  1. graphite - mod fast or fast
  2. does the line rest on her distal interphalangeal joint (the crease between top and middle phalanx)? if so, have her lay the line in the middle part of the top phalanx, inline with the bottom of her fingernail if that makes sense. on the meat - not the crease.
  3. Nathan's and Hebrew National!
  4. you want to spend more on your plastics rod as the sensitivity will be more important. for moving baits its not needed but is nice to have! cant vouch for the presidents but ive heard good things about them. the power of the rod not only matters for lure weights but also the type of stuff you will be throwing the baits into. what part of the country to do you live in? if you have a lot of grass and a lot of cover to fish in, youre going to want a MH. ML is only good for finesse and light moving baits. not good at getting heavier hooks buried. i would not fish any of the baits in your first post on a ML except a small topwater maybe. There are some big differences in power ratings between different manufacturers. A St. Croix Med, for example, is more powerful than a G Loomis Med. i'd buy the third rod after youve spent some time fishing your local waters and decide if you need a heavy for the heavier cover and/or larger baits or a med light for finesse fishing and light weight trebles.
  5. good stuff, Wayne. I don't think id need 11.4 gallons for a 9.9.
  6. the FMJ is more powerful. i didnt get to drag jigs on rocks when i fished it on the Potomac but I will say the NRX is more sensitive in my hands. i had no problem detecting bites and both days i used the FMJ, they were sucking it up and staying put. it is a sensitive stick, no doubt. balance goes to the FMJ. and IMO the FMJ is way more comfortable to palm. hope to see a new NRX line with thinner foregrips soon.
  7. thanks, Wayne. how many batteries were you able to fit in the rear compartment? looking to get a 80# TM.
  8. id get 2 $175 rods and work up from there, especially if you think you are in for the long run. Avids or Mojos maybe. if you ever decide to upgrade from that, they will make excellent moving bait rods. buying used is not a bad idea, you will still have the goldstar plan. $100 will still get you a great rod if you are not sure how often you will go fishing. i'd still only buy two to start. 6'8"-7'3" Med Fast spinning 6'8"-7'3" MH Fast casting no problem if you want to go spinning on both. a cheaper spinning reel is better than a cheaper BC reel in my opinion. id look at shimano. you can get away with a fast rod with shallow and med diving cranks but i wouldnt use braid. not that you asked but Yo-Zuri Hybrid is a great all-around line and very cheap.
  9. i traded a NRX 873 for it and do not regret it at all.
  10. i use 6'6"-7'3". if you are sitting, walking baits and jerkbaits will be fished with side twitches and its easier to pitch baits with a shorter rod. i do a lot of roll casts when sitting. for long casts i dont see any reason why not to use a longer rod.
  11. Hello, I am looking into buying a bass boat for the 9.9hp restricted lakes I fish. I'd like to purchase a light weight bass boat rather than a jon. Besides the Tracker 170 pro (878lbs) is there anything else that i should look at? the 160 pro is a bit too small. Also, can you recommend a prop for a Mercury 9.9 to give me a little more speed? Thanks, -Z
  12. fished the Daemos and FMJ and they are both incredible. The Daemos is not like the XX Diablo, it is quite a bit faster. Both have awesome sensitivity, very well balanced and light weight.. Only fished jigs on them but I plan on trying out some frogs and 1 oz swimbaits on the FMJ and single hook moving baits on the Daemos this wkend.
  13. I use mono, copoly, FC and braid. Depends on the situation.
  14. although I have not fished the Chimaera, I think the FMJ will be more sensitive and crisp. there will be more Destroyer USA models released in the future, I hope a rod like the Chimaera is one of them, id buy it for sure. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/video.html?pcode=MBDUSA#HeB42razu8U
  15. slime coat damage can kill a fish. it protects them against infections. lip them or net them instead of flipping into the boat when not fishing for money. wet your hands when possible before handling.
  16. straight braid, braid with leader, or straight FC. all personal preference but id go straight FC on both. i wouldnt use mono because of the jig and t-rigs.
  17. my spinnerbait rods tend to be more mod fast to fast and jig rods fast to x-fast. you obviously don't need as much sensitivity on a dedicated spinnerbait rod but it doesnt hurt. i typically use a MH power for 3/8-5/8oz spinnerbaits. a nice sensitive jig rod that is not too fast would probably do both jobs very well. as well as bladed jigs, paddletails on jigheads, buzzbaits etc... my single hook moving baits tend to be a bit heavier than the jigs (plus plastic) thrown on the same rod because of cover and the fact that i dont like too much bend in the rod when working jigs through cover and when dragging.
  18. i have heard the same of the PP. i almost ordered one from the tackle trap but couldnt justify a dedicated frog rod. heard it has a great tip for working frogs and the backbone to pull them out. no slouch in the sensitivity department either for jig/worm. i own the XX Flat Side and Diablo and i cannot see myself selling them. squarebill/lipless/med diving cranks on the FSS and heavier single hook moving baits on the DSR.
  19. which are you looking at? I like my 2 XX a bit more than the two XXX i bought, sold one and kept the rattle viper for jerkbaits and topwater over 1/4oz
  20. yeah, sorry, I was referring to the new version. thanks.
  21. Has anyone fished any of these yet? What do you think? Particularly interested in the Daemos and FMJ.
  22. pop-x is my favorite by far
  23. like already mentioned - buy some skirts, collars and a $2 skirt tool.
  24. Not sure what your budget is but something like the XX Diablo Spec R might be worth a look. If you are looking for a MH and want to use frogs, I assume its not very heavy cover or you will want a more powerful rod once you hook into one. The rod I mentioned is a Fast (maybe mod fast) 7'2" powerful MH or light H I'd say. Better suited for the spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, buzzbaits on your list. You can walk topwaters and frogs with it. Unless you are standing in the kayak its a side to side twitch of the rod for walking so length doesnt matter much to me as long as its balanced. Not that you asked but I either kayak fish or co-angle so I always carry 3-5 rods. Over the years I have bought and sold (more buying) a lot of rods and have way more than I could carry. Depending on what body of water I am going to and what I plan on throwing, I grab 3-5 rods and reels from the rack. I have way more rods than reels too, my reels sleep around. Extra spools add versatility when rods outnumber reels. Oh - and you will need a jig rod
  25. Ive bought a few Megabass and NRX rods over the last few years but I cannot seem to sell any of my old GLXs. The 5 MBRs and the 803 BCR.
