  1. Last show I went to was about 5 years ago. I took a sign that said "White Trash" with an arrow pointing down to me. Crowed loved it, especially when I took off my shirt and chuged a beer while holding up the sign. My wife however was not so impressed. I believe it was the smack to the back of my head when I yelled out " I love you Lita!" that was the last straw, needless to say we have not been back. But Lita did turn around and blow me a kiss!
  2. Yep, times are tough. Nothing is being purchased at the previous rate right now. Trust me I know, I see RV's.
  3. At the start of this year my first injury was a sore wrist, after that was gone, it was the elbow. But now everything is fine after a month
  4. Luckly I do not have to worry about a trailer. I have a permanent camp site on a 50 acre lake with a dock, it will not leave there. So one less thing that I have to worry about!
  5. I have tried the frog and shad twice each now. I get hits, but no takers, seems like they miss it every time. I have not given up on them yet, but I am not having the success that other people seem to be having with them
  6. Yeah, I never thought about that, the boat traffic on holiday weeends is always a great pleasure to deal with! I might stick to shore fishing around their dock. I will let you know how it goes Thanks for the tips
  7. I am going to a bachlor party over Labor Day weekend, and we are staying at a house in Smith Mountain Lake. How is the fishing on this lake? I will be mostly shore fishing, we have 200' water front, but there will also be a pontoon boat I can use. Thanks in advance for any info or suggestions
  8. I was given for free a 14' jon boat. I have decided to spruce it up - new paint, decking, etc. So far I have priced out what I would want on it as far as: Trolling motor, batteries, battery charger, fish finder, ancor system, and seats. This is already going to cost me over $1,000 and I have not even looked at paint, decking material, carpet, etc! I love when free stuff makes you go broke!!!
  9. LBH, I have a few questions for you. It seems from the original post 3 years have now passed. 1. How is the paint holding up? 2. How is the bedliner holding up? 3. With your 55 lb TM, I think you said you have 2 batteries, how long can you go inbetween charges? 4. How is the decking and carpet holding up? I know this is an old post, but I was just curious about it's condition today. I know you use it alot, so this would be a good example of longevity
  10. I put 5 or 6 or each bait in the snack sized zip lock bags. About 5 or 6 of these bags takes up the same amount of room as one of the original bags with 25 baits in them. After each trip I refill the bags so I don't run out next time. This saves a lot of room, and is less weight to carry around
  11. I would also like to thank you for your service! I know some pretty clear lakes around here where you could get some nice bass with that gun, you don't need a rod and reel! I wish you a safe return!
  12. During the week I fish a 14 acre retention lake less then 1 mile from my house. On the weekends I fish a 50 acre and 10 acre private lake at the campground I have a permanent spot at. I just got a new site this weekend on the big lake, so as soon as I get a boat, I will only fish that lake on the weekends!
  13. No Title means they do not have the title work, so they can not prove that they actually own it. You will not be able to register the boat and trailer without a title, so you will not be able to get a plate to trailer it. Check with your local DMV to see if you can get a title for a boat, you might be able to, but it will cost you extra money
  14. MAN, I need to go fishing with you Fluke! It is not fair to catch a fish on EVERY cast!!
  15. I use the snack size ziplock bag. I can fit 6 or 7 or each bait in each bag. I have a small pouch on my hip belt that holds 5 or 6 of these bags, each with 5 or 6 baits. When they get beat up, throw it away and use another one. You can get like 500 for a couple of bucks
  16. That sounds like a personal problem! I have 2 soft tackle boxes. One that is larger with 4 hard boxes inside. The other is a small hip belt version, perfect for walking around a lake and not having to pick up the box everytime you move
  17. In your description of the event, you never mentioned a hook set. Therefore I would say the hook was not set. I personally would have tried to hook set him after he had jumped the first time to make sure. I caught a nice one 2 nights ago on a frog. A similar thing happened to me, she hit it and ran, I did not set the hook. I had her on for a while and figured the hook was set, until she changed directions and the line went limp
  18. I was wondering why the reporter from Fox News had been follwoing me around!
  19. That was one big dude!
  20. I actually read this post yesterday. On the way home from work I was in Dick's and happend to pick up these toads and a package of the shad. I tried the toads last night and for the life of me could not get it to run straight. It would run on it's back, or slowly rotate. I varied my speed hoping that would help. I even did the hesitation approach, but could not get it right. Then I remembered this post and switched to a weighted hook. Ran correct and straight for the rest of the night! I had 3 hits, but no catches. But I was just trying it out for a site I am going to this weekend that will be a better match for this bait. The only dissapointment was I did have a pretty nice bass hit, I set the hook, he pealed off some line. I had him on long enough I was sure I had him on good. He never jumped, but he did change directions and my line went limp! Oh well, I was bad at setting the hooks correctly with worms when I started using them, I will just have to get better with the frog now!
  21. I will let you know when I change, been about 2 months now. I walk around the lake, but always t-rig worm
  22. This is a good reason to have a good pair of sunglasses I guess! FISHING-LURE HORROR By TODD VENEZIA and GINGER ADAMS OTIS Last updated: 6:40 am July 31, 2008 Posted: 3:31 am July 31, 2008 A Long Island fisherman has died after a freak accident in which a weighted lure hit him in the eye and lodged in his brain. Jaime Chicas, 21, was angling on some rocks at Jones Beach at about 8 p.m. Friday when his line snapped back and a 3-ounce sinker recoiled violently, penetrating his eye socket and hitting his brain. Chicas' brother-in-law Jose Gonzalez, was about 30 feet away when he heard Chicas groaning. "We were just sitting there. It was pretty tranquil, kind of getting dark," Gonzalez told The Post. "We didn't see anything, but then my cousin and I both heard him groaning. We ran to him and he was down, lying on the rocks." "There was so much blood. We could see something had gone in his eye." Chicas was pronounced brain dead Tuesday at Nassau University Medical Center
  23. You can even go one step further and join the American Cornhole Association. You get a member card and everything!
  24. ahhh, I see, I read your post as those are the 3 setups that you have to have. I guess I did good, because your first suggestion is exactly what I have. It your right, it works good with everything I use. I know I could get better at some things if I got more equipment, but that is down the road. I actually did get a new real last week, went from the cheap real to the middle of the road real. There is a BIG difference, easier casting and easier retreival. And since I have started catching bigger and bigger fish, I got heavier line to help out with them!
