot. 14. Check the bearings for wear (grab the top of the tire and try to move it in and out - it should not have much play.) 15. Check condition of carpet on bunks. 16. With no electronics the price seems about right and normally a boat of that age will not have anything you would want to have to pay for anyway. 17. Check boat cover and condition. 18. Check Carpet and upholstery condition. 19. Check title for legality. 20. Should be 1st -- MAKE SURE TO GET A BILL OF SALE SIGNED BY SELLER with sellers contact information on it. Many times boats are not abused but if the owner falls out of love with it, they easily become neglected and many of the items listed above will show signs of that. The carbs will be gummed up, the valves on fuel, livewells, drains, ect. will seize, tires will dryrot, cover will rot. PLEASE do not think I am dogging a boat of that age as I have a 1996 Stratos that is in TOP shape and hopefully the seller has kept your Triton in great shape also. Give careful examination before you buy and you will enjoy it for many years. Good luck and show us photos.- Radar?
I am not sure what you are referring to about them using radar but a radar on an aircraft is safe beyond about 50yards. We get bombarded with radar beams by aircraft all day long and I have never heard of a pilot having any health problems from being exposed.- Taking the confusion out of the wind
Also in the spring a windblown bank should be a few degrees warmer. The wind is your friend.- Best fish finder in the $100 to $150 range
An Eagle 480 is in that price range and a great unit for the money.- 1 question for KVD
My question would be; How did you become #1 burning every bait in your box while every body else I read about says - S-L-O-W is better? What do you do when burning your bait that others do not?- I just signed up and WOW. What happened to working and buying your own stuff?

Maui has to be one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Thanks for the pics. A little wine before a flight never hurt anyone --- unless you are the pilot.- If you could ask Shaw Grigsby a question
In his opinion -- what is the number one mistake weekend anglers make? or- What is the number one change that weekend anglers can make to be a better angler?- If you could ask Shaw Grigsby a question
I would ask if it gets tiresome that most anglers think all he does is ride around fishing the best lakes without thinking about all the miles, weather, zero paychecks, sponsor obligations, and being away from home. Is there any way to give us weekend anglers an honest view of what being a pro is all about? I have total respect for pro anglers for their commitment to the effort it takes to get to the top and stay there. This months BassMaster magazine had an article that covered some of Ike's travel adventures, I really enjoyed reading about his travel mis-adventures being a pro.- Post your favorite YouTube Fishing Video Link
THANKS GUYS -- These are great.- Just picked up my new boat
Now all that is left is to see photos of lunkers you caught out of it. Congratulations --- hope you enjoy. - Is There A Structure Scan Simulator?
