  1. BassCat Cougar, I did this last year lol. For me, at the end, Skeeter was a close second. With the new SHO, I'm not sure I wouldn't have landed in that camp.
  2. Nah, there won't be any spectators on that circuit to contend with, lol.
  3. Looks like Myself speedbead pitchinkid jimzee mrjenkins Will be relocating to KY lake. I hope you guys really get on them down there!
  4. I use this one on an HDS8 with no problem. My theory is if it proves to small, I'll move it to the front and buy the bigger one.
  5. Yeah, I've been using them for a while now, and it appears they're starting to make the swing into the main stream. It's really not a fad, imho they make a substantial difference when used properly.
  6. The MHX blanks are a great value, well worth what they cost. I'd easily compare them to blanks that cost twice as much. *cough* st croix *cough* I create/print my own labels, I've never bought them.
  7. My lowrance install was a breeze, I only took off my bird install but I expect its even easier as you don't need to run the extra module. I mounted mine to the jack plate, but I'm contemplating moving it to my trolling motor. My unit picks up great at 2-3 mph. I flipped it around this weekend using my ram mount and was watching it as I trolled along.
  8. I'm not at all worried about them catching all the fish. It's the horde of people that will follow them I'll be concerned with. And did you actually compute that .01%? ;D
  9. For me Jerkbaits Jigs Tight Wobble Cranks Slow Rolling big spinner baits Yeah thats 4... sorry
  10. I have it penciled in, I'm pretty sure its a go. Rod may want to go, if he does we may want to talk about dragging two boats. He may want to take his triton if you guys don't want to put the tracker on the big water.
  11. How do you hack a console? on another note, has anyone seen the rock glitch on Afghan? Current generation consoles are nothing more than pc's. You can do lots of stuff to them, I had a PS3 that I modified to boot slackware(linux). I haven't messed with any hacks, but I've had friends that say they did. From what I understand MS eventually caught up with them and banned the console ids.
  12. I fished that body about 8 years ago, and it was pretty fantastic. We didn't come off the water until dark each day for a week. I expect this week will be a bit different. After the best sticks on earth beat on it for a week, I expect every tom dick and john to be on the lake, especially on or around the spots the top guys fished. The saving grace will be having Wilson, Wheeler, and the BigG not very far away. Should they be needed...
  13. I'm saying go for the biggest you can afford to buy. No piece of equipment is worth creating a hardship for yourself. With the disclaimer out of the way.... Grab the 9, or if possible the 1197 ;D
  14. dude thats nice, I bet that xb makes that rig scream.
  15. Do it! If I had lay lake or any of the bama lakes at my disposal, I'd have to map every inch of it. I promise you'll be amazed...
  16. Just my two cents, buy the biggest screen you can afford. Detail is *much* easier to pick apart on the larger screens. I wouldn't dare try to seriously use the side scan on an HDS 5, you just can't make out all the detail you can see on the larger screens. That's just my opinion...
  17. I took my HDS8 out for the first real test this weekend and honestly I was completely blown away. I had already built up enough hype that it would have been real easy to be let down, but it was more than I could have ever imagined. My boating partner is picking up a unit this week, it was that incredible. You almost feel like your cheating. I ran a Bird unit from late summer until winter. The biggest difference I personally see between the two units is simple image clarity. Both of my units are capable of seeing structure with little problem, the lowrance unit does indeed look better than the HB. The significant difference in my experience, was the ability to actually see the fish. I found a school on a dam spill way/grate that we watched move around on each pass. It was super simple to see balls of baitfish, and identify any feeding fish nearby. The biggest hazard was to make sure I didn't hit floating logs or run onto standing timber because my eyes were completely locked onto what we passed over. Regardless of which you choose to buy, I think you'll be happy.
  18. Thanks, only one of the rods were built for myself, the rest were built for others..
  19. I turn down all my handle pieces. Early on, I used some pre form butts for my first 2-3 builds and I actually I learned to somewhat copy them. The trim rings and rubber caps were bought from mudhole, and I turn down the top portion.
  20. Those are wraps. Thanks!
  21. Its been a while since I've posted any pics so I thought I would post a group of rods I've finished over the past 2 weeks. There is a mix of Batson, MHX, and Castaway blanks. I use 3.5mm batson micros and 4mm Fujis, mostly skeleton seats save the aero spinning rod and the ACS seats.
  22. I think that's it, I need to wrap my boat so I wake up every morning as "Insta Pro", thus having the passive ability to out fish all other non wraps.
  23. Regardless which unit you buy, its fantastic technology. The water problem on the Lowrance Units were upon launch and specific to the HDS7's. The issue has been resolved since last summer. I have both units in my garage, but the HDS8 is the current model on my boat. I honestly prefer the lowrance model, but as I've stated I haven't used it all that much to make a full blown honest comparison. I can say the image quality is much better on the Lowrance, when you hook them both up, its quite evident..
