  1. I've been looking since last year for a fishing tournament/contest in my area. I can't find one anywhere and I want to be in one just to see how I do. I've looked in newspapers and online and still can't find any. Any ideas on how I might be able to find one? I can't even find a club. Do you think there are some contest that will allow people to join without a boat?
  2. Not worried anymore after today! I originally set off to do some trout fishing today at a different pond where all there is are trout, but not even a bite with what I used to catch them on. There are always people there fishing for them and they keep every single trout they catch. I swear atleast 20 trout are taken from that pond daily. I think they might be gone so no more trout fishing :'( Anyway, went to the pond where I have previously caught some bass, and for the first time caught more then one bass in a day 8-) Not big at all though. The biggest on the day was about 11.5 inches and a 1.3 pounds. I then caught two babies, both around 7 or 8 inches. Caught the bigger one and smaller one with a 5 inch watermelon cream colored Yum Dinger. (I alternated with Senkos and Dingers) I caught the other one with 5 inch watermelon/black flake senko. All worms were t-rigged. I picked up the dingers this past weekend to see how they would do. Watermelon was a winner today Senkos: 3 Bass, 3 separate trips Dingers: 2 Bass, 1 trip Biggest today: Ben
  3. Picked up a Blue Fox Vibrax Inline Spinner and am waking up at around 6 to go trout fishing at the city park pond. (Oddly enough their are only trout in there.) So, I'll take a break from bass fishing and go for some trout tomorrow morning. Will update you with the catch tomorrow! I love summer vacation

I caught my PB on a Jitterbug! Although it appears I was fishing it wrong because I fish mine with a 1-2 second pause on the retrieve.
  5. Maybe 4 lbs? Nice little pike
  6. Well, about a week ago I was telling you about this new pond I found and how I caught two good size bass in two days. I went there 3 times the past week and got no bites at all using senkos, frogs, jigs, jitterbugs, and spinnerbaits. I'm doing exactly what I did those first two days and still no bites. Am I fishing the pond too much? What am I doing wrong or what should I do? :'(
  7. Like everyone said..great job Those are some huge bluegills. That one girl got the catch of the day IMO, the largemouth
  8. lol a house boat! We have had some bad flooding here in SE Wisconsin, but none got in our house. I went fishing right after one of the storms, and the pond I fish at was 11" higher then normal!!! Caught a bass that day :
  9. Weightless Texas
  10. That pond is somewhat muddy, so maybe they see the white better then the watermelon? All I know is that I've found a great place to fish for bass, and it seems I'm the only one fishing it! ;D
  11. Ever since I caught that 18 inch bass, I knew it would be a good year. However, I tried more and more at that pond and caught nothing. I went out and bought some senkos and they did not produce after 3 visits to that pond. I decided that I would try a new pond that I have never fished. Jackpot. Yesterday, I caught a 12" bass, just under a pound. Today, I caught a 16", 2 lb bass. Both were caught with Blue Pearl/Slv Flk 5 inch senko. This is the most something has produced for me and I'm loving every moment of it. The thing is the the watermelon/blk flk has not caught anything yet. I'll just give it time, because those senkos are doing good for me 15 and 1/2" or 16" (Tape measure is a little bent) 2 lbs!!! haha not the biggest fish, but exciting! Ben
  12. Yeah, I tried everything I brought with me. I tried my watermelon senkos, a jig and pig, jitterbugs, spinnerbaits, and a t-rig lizard. That's okay though. A successful day for me is catching at least one bass
  13. Well, it was good and bad today. For me it seemed that it might be really good RIGHT AFTER the storm but maybe like an hour after its bad. I caught a 13 inch, just under 2 lb bass with a 5 inch blue pearl/slvr flk senko worm, unweighted t-rig. The bad was that I had no more bites after! Not even an occasional nibble from a bluegill! Well, it's good to know that those senkos do catch bass ;D (Red Square is 1ft)
  14. Sweet! That's exactly what I want to hear! I'll be back on here later to tell you guys of the day ;D
  15. Hey BR, here in SE Wisconsin we had a couple storms over the last few days that swamped us with about 1.3" of rain. A storm just end an hour ago and there is no more coming. I was wondering if It's a good idea to go do some pond fishing since there is nothing else to do right now. I know that its good fishing before a storm but what about now?
  16. I took your guys' advice and bought a light and a dark color. I actually ended up buying the colors I said in my first post. I got a pack of 5 inch watermelon/blk flake and blue pearl/slv flake. For hooks I bought Gamakatsu Superline EWG hooks size 3/0. Also bought a nice little scale that goes to 28 lbs with a tape measure so I can now weigh my fish! Thanks for all the ideas! I'll try 'em out tomorrow ;D

Yes, I was sucked in by the Banjo Minnow, and haven't caught anything on it! I don't plan on ever using it agian
  18. Well, texas rigged worms (with the squiggly tails) and lizards aren't working at my pond. Even my Jitterbugs aren't working any more. I've read that Senkos are great for ponds. I plan on getting the 5 inch ones, maybe 6 inches. I want to start out with two colors before I flood my tackle box with these guys. The one color I am for sure getting is the watermelon with black flakes. But, I need help with the second color. I was thinking Blue Pearl with silver flakes or Bubblegum. Is there a better color to choose from then those two I can't decide on? The pond has moderately clear water, with a lot of weeds and shallow, if it helps. Can you help me with my second color? Yes I've read the FAQ's but still can't decide
  19. I caught this a couple days ago off a 2 inch jitterbug at a pond. 18 inches probably around 2-3 pounds. I'll start weighing them;) I'm going tomorrow to try some senkos and jigs!
  20. Wow, nice fish! I gotta start trying some senkos at my local pond.
  21. I'd like to fish with Bill Dance and Mike Iacconelli on Lake Ochachobee(sp?). Both are saints among men.
  22. Wow! Thanks guys. I have tried spinnerbaits, but they always end up catching weeds, hence the pond has a good amount of weeds. I haven't tried any plastics yet, and generally I have been using topwater lures such as jitterbugs and scum frogs. I'll go fishing maybe tomorrow or thursday, but definately on the weekend! I'll let you know what happens. Ben
  23. Hey BR. I fish a small pond that has mostly bluegill and perch. This morning I caught an 18 inch Largemouth Bass using a jitterbug(Avatar). I had no idea there were bass in there and that big. Any idea on how to target more bass? A lot of the pond has weeds, but I fish a spot where it's about 5 feet where you can use a topwater or shallow diver without getting hooked on weeds. I'd like to make this pond my bass hot spot:)
  24. LMB: 18 inches SMB: 16 inches Bluegill: 6 inches Pumpkinseed: 11 inches Crappie: 10 inches Perch: 7 inches Northern Pike: 22 inches little hammerhandle Rainbow Trout: 9 inches
  25. Definately a big black jitterbug!! I've never tried it, but my dad has caught some 2-3 lb bass along the shorline at night.
