Well guys, I got my stuff back. She never confessed to having it, but it turned back up in my boat. I did a little pay back that she wasn't expecting. As soon as I saw that it was back I walked back in the house and told her to come with me. We went to the local shop and got locking hatches and a lock bar for all my compartments on my boat... you should have seen the look on her face, but she was to stubourn to admit that she did it. haha. Thanks for all your posts guys, Most of them had me rolling on the ground laughing.

Probably the best decision you have made so far. I rushed into a boat and to be honest with you, I wish I never would have even read the add about it. Thankfully I managed to get rid of it, but it did cost me. Good luck with the hunt.

Ok guys, Got some a little time to tamper with the boat last night. I didn't have a chance to put it on the lake, but i do have a set clamps that i can hook up to the water hose and up to the outboard. 1) I left the motor off, and put it in gear and I COULD NOT spin the hub. So does that mean that its all good? 2) How do I check the RPMs? 3) When the boat was on plane previously, it was the same prop as is on it now. I haven't changed anything on the boat. And i've taken weight from the back of the boat, and put it up front thinking that it would help. 4) It does have a hydrofoil on the motor 5) Another thought, if water somehow got in my gas, could that rob some horse power? 6) Could it need/use a carb cleaning or rebuild? I don't think the boat has seen any kind of normal upkeep since it was new in 1985.

The lake is called "Bone Creek" It's about 5 miles north and 3 miles west of Arma, KS. If you google it maybe you can better info to find it on your map. I've tried to find maps so i can see the bottom, where is the best place to locate those?

Well, we don't have any kids. I'm thinking about sending her to the spa for a day. That way she can get her nails done and a massage and whatever else those people do.

So.... I made possibly the biggest mistake in the world. I went about a month ago to register my boat, and I forgot to tell the fiance that i had spent that money. I also ordered 2 new quantum reels. All in all i wrote a check for about $300 bones. I never thought to tell her, just didn' think it was important I guess. Well, she asked me about a day ago if i had spent any money. Well, let me tell you, I would forget my head if it wasn't attached and i said that i didnt think so. Well she let it go, and about 4 hours later she asked again. I made the same reply. Well, I go hook up my boat this morning and go to the gas station and break out my check booka and see the stub to the previous check i wrote... My first thought was oh man, i'm in trouble. I fill up anyways and go to put some ice in the boat, when i realize none of my fishing stuff was in the boat. I call my fiance and ask her if she had see my fishing stuff. Her reply.... I DON'T THINK SO.....

If you are going to get small gas motor then i don't see why it wouldn' be worth it. Now, if there are a lot of things wrong with it, like the floor, the transom, the hull, anything like that, then i would simply put the small gas motor on your aluminum boat and call it a day.

The sticker rating for it is an 80hp, But that's not the problem. This boat has been on plane, with me driving, i've had the boat on plane before. Now it isn't. I'll try that FFD, I should have a lot of time to get some work done to it this weekend.

Hey guys, I need some help on fishing deep water. I don't have a good fish finder, so i can't really rely on that. The lake is Bone Creek Lake, in Arma Kansas. It is a 540 acre lake that has about 440 acres of standing timber in it. Not much open here guys. There is a single strip that goes from the north side to the south side for boats to go on, and thats basically all the open water. Surface temp is 84-87 degrees. How do I find those big boys?

I do it all the time, boat goes in the shop, My 2005 F150 goes in the street along with my fiance's 2006 Kia Sorento.

I understand being desperate for a boat. I was on my first boat, but like me, if you get to desperate for a boat, and just settle with the only one you can find, then you are liable to be desperate for money after all the repairs. I wouldn't get a boat with a whole in the floor of it unless you can weld, or no somebody that can weld and will do it for cheap. Welding is expensive to have done, and especially aluminum. I know this because I also am a certified welder in the state of Kansas. If you were closer I'd weld it for you, but until you find those resources, i'd stay clear of the one with the hole. JMO

And further more, I have NEVER in this thread or any other thread said it is OK to break the law. So yes, you are putting words in my mouth, or maybe you can't read. : I have only suggested either a no wake, or speedlimit. And I have made the arguement about what is the difference in 20 mph with a 10 hp or 20 mph with a 200hp, but that seems to be unanswerable.

Ok Speedbead: Maybe you can understand this, If the town you live in has a bad part of town, where maybe there a more problems then other parts of the town, I bet the cops patrol that more don't they? So if there is such a problem on this lake, then why don't they patrol it, or do more about it? sounds like a bunch of whining to me.

Speadbead: you put words in my mouth or misunderstood me. I'm simply saying that if they put the law out, and there are so many people that disobey this, then where is the law? Where are the wardons?

thetr20one: I feel for your daughter, and she sounds like she has the strength and the family support to over come any obsitcle. You and your daughter are in my prayers. Team_Dougherty: The lake that I live on is a very small lake. There is a speedlimit on the lake as well. No hp limit, just a speed limit. There are coves in the lake and docks and all that stuff, and that all is marked as a no wake part of the lake. Our ranger's sit up on the dam and radar boats. I've heard people say that the lake that they are talking about is understaffed, well, don't put that kind of law on the lake if you can't watch it over. I think a simple no wake would be a better choice. CFFF 1.5f: I've seen some of those old johnsons throw more smoke than a freaking steam engine.

Pretty sure that it was stated a few posts back that a jon boat with a 10 hp motor throws bigger wakes then a 200hp motor.

Craigslist is amazing. Keep an eye on that. There are good deals to be found on there, but they don't last long.

I prefer Horny toad over rage tail. I take the toad and put a worm hook, wide gap, (I us Gamakatsu 3/0) Take and stick through the nose and they push it through the gap on it's tummy so that the hook sticks up through the back o the toad. I push it all the way through and then skin it through the frogs back. It works great for me.
