daiwa dead or alive?
When I first saw it, I thought it looked a bit ridiculous but I was definately intrigued and interested. Talked my buddy into being the guinea pig for the bait and he bought one and immediately had great results. He has the baby bass pattern and I watched him catch so many big fish this year on it including a 7-12 largemouth and a SIX-ONE SMALLMOUTH. He has the large version. I've used it too and caught some nice ones w/ it. Reeling it straight works but twitching it fairly slowly really makes it look like a wounded/struggling fish. I agree that taking off the buzz tail is a good option but I know my friend keeps it on always.

Megabass X-80 Trick Darter
the x 80 trick darter is an awesome bait. It's basically a little finesse jerkbait. They are very erratic and really catch fish. The detailing is so great. Megabass baits are truly engineered beyond belief. You can tell a lot of research and development went into all of their baits. Good Pick up on that trade!

Jig info...
For one thing...if you're fishing in ponds that are mostly vegetation on the bottom instead of sand or gravel, usually the ball-type head is not your best option. It is not the most weedless design. Roundball and Football heads are good around sand, gravel, and bigger rocks. For vegetation you usually want a flippin' jig w/ a more pointed head on it. The Picasso Flippin jig is excellent around vegetation along with Revenge, Booyah, and just about any flippin' jig. For very heavy vegetation the All-Terrain Grassmaster Jig is incredible and the Vertical Lures Jig-X is my go-to bait (the line actually feeds thru the head on this one like a bullet weight then ties to a line tie behind the head. Great design.) Of course, most of these jigs are for shallower water when you're pitching/flipping to direct targets like laydowns, brushpiles, weedpatches, beds, or just the shoreline. These jigs have big, heavy gauge hooks on them because most flippin'+pitchin's done in close proximity and it helps to not straighten out/break the hook on powerful hooksets w/ heavy rods. So if you want a jig that is good around vegation but you want to fish deeper water you want a lighter hook for longer casts and longer/deeper hooksets. There is some good casting jigs w/ good designs. The Picasso Flippin' jig does not have a super heavy gauge hook and works great. ProLine Jigs makes a great Casting jig. The Tabu Open Water jig is great. And my absolute favorite jig company for football/finesse jigs is Skinny Bear. They make a great casting jig that is awesome for finesse/cold water called the Pro Series Signature Jigs. They are incredible. All these jigs I've mentioned are available at ***.com. Do not ever give up on the jig. If you want to become a great fisherman there is NO better lure at all to "Master". (even though you can never truly MASTER it, always learn) More tournaments are won using jigs than anything at least around here. They work great in any season and there is jigs for every situation. Keep jiggin' bud!

Wire for Jig Tying
Where can I get it? Is there any type of wire I can get at a craft store/hardware store that is sufficient w/ out having to wait for an order from an on-line supplier? I would like to start tying a batch and would rather not use thread.

Wacky Wormin' in Stained/Muddy water??? Feast or Famine??
I am wondering if fishing a wacky rigged stickbait in very stained almost muddy water is a technique that will work? Will it produce enough water displacement or will I basically have to hit the fish on the head with it? I am thinking when it's twitched it would move enough water but I am not sure. I have a tournament on very stained water this weekend and think it would really produce around the abundance of shallow, visible cover in this pond, is this a good idea or not?

NEW curado 200E7 question
On *** these are still only available for pre-order. I would assume that'd mean t hey aren't available yet but on Cabelas and on Fishusa.com and on ebay they are available to order and it says nothing in the way of notifying you that it's a pre-order so it seems they have them in stock...Does anyone know if these are available for sure or not? and has anybody ordered and received one yet???

SMALLIE TOURNAMENT-Need Help!!!
I have an important tournament this Sunday (6/29) and it is one of our tournaments that is geared totally towards smallies. The lake we are fishing holds VERY little largemouth, if any at all. So, my partner and I have to target smalljaws. When I was younger I prided myself on being a great smallmouth fisherman and now the last few years I have really turned into more of a "power" largemouth guy. We have pre-fished the lake the tourney's on twice so far with UN promising results. I need ANY pointers I can get and I am going to write my initial rigging plan and please let me know if anyone has any better suggestions/tips/criticisms/ANYTHING! Pond: Ultra "gin-clear" lake. 1200 acres. Known as an excellent trout pond. Stocked HEAVILY every spring and fall with rainbow, brook, and brown trout. Also salmon. Known to hold ENORMOUS smallmouth. (which one???) 6'9" MH Kistler Helium LTA casting rod: Cannot decide: Either a 5/16oz. Watermelon Eakins Jig with a watermelon/rd. flk. BPS Twin Tail grup trailer, OR, a 3/8oz. Black Jig head with a 4" watermelon ribbed grub. WHICH ONE??? 7'0" MH Kistler MagTS CRANKING casting rod: In the morning a Heddon Super Spook Jr. in a bluegill-type pattern, In the late morning/midday: a Lucky Craft Lipless crank in Moss Craw pattern, OR a Strike King Series 6 Deep diving crank in Sexy Shad pattern )WHICH ONE???( SPINNING: 6'9" M Kistler Helium II LTX spinning rod: A drop shot rig with a strike king Elaztech Super Finesse Worm in Watermelonseed. 7'0" MH Falcon CARA spinning rod: 5/16oz. PLEASE let me know if any of you guys have any other suggestions or if you think I should throw anything else other than what I wrote or if I should throw a rig on a different rod or ANYTHING at all to help me. It would be g r e a t l y appreciated!!! Thanx in advance!!
