Who’s fishing a BFL?
I've been following the NC division as a co for the first time.. had a great draw each tournament.. caught a few fish but learned a ton so far.. hopefully the learning continues. Good luck.

Shimano Caenan 100 Noise
Perfect thanks.. I hit it after cleaning up and lubing and was like welp that doesn't seem normal. And convinced myself I had something wrong. Everything else works perfectly. And that does too if it's not supposed too haha!

Shimano Caenan 100 Noise
Thanks I appreciate all the input. I may have made a mistake but my latest attempt I stretched the springs out a little and put a little grease on the ramp areas and it still will do it but takes a larger amount of inertia to create the click/spin.. I'd say more than double the force as when I started.

Shimano Caenan 100 Noise
The gears and ramp areas all look fine and not worn or chipped or broken. The plastic part with the ramps will seat all the way down inside it's mating surfaces so to speak and the springs are on their pins. Could the springs be too weak?

Shimano Caenan 100 Noise
Can someone help me fix this clicking issue? Is it just the AR bearing or something else? I'm a novice at reel repair, can get them apart and back together but there is a chance something is put together wrong also. Video below explains the issue. https://photos.app.goo.gl/AkH6tCWwMtGTLdue9

5304 Owner 60º Deep Throat Jig Hooks
Update on what I've found so far with this hook vs the Mustad 32786 60º. The Owner is overall IMO a higher quality hook - better cutting point design, stiff, thinner wire dia. lots of great qualities... What it has that turns me slightly awry is that the gap and shank are a fair amount smaller (I believe it was 0.094" - 0.125" difference) for the Owner 5/0 vs Mustad 5/0. I went ahead and poured all the hooks on a batch of football heads, and so far I've had limited testing, but haven't lost one with it yet. Side note: I have received the wrong product from L.P.O. concerning hooks before... There is a slight possibility that they sent me 4/0 and labeled it 5/0.. that I can't be sure of yet.

2019 Lure swap
Did we find someone to for sure run this, and send out an address thru PM? I'm making what I fish with all thru the winter so whenever we figure out where too & if January 15th is the target to the distributor I'm set. Thanks!

5304 Owner 60º Deep Throat Jig Hooks
That's a great video. Heck I had seen it before some years back and didn't put two and two together haha. My hooks will be here Thursday for my test batch. Ready to get my hands on them.

5304 Owner 60º Deep Throat Jig Hooks
Ok that makes sense. I don't have that clear of water clarity, and only 1 small mouth lake nearby so I probably won't be going that small.. but maybe halfway there for what my conditions dictate finesse to be would be a good idea! Thanks!

5304 Owner 60º Deep Throat Jig Hooks
Ok... so I gotta ask what are you doing with that small of a jig? Do you have a photo? I'd love to see it.

Tacklemaking I jumped into the deep end
That's awesome, I've never seen it, only heard of the process a couple times.

5304 Owner 60º Deep Throat Jig Hooks
Thank you both. I just realized the number was the lpo number when I placed my order from Barlow's today. Needed to make an order so I figured I'd get a few hooks to play with and now I feel even better about my decision. Thanks guys!

Show Off Your Work!
How do you re-crimp the eye? Can it be done with a bench vise? They look like $$.

Airbrush or powder pain for jigs?
PC for me, but I'm not an artist and don't have much time to invest into each bait either haha!

Winter jig making
As long as it can maintain a temperature that you pick - depending on paint 325-400 then yeah they work well and you defiantly don't want to do too many in the house oven.. there is some health risk with that, I'm not smart enough to know if it's legit, but what I read scared me out of going that route basically why risk it kinda thing. I thread tie mine rather than wire and prefer it that way. If you develop a good tie off method you don't need thread cement like I started with when I was learning, and didn't know any better, threads don't come loose even without it. I use a cheap tying vise, but can see the benefit of a high end swiveling version if I was doing this every day. But for a few hundred a year a $20 vise works fine instead of 100's of dollar vise$$$.

5304 Owner 60º Deep Throat Jig Hooks
OK, so I've got hundreds of regular 4802 Mustad 32786 60º Flipping Hooks on the shelf ready for the next pour session.. but I'm very intrigued by the 5304 Owner... I need some real life opinion of comparison between the two hooks, size comparison, mold fit, anything you can offer. If they are as good as I'm hoping they "might" be... I may have to make the swap. TIA!

Winter jig making
If you are going to powder-coat go ahead and look up building a fluid bed and get a temp controlled oven for curing. A good lead pot is important to me as well. Also don't mess with the tools or buying the rubber bands go ahead and learn to wire tie or use a thread bobbin and hand tie them, it's not hard to do. The rubber band setup will make you mad as soon as you start fishing them.

Testing out some illusion paint. Seems to be a little temperamental for a consistent look. I'll get them all decent eventually.

Paint I the hook eye of my jigs
I recommend building your own. Experiment with various paper filters. I believe regular copier paper is what I ended up with, either that or fast food brown paper bag. And a flow control valve is a must also in the build.

Weed guard glue
The Loctite Gel above works well but I've recently been tinkering with E6000 and I like that also. Takes some practice getting the right amount applied to the guard before inserting it. Tried the epoxy also, but definitely get 30 minute cure. The 5 minute will be frustrating if you plan to do many baits, as I found out.
