  6. I am currently working overseas and I only get to use my tackle every 6 mos or so. i was thinking of putting in a big order for bait and was wondering if soft plastics will still be good a yr or two from now. the bait will be kept at room temperature. i will be fishing in late august and after that i will not be back until next spring. should i just order what i will use this trip or is it ok to stock up? thanks in advance -z

  9. flourocarbon is the way to go with clear water.
  10. thanks for the replies. is there a 10 or 15 mile stretch that is canoe friendly (no major rapids) in the upper potomac? id be parking a car where we drop in and another where we take out. thanks -z
  11. hello. i was wondering what would be a good place to drop in a kayak or canoe for a day's smallmouth fishing trip. i usually canoe/camp the shenandoah but id like to find a nice spot closer to home for day trips. thanks in advance -z
  12. learn how to set up a texas rig and try 4 or 5 inch worms. (prob better for largemouth) try a jig head (i like weedless ones) with a double tail hula grub. inch both of these along the bottom with slight rod tip movements. give them hops from time to time. green pumpkin is a good all around color
  13. if you dont plan on doing class III rapids, check out the native ultimates. super stable canoe/kayak hybrid that you can stand in.
  14. i have a question about those Owner Phantom Weighted Tube Hooks. for 3.5 inch tubes would i want the 3/0 hook?
  15. drive down to shenandoah and rent a canoe. go to downriver outfitters. not huge smallmouth but you should catch a good amt.
  16. alot of the time i use 1/8oz or 1/4oz bitsy bug jigs with tiny chunk trailers. if youve never used a jig before, cast it out, let it sink and slowly drag it by slowly moving your rod tip about six inches at a time (you will develop a feel for what the jig is doing) and pausing for a few seconds. give it little hops for time to time. practice this a few times in shallow clear water where you can see the action of the jig. ive found large smallmouth love crawfish imitations and i use jigs about 75% percent of the time. good luck
