  1. I have been running as long as Im in the river. Once I get in less than 20 fow I idle. I actually saw a party barge hit a stump in the n/s boat lane between white oak and Housen last Saturday. There is no need to run far though because the fish are everywhere. I know some guys who have been putting in at the Pentelen Bridge, Texas side and running the river all the way up to 1215, but then they have been idling across the lake to get there. Like I said, I wouldn't hesitate to run the river, but Im going to idle everywhere else. They have been doing pretty good up there also on frogs, poppers, and punch rigs from what Ive heard. And yes, there is alot of new hydrilla. As for the crankbait Im fishing, it is a Lucky Craft BDS Mini Ghost Minnow. Its a killer up there when the sun is out. Good luck, be careful, and have fun!
  2. I own both and they are both great reels. For flipping, I would probably buy the Curado 50E. It throws lighter baits better and flips and pithces better. That being said, when you get the Patriarch dialed in, you can cast that thing a mile.
  3. I've been around the Indian Mounds/Housen Bay area, but from what its been like the past few days, you can catch em anywhere. I was idling from Housen to the mouth of Six Mile and saw some grass on my graph so I decided to stop and fish it for a second and caught a 4lber 1st cast on a crank. I was just stopped out in the middle of nothing lol. They are literally hitting everything, everywhere. I also hope this front dont slow em down, cuz Ill be back Saturday if I can find someone to go with me.
  4. Bored with fishing...probably not Bored with Kim Kardashian...DEFINATLY NOT!
  5. Yea the screw lock hooks are weighted. The deeper I want to fish them, the heavier weight I use.
  6. Hands down, the Storm Chug Bug is the most versitale popper out there. You can pop it or walk it.
  7. Caught 44 bass with a 7lb kicker Saturday and I stopped counting at 50 today. My biggest today was only about 4lbs, but it has been a blast. Spooks, cranks, and wacky worms in 8-12 fow with grass has been the most productive by far.
  8. I have a Savvy 734 and have no complaints so far. It balances well and fishes great!
  9. 20lb Seagar Invizx for basic flipping 15lb Seagar Invizx for light flipping 65lb Suffix Braid for grass
  10. I currently use a Vendetta 6'9" MH/F and it works fine, but Im about to upgrade to a new Crucial Reaction Series 6'10" MH/F
  11. Spooks, Sammys, Buzzbaits, Bomber Fat Free Fingerlings, Wacky Worm
  12. If your talking about the LFT Live Magic Shad you are right. That thing is amazing. I love those things. Not the most durable bait in the world, but I can normally catch 5 or so on one before I have to change. Upgrade your hook to a Moaner 5/0 or 6/0 screw lock hook and it will make a world of difference in both hook ups and saving your baits.
  13. A 6'6" to 7' M/F or M/EF is the perfect soft jerkbait rod IMO. I have thrown flukes on just about everything and I decided to buy the Crucial 7' M/EF and it is perfect for this application!
  14. The Savvy is probably the best balanced rod, but the Powell and Avid seem to be a little more sensitive. Like I said, all three are great rods. Im not knockin the Duckett rods either. They are good too, I just felt it was a little heavier than the Powell and Savvy and not quite as sensitive.
  15. I dont own one of these, but Ive held one in the store. It feels great, although I wouldn't call it "ubber light". THe Vendetta is actually considered a "heavier" rod nowadays. Rods get so much lighter every month it seems. Feel the Verita, it blows the Vendetta out of the water. As far as the H2O reels go, I have a Mettle and man that thing cast a mile. I can cast a small pop-r on my Mettle farther than a heavy spook on my Curado! It isnt the smoothest reel, but it can cast a country mile!
  16. I just bought a Crucial 7' M/EF rod with A Citica reel just for soft jerbaits and senkos and I love it!
  17. I do not own a duckett, but i have fished one and they do not even compare to thr Dobyns savvy or Powell Max or Endurance. I usedto throw plastics on a 703CEF Powell Max and I loved it. I broke it, sent it off and recieved a brand new Powell Endurance 714CEF rod. It is a sick jig rod, but a little too much for plastics. Right now I am using a St. Croix Avid 7' MH/F rod and I really like it too. I still prefer my old Powell Max 704CEF for plastics though. I also own a Dobyns Savvy 734C rod and it is a super versital stick, but I have yet to use it for plastics. Right now Im throwing jigs/swimbaits/frogs on it. Either way...all $150 rods are going to be good rods. I personally thought the Duckett was heavier and dead. I would recommed a Powell Max 704CEF or 703CEF according to how heavy of a rod you like. THe Avid is great too, but its a little much at $200. Also, look at the warranty of each company, that should be a big deciding factor too. Like I said, I broke my Powell Max and recieved a Powell Endurance for free. A free upgrade! Although I did like the Max better.
  18. Yea me too! I went to Toledo out of the indian mounds and caught 44 with a 7lb kicker saturday. I had surgery thius morning getting my wisdom teeth cut out, but if im in good shape wed. Im goin back!
  19. A great boat with a great hull. The TR series hulls were the fastest hulls triton built. Like Hooligan said though, they do walk bad. I had a TR196 and that thing started walking at 67 mph. It takes alot of time and practice driving it, but it is a smooth ride in rough water and had plenty of storage. You will love it.
  20. Keep it simple. Greenpumpkin, wtml/red, black n blue, falcon lake craw.
  21. I fished it a few times. That place can be tough because of the lack of grass. Most fish are deep out there, so you need good electronics to find brushpiles to catch the big girls.
  22. I've pretty much used em all. I favor the Rago Robo Mini BV3D Inline Swimbait. Its the same bait Brian Velvick won with on Clear Lake. Its awesome. The fish just inhale that thing and the hook up ratio is really good. For a smaller profile I like the RI Skinny Dipper and LFT Live Magic Shad.
  23. Dang! THats a fine boat. AInt nobody gonna beat you to your spots lol.
  24. I have a 50e that I bought a couple months ago. Its one heck of a reel for that price. Its gonna be hard to beat. The only other reel that I would suggest looking at is the Pflueger Patriarch at TW for 109.99. Its a beast! You cant really go wrong either way though.
  25. I live in Pineville, LA, which is connected to Alexandria. I fish in the Southernboyz bass club. It's a really good club of good guys. Check out the website www.southernboyzbassclub.com My favorite places to fish close is Saline Lake (20 minutes), Red River (2 minutes), Cane River (30 minutes), and Toledo Bend (1 hour and 15 minutes). PM me if ya got any more questions.
