  1. i had the 7ft 3in med hvy rod and used it for football jigs...it seemed a bit underpowered for the rating of med hvy but i rly liked tho only problem i had was it was hard to drive a hook with it being so under powered but it got stolen with all my other rods so i no longer have it but it also was very light and felt great in my hands the first few trips i didnt notice the micro guides much but then i started to notice them in the smoothness of the cast and i got a bit of distance i would say go for it im pretty sure im going to pick up a few more of them to replace the rods i had stolen.
  2. theres a vlog on tw and jared litner is reviewing the rod you might wanna check it out
  3. thanks lskaggs905@yahoo.com
  4. im finally fed up with trying to find jigs that have the colors, hooks, heads and materials i want in one and even the ones that are closest to what i want i have to order because nowhere around here carries them so i am looking for a website or video to teach me how to tie jigs also whats a good webiste for quality materials. Thanks in advance
  5. great video...all the videos glenn puts up are good keep em coming
  6. i buy alot of my reels off ebay. you can find a new citica for about 90 if you look around. i would definitly go with the citica i have 3 of them and and curado and will be buying another citica in a few days. there really great smooth reels and they cast very well
  7. the first time i tied on anything beside a nightcrawler it was a bomber flat a in firetiger and on my first cast i caught a largemouth thats what hooked me when i was probably 7 or 8 so for a few years i slung crankbaits almost every summer day in a pond behind my house then i picked up a work and started catching more fish a ive started to get away from hardbaits but im trying to phase them back in.
  8. if u dont allready have braid you will want to get that 50 or 65lb and walk it like you would a spook over grass and try skipping it up under overhanging trees
  9. latley its been my frog rod...im using a powell 7ft hvy with a citica and 50lb power pro soon im goin to get one of the powell frog rods but noone around here has the balls to throw frogs in some places on a really pressured river i fish ive started to skip them under trees others look past and fish them just about everywhere and when its on its on. it doesnt allways work but sunday was a tough day we had rising water and the river was up about 3 or 4 feet and one team brought in a limit...i found three fish and won. the big fish have hardly ever seen this before and i think thats why it works in fact i have caught more big ones in the last 2 weeks than i have in a year on this river......o wait this is a rod thread haha
  10. god i wish i woulda seen this thread last night....i was on the lake today and decided to give the bronzeye frog a try for the first time and they wacked it and i say that because i DIDNT wack them i got tons of bites in one area and saw some biggus hit it but i couldnt get a hook in them to save my life i only got a hook in one but it was a runt a made sure i waited a little but maybe i didnt wait enough. > still caught a lot of fish fishing weed lines with a brush hog but none the size that i was gettin to bite the frog
  11. as far as color throw anything as long as its black haha not really but its always my starting point if im in clear water ill throw a watermelon color of some sort stained water ill go with darker colors. also goto tackle warehouse they have a huge selection of jigs but grab 1 or 2 of different brands and try em out you might find you like one brand more than other for certain situations
  12. i have the 7ft mh spinnerbait rod that i use for pitching and like it alot not as nice as my powell i use for pitching to but it gets the job done
  13. one of the resivoirs i fish has alot of these fish and all on the big ones have it and i mean all so i think its good. but the slime coat removal thing could be true too because its a very pressured and poluted river
  14. never caught anything bigger than 6 but this brought back memories of my first big fish. it was summer in elementary school and i was home alone so i grabbed my rod and a couple bomber crankbaits in firetiger (the only bait i used when i was little and it caught my first bass) went to the corner of a pond by some businesses behind my house ad casted parallel to the bank and it hit it then it jumped and my heart was racing. it was about 3 lbs but i said it was 4 for while haha ill never forget that fish.
  15. thanks for all the replys....before a tournament i allways study my maps but im not sure how well. I usually look at the lakes contour then try to find area that have migration routes from deeper to shallow areas. then try to find those areas on google earth to see if they look like they could have cover on them. am i doing this right? also this year ive been cleaning up my presentation. i took a trip with steve boyd on toho and he tought me alot about my pitching and the way i work whatever im throwing. hopefully ill be able to put this all together for my first tournament of the year on the 18th
  16. these men speak the truth....i have a 7ft hvy and its what i do all my pitchin with i have a curado on it and love it sensitive light and stout enough to get fish from cover
  17. Last year i got into competitive fishing and i got a reality check. I found out.....im clueless when it comes to finding fish. Now im trying to gather all the information i can. So i ask you when you pull up to the lake what do you look for and what goes through your mind when trying to locate fish. Also if anyone has watched any videos or books that helped them please list them. Thanks in advance.

  22. running up on a shallow flat with my outboard and breaking the shear pin...had to run back to the ramp with the old trolling motor i had at the time a 28# thrust needless to say it took awhile forgetting to grab a new drain plug and getting to the lake and realizeing it after launching the boat and having water trickle in through the old one had my mom drop off the new one fishing some stripmine pits and going off the beaten path sliding down a real steep ledge to get to a pond and preaking a eye off my rod.....the bigger problem was getting back up the ledge had a area sure to produce a few quality fish in a federation nation tournament and going to early before the sun got up a pulled the fish to the cover and wasted to much time
  23. bomber fat free shads and srike king series 5 also some bandits
  24. buckeye outdoors...its about a 45 min drive but the only place around me that has a good selection of higher end stuff, rods and reels and its like a mini bass pro but the people who work there act more like the people at a local bait shop.
  25. last year i used the rod you speak of to pitch and it did me well i dont have any complants but im switching it to a spinnerbait rod because i think it does a little better doing that and i bought a powell 704c for my pitching... its lighter and a bit more sensitive from what i can tell but i havent had much time to fish with it
