Ya, I understand i put this in a bass forum..I'm gonna target yellow tail with it. I just wanted to see if there is other people who salt and fresh water fish on here who own one too...

Is there anybody else out there who owns an Avet? I just picked up my first Avet an SX (20 lbs class reel). All i can say is wow. I never understood why so many people bragged about freespool when fishing for bass. I kept thinking why would you want to increase your chances of backlashing? Lets just say the light bulb went off in my head after getting better at casting this thing. (It's all about the thumb.) I now have a better respect for team diapers, i'm sure when they first started with baitcasters they didn't have brakes on them. Anyway i'm proud to say i own an American made, awesome peice of machinery!

I just bought a salt water reel that has no brakes on it. I practiced casting it in the yard for a couple days with a few backlashes ( knock on wood, none bad enough to cut out the line.) I then found a tip on a salt water forum to take a water bottle with spray nozzle and wet the line every other cast. This for some reason works better, i guess it's kinda the lubricating between the line and your thumb that makes it easier to cast.Plus gives you real world practice over dry. Worked for me...I can now cast with no backlash nine out of ten times. Hope this helps someone out...

My reel is a TD 153HSTA..The drag stock is 8.8lbs If i upgrade to Carbontex pads, will i get more drag out of my reel? Maybe over 10lbs.? The reason being i want to use it in the ocean for small yellows.

I own one, and really like it.I use it just for smallmouth.I put 8lb test on it,handles light lures great.

Tip # 105... Dry your blades with a blow dryer after your done, makes your razor last three times longer.

Ok, My hard drives are getting hot? All Three fans are working good. My hard drives are partitioned,One only has XP on it and is 99% empty. The other has everything else on it, and is 1/2 full. What could be the cause?

swimming pool Acid..mix at 1/20 ratio.Acid to water. Then polish with whatever....I have won two truck shows and my polish guy would always start with that mix before polishing.
