Nose Hooking A Fluke?
Flukes are $3 for a pack of 10. If you catch one fish on each fluke thats 30 cents a fish. I dont know about you, but I'll gladly pay 30 cents a fish. Baits are too cheap to worry about. Especially after you think about the expenses of a boat, insurance, gas, ect. Loosing a soft plastic or two, or a whole pack for that matter, is the least of my worries.

Panic Box
I dont have a panic box, but when times are tough, I throw a t-rigged rage craw around cover or cover alot of water with a crankbait.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
No, there is not concrete under your tires at White oak, but they put gravel down and it has been working fine. THere must have been 40 boats launched there Saturday. I have had no trouble getting my 20 ft. Nitro out with my Dodge 1500 2wd.

Im launching out of white oak. The river is safe to run, but I dont run in anything less than 20 ft. I saw 2 huge stumps in the boat lane between white oak and housen.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Do yourself a favor and get a pointer or rogue. I caught 75 fish Saturday on a spook and pointer (mostly on pointer). I had caught like 5 fish in 6 or 7 minutes on the pointer when a 4lber grabbed it with only about 2 foot of line out and broke it off. I didn't have another one so I tied on a fluke. Didnt catch another fish. I bought 5 pointers today...

I wish I could fish this weekend, but I have class... Yes, a pointer is just like a rogue. Ghost minnow has been my color of choice.

I have caught 317 bass the past 2 weeks on spooks and a pointer on mainlake grass beds in 8 fow. And they have all been from the Housen/Indian Mound area.

Topwater/ Jerk Bait Rod
It should be quite a bit more stout than a Bucoo M because this is a MH/MF not a M/F. I have never used one or held a Clak Wendlandt Cara, but I have a 6'10" regular Cara and it is GREAT!

Bayou Tackle G-Shad
Anybody ever used these? My buddy fished with a guide on Fork a few weeks ago and this is what the guide told em to fish. They caught some good quality fish on em too. They look kinda gimmicky to me, but he said that they dart hard to the side when jerked on a slack line. They are suppose to be good for working deep brushpiles and timber where most people throw a big worm or jig. Something different I guess.

Favorite Popper???
Forgot to mention the LC Gunfish. Its similiar to the chug bug.

Real Swimbaits Vs Paddletails
I dont catch the numbers on Paddletails (skinny dippers, LFT Live Magic Shad), but I catch better quality fish. I catch 75% of my fish on crankbaits, but my bigger fish seem to come on paddletails AND spinnerbaits. Spinnerbaits produce bigger bites than cranks and about the same as a paddletail.

Topwater/ Jerk Bait Rod
The Clark Wendlandt Cara rods are on sale for $99.99 at ***.com. They have a 7' MH/MF rod which would suite you well. They are normally $200 rods.

I like the fluke to be weightless also. Let it fall in their face and they'll bite it. I went again yesterday from 6:30-2:00 and caught 30 fish with the biggest being 4lbs. Had 2 other 4+lbers come off in the grass. That stuff is so thick that once they bury up in it, there is no way of getting em out without trolling over to em. Im not sure if it was me or the fish yesterday, but I couldn't get em to bite like they had been. I know that they were still in the area because every few minutes a couple of fish would bust shad in the grass and I had one good school come up in 12 fow, but once they went down, they were done for the day. Hopefully it will pick back up this weekend. I caught them on spooks, a skinny dipper, and a pointer. This was once again in the Indian Mounds/Housen area. I'll be back Friday evening/Saturday. Good luck to all those who will be fishing.

Topwater/ Jerk Bait Rod
I prefer a M/F rod for both topwater and jerbaits. I would recommend a St. Croix Avid 6'6" M/F or a Shimano Crucial 6'6" M/F.
