  1. I'll bet it translates into anything you want if you are good enough to knock cans out of the air when casting! It's like Byron Ferguson shooting the longbow. He can hit anything up, down, left, right, straight ahead etc.
  2. Parts 1 and 2 of my BFS combo. A Loomis CR721IMX will be next.

  4. I recently purchased some Sunline Sniper FC because it was highly recommended by a lot of guys on this forum. If you go back a few pages you will easily find the Thread. Anyway, I bought some in 10 and 12# and I do like it a lot but I have also ordered some KVD Line and Lure Conditioner from TW to try out on the Sniper to see if it makes any better than it already is.
  5. If you can't locate the Cuado 200E7 that you want, the Scorpion XT1500-7 can be had for around $180.00 plus shipping from Japan Lure Shop. Minus the color, the big knobs found on the E7 and a graphite star drag vs aluminum, it's the same reel.
  6. Braid backing gives you a lighter spool than mono. That means something if you are casting lighter lures. Fill your spool up with whatever backing you decide on that is roughly the same diameter that your main line is going to be. Tie on a little bit heavier lure than you are going to throw with this combo and make some casts. Some people recommend doubling their casts. That means after you cast out with the heavier lure, pull an equal amount off and then refill with your main line.
  7. I regretted selling my CU50E so I bought another one a few weeks ago.
  8. I always use a little bit of mono first when using braid.
  9. Are you using braid and is it slipping on the spool?
  10. I did this and I got the same results. With 3 cans in the bag, I mean I literally have to tighten the drag to the point that it won't tighten anymore. When I send in another reel, you should try this and then do a Carbontex upgrade and see if it makes a difference. But still, a Conquest 50 isn't known for having a strong drag and at the 3# setting, it is much tighter than I fish with.
  11. I just measured my drag for the very first time. My results were IMHO, very surprising. Usually I set it by feel. I pull on the line and set it to where I think it's tight enough. The rod was a Loomis MBR782, the reel a Conquest 50 and the line was 10# Sniper FC. For the weight, I grabbed three 16oz cans of diced tomatoes out of the pantry and I weighed them on a scale. Total weight for the three cans was around 3# 3oz. I put the cans in a plastic bag and I attached the hook to the plastic bag and I began to lift. I found out that I needed to crank the drag all the way down to the point that it is locked down in order to lift the bag off the ground. My 2 power Loomis was bent over in a way that I was uncomfortable with. I then repeated the process with 2 cans and then 1 can. The results were extremely surprising. I don't even come close to setting my drag that tight when I fish. I probably have it set at around 1#. Even with just 1 can of tomatoes elevated off the ground, the line still kept creeping out until I tightened the drag until it stopped creeping. When I pulled on the line at that drag setting, it was harder to pull out than it is when I am fishing. These results make me wonder why in the heck people place such a big emphasis on a strong drag for a reel that is used for bass fishing.
  12. Still have the rod, a Loomis MBR844IMX. I regretfully sold the reel, Curado 50E. The worm was a Bass Assasin worm in Red Shad.
  13. They are small but not too small. They are light, have great performance and they look great. I can see the line capacity issues for heavier lines but I have never had that problem. It's not like they have super shallow spools and are a very limited use reel because of it. Bantam 1 says the line capacity issue is the reason that we don't see a new Curado 50. He also said that Shimano's thinking with the 50 was that guys would start using braid with a leader so there would be no line capacity issues but guys have been slow to do that.
  14. Everyone should own at least one 50 size Shimano!
  15. Looks like they only have the 201 in stock and you need to add $15.55 to the total. Japan Lure Shop is where you want to buy from IMHO!
  16. You have a great WalMart! The highest end reel at a WalMart around here is a Shimano Caenan.
  17. Yeah just about everything with guns is expensive! Years ago, gotta be over 8 years ago, I paid $1200.00 for a Bushmaster Gas Piston Upper for my AR. I'll bet that I haven't shot 50 rounds through it since I bought it. Speaking of Springfield Armory, I do regret selling my M1A Scout Squad years ago. I sold all of my AK's except one and my Scout Squad because IIRC, mil surplus ammo was drying up and ammo in general was getting very expensive. I did keep a Bulgarian 5.45 parts kit build because I do have a sizable stash of 5.45.
  18. Ive noticed! My momma always said.....son, if you don't have anything nice to say, keep your d**n mouth shut!
  19. I may start this process tomorrow and I am guarenteed to post pics of it if I get it. LOL
  20. The combo that I want right now is the Megabass F2.1/2-64X4 Hedgehog and I want to pair it up with the Megabass Hedgehog Customs Alphas that Japan Tackle has right now. I am just having hard time justifying a $1100.00 finesse bank fishing rig.
  21. In my limited experience with oiling bearings, TSI 321 and Bantam Oil, I thought that TSI 321 was super thin.......at least compared to Bantam Oil. I think on my next order with Hedgehog, I will get some Alchemy Oil to try out.
