2014 Bassmaster Champion-Randy Howell
He got cheated out of $200,000 as the Morons at B.A.S.S dropped the 1st place prize down to $300,000. Tight Lines Pa Angler

Does Anyone Else Hate That The Bassmaster Classic Is In February?
I agree with The Rooster when it comes to weigh in the B.A.S.S. needs to watch the FLW as they don't put the fish in a clear box and slam a lid on them their box has a water solution for the fish to be upright like they are in open water. Tight Lines Pa Angler

Classic Payout
I must have missed it but why was the 1st place payout reduced from $500,000 to $300,000 isn't the FLW still giving $500,000 for the Forrest L. Wood Cup. Seems like B.A.S.S. now taking a back seat to the FLW. Tight Lines Pa Angler

Does Anyone Else Hate That The Bassmaster Classic Is In February?
Liked it more in the summer than now Waddington, NY would have been a great Classic this past August it's Smallie time then the winning weight was just over 88lbs that was more than the 2014 Classic. Tight Lines Pa Angler

2014 Ranger Rt178 Or Tracker Txw?
I aplogize for the confusion the original post compared the Ranger 178 and the Tracker 175TXW so I was reporting my findings on that. The Tracker 190TX comes with a 90hp Optimax the Ranger comes with a Rude 90hp Blue the Optimax is a $1,100 upgrade on the Ranger.which cost a total of $1,600 more on the Ranger. If cost is an issue then $1,600 is a lot but then if one's mind is already decided on what brand then cost may not be an issue. I hope whatever one buys one will be happy. Tight Lines Pa Angler

2014 Ranger Rt178 Or Tracker Txw?
Been to the Ranger website Ranger comes stock with a 25hp motor while the Tracker comes with a 60hp motor for about the same money can't imagine running the Ranger with a 25hp motor one would not be happy with it both have a max rating of 75hp. Tracker's estimated top end is higher as well with both having a 75 on the back the Ranger is $1,800 more. Tight Lines Pa Angler Tight Lines Pa Angler

Hooked Hull
I wouldn't run on the Lehgh River test runing my Bass boat at WOT I would take it to the Pack for that just stating I don't fish the Lehigh River no matter how close it is not knowning where I would run out water would be an issue. I spend a total of five weeks of vacation between the St Lawrence and Black Lake, NY which is only 7 miles from the St lawrence and 1 week at the Pack. Not trying to be disrespectful I just don't fish the Lehigh River maybe if I had a Tracker with a jet motor it would be an option for me but I like my glass hull the way it is in one piece. I also fish Lake Ontario while I'm up there as well. Yes, warmer days are coming and my first trip of the year will be a day at the Pack. Thank you for the suggestion I'll keep in mind if I ever get info on where the low water areas are. Tight Lines Pa Angler

2014 Ranger Rt178 Or Tracker Txw?
It seems that all the Tracker complaints are with BPS Power Pro's if you check my hooked hull post it also seems you'll get better service at a stand alone dealer. Just a couple of years ago a Ranger video compared their glass boats to equivalent aluminum boats stating glass was the way to go now in order to compete with volume Ranger has made an about face that video is no longer shown on their website. I would't turn a blind eye to Tracker or Nitro do your own hands on research all brands have some problems now and then including Ranger. Tight Lines Pa Angler

Hooked Hull
There be no fishing the Lehigh River for me with storm after storm coming our way 12" today with 3" to 6" tonight heck I don't even fish the Lehigh River in the best of weather once one has fished the 1000 Islands of the St Lawrence River nothing down here can measure up. Tight Lines Pa Angler

Hooked Hull
I don't mean to bump this up but I did say I would give a final report on the outcome. I took the new 2014 Nitro Z7 to the storage facility on 02-10-2014 it was a shiney clean boat when I left the dealer but buy the time I got it to the storage facility it was a dirty mess with the wet salty roads here in PA. As I stated earlier in this post the only items moved from my old 2011 Z7 are the 36v trolling motor, 4 AGM battieries, 4 bank 60amp charger, Loc-R-Bar, Outboard, 2 cycle oil tank and manual jackplate I did have to keep the orginal trailer and boat cover though. When I was told I was getting new Lowrance electronics I thought I was gettting the what was on the old 2011 Z7 which included Gen 1: bow HDS 5 Insight, dash HDS 7 Insight and Struturescan to my surprise I was givin the upgraded Gen 2 across the board. I have to say the way Tracker Marine took care of replacing a boat with hooked hull was outstanding. My dealer told me that 2 more Z7's around my serial number also being replaced. Now once all the freak weather in the northeast is finished and the ice disappears from the lakes I will give a shake down run. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!! Tight Lines Pa Angler

Unloading Your Boat
I assume you have ram mounted units both mine are both flush mounted I never remove them on the road or at an outdoor gated facility were I store my boat. I do remove all gear during the winter storage other than the AGM batteries. I also keep all lockable storage compartments locked except when I'm on the water. I do remove PFD's after each trip. Z6 Boat Cover
Hello, I have trailered a 2011 Z7 for three seasons with the Nitro cover on and have had no damage to the boat finish one also must understand the road dirt being kicked up while traveling at high speeds will cause more damage to the boat than the cover will. I love the fit and finish of the Nitro cover. Just my experiance. Tight Lines Pa Angler

Best Batteries?
If you can afford it I would go with AGM batteries Sears has a good series of them but also you would need a charger that's AGM compliant I have four AGM batteries on my boat one cranking and three for the 36v trolling motor I have a 4 bank 4 x 15amp Dual Pro I called Dual Pro to ask about AGM's and I was told the charger was good to go. No water to add, has a longer life and doesn't have the corrosion problems that wet cells have. Go with the largest size you can fit. Tight Lines Pa Angler

What Was Your First Boat?
Mine was a new 2004 Tracker Targa 17 SC Deep V with a 90hp ELPTO Merc., 60" 24v Powerdrive AP/Co-Pilot US1 with an FishMark 480 and an LMS 480 on the Dash. Tight Lines Pa Angler

Backing Question
I know about the braid ready spools however my spools aren't those kind I still have to use backing to prevent slip I'm not going to buy spools for 12 reels even if they are available the backing is already there if I need to respool with braid. The backing I use isn't to save on braid but to prevent obvious line slip. Tight Lines Pa Angler

Backing Question
The reason I use backing is I have found without it braid will spin on the spool the backing gives braid something to bite into. Tight Lines Pa Angler
