Duckett Casting Reels
Some specs from Duckett's Facebook: -about 5.5oz -Ceramic bearings -Will come in 5, 6, and 7:1 ratios (or thereabouts) -Available in LEFTIES!!!!!!!!!! No word on price point yet, but it has all the makings of a $250-$300 reel. I know you Naysayers are thinking "I'm not gonna pay that much money for a product from a reputation-free company..." Boyd Duckett HIMSELF tests each product on the water. If he doesnt like it, he doesnt put his name on it. PERIOD. Thats the the Ghosts keep getting pushed back. They are coming, but only when Mr. Duckett thinks they are perfect. Who can argue with that?

Duckett Casting Reels
They look great! When you have an error in YOUR design on an outsourced product, you dont SWITCH PRODUCERS. You change your design. Thats how production works... I'm personally looking forward to trying these reels.

New Jersey Roll Call
I live close to Philly now, but I grew up in West Milford fishing Monksville and Greenwood . Moved to Sussex Co as a preteen and THATS when I learned how to bass fish (Hopatcong). My folks live in Dingmans Ferry, Pa and I always try and wet a line when in town.

Shipping Fishing Rods For Less?
It always costs me around $25-$30 to ship a rod in a cardboard tube to, say, the midwest. I cut the tubes down so that they are under 104" total, but its still very expensive. I ship USPS. I want a cheaper route. Anybody out there know how to or WHO ships cheaper?

Anybody Make Their Own Ice Cream?
Its not cheaper, but what people fail to realize is that storebought ice cream tends to be about 50% air! Simple experiment: let store bought ice cream melt...... look at the difference. Use this ratio: -12 Egg Yolks -1 qt Heavy (or raw) cream -1c sugar -1 Vanilla bean, split and seeded (dont be cheap) Put the cream, sugar and vanilla bean (including seeds) in a sauce pot. bring to boil and immediately remove from heat (you're essentially melting the sugar). Next, beat your egg yolks in a bowl, and slowly ladle the hot cream mixture into the yolks while CONSTANTLY whisking the yolks. The goal here is to temper, or slowly raise the tempurature of, the egg yolks. If you do this too fast, theyll curcle and youre SOL. Once the yolk mixture is hot, add all of the liquid. Wait for this to cool. And there you have it; ice cream base. You can also use milk, just use more yolks. You can ALSO make Creme Brulee with this, french toast, bread pudding. I used to be a chef, so it should work. Enjoy!

Finesse Umbrella Rig Recommendation
I just cannot catch a friggin' bass on an A-rig... I live in SE Pa, and we dont have shad here, but mainly bluegills. I've tossed one around quite a bit and no dice...

Maybe it'll be a duel launch??? That would be cool!

Duckett Casting Reels
Side plates, line guide, handle, and knobs all SCREAM Revo. Wouldn't surprise me. Probably made in the same facility. Which, MAY NOT BE A BAD THING! I would happily toss one of those around if it performed like a Revo.

Duckett Casting Reels
Thats the stuff I'm looking for!!! As far as "reinventing the wheel", I think thats uneccessary. As long as the reel PERFORMS, its worth a try. Looks like a spinning reel behind him, too.

Duckett Casting Reels

I heard on MLF's website that Duckett was going to launch a line of baitcasting reels, and I think soon. Does anyone have any inside information? Would love to know... Thanks!

Questions About What Insurance Will/will Not Cover
I can afford to buy a used truck and bass boat, but The cost of Maintainence on a bass boat makes me weary of buying one. I expressed my concern about big out of pocket expenses for a boat to a guy in my bass club and his answer was "thats what insurance is for..." I asked him what are some examples of things insurance would cover vs damage/things I'd have to pay for. I was wondering if some of you experienced boat owners could list things that insurance would cover in relation to damage to your boat, and also list some things that I, the boat owner, have to pay for. What are some of common out of pocket expenses for bass boats? What are the more expensive ones? Let us all know!

Improving Drop-Shot Hook-Up & Landing Ratio...
That's very similar to my set-up, but I use a size 6-1 Gammy DS hook. I'd ask about your hook set. You should be reeling until you feel the weight of the fish, then *gently* lifting (more like leaning) up on the fish. Also, that's the nature of fishing smallies with tiny hooks; you lose some. If you had four bites and lost two, is be concerned. If you had twelve and lost two, that's typical. Can you give more details????

Have You Tried This Swim Bait?
I tried the 110. Like everyone says, pretty mediocre action. I like the Spro BBZ series for hard bodies swim baits.

2014 Elite Series Schedule
I'll bet my paycheck that a lot of guys will run south, through the c&r canal, and onto the Flats. The quality of fish there is much higher than the Smellaware.

Tackle Bag For A Voyager With A Lot Of Tackle...
I have a huge tackle bag now from cabelas. It's the green one with black Mesh; their largest size. It has a padded shoulder strap, but it's way too big. I think incannget away with downsizing my boxes, but I need a new storage option. I'd like suggestions from co-anglers who fish tournies or guys that tore a lot of gear around. I'd like something with wheels or a backpack style tackle bag. What do you use???

Eastern Pa - Main Bait Fish (Shad Or Shiner)
I also hail from the Poconos. One word: PANFISH! I'm not sure why you're asking about baitfish, be it curiousity or for fishing research, but I'll say this: If you're planning a fishing trip and trying to make your lure selection ahead of time, choose baits that match the most common denominator: BLUEGILL. Sure, there are tons of Yellow Perch and Crappies. But Bluegill are everywhere; Alewive and Shad populations are less consistent. Hope this helps! For the record, I've seen more Alewive schools than shad schools...
