  1. Lets start growing carrots, I'm sure we can give it a shot! lol They seriously are really really light blanks, next time I have you down 4 or 5 fish, I'll lend you one so you can catch back up!
  2. HuskyBass, son, your catching some toads! Beautiful fish for sure.
  3. Don't let this cat fool you. He catches high quantities of stud small mouth, and usually smokes me when get to fish together. Welcome aboard!
  4. Very nice build. I bet it fishes just as good as it looks as well!
  5. Thanks for the comments, I appreciate it!
  6. both are one piece blanks. The casting rod is spiral wrapped, which transitions the guides to the bottom of the blank. Helps to eliminate rod twist when the blank in under load, and can typically require less guides than conventional placement (top). Its different, but I really like it. Thanks for the comments Flechero. I respect your opinion, so I really appreciate it.
  7. Well I've finished about 5 Rods over the past two months. I've been fishing with several of them over the past month and decided to post a couple pics for you guys to review. The caster below was initially wrapped with 3mm guides, on top of the blank. I wrapped a couple blanks using 3mm micro guides, in a spiral fashion. I was so please with the performance of the spiral rods, I removed the guides from my non traditional builds and re did them. The rods below are Castaway XP3 blanks, 6'9 Med/Fast casting (red/black) and 7'0 ML/Fast spinning (blue/black). Both rods are a pleasure to fish with. I am extremely please with the performance of each blank, the sensitivity is simple amazing. I've almost concluded to remove my little labels, to try and shave a bit more weight. The casting rod is the lightest rod I've ever picked up. These are my first attempts, so any and all feedback, positive or negative, is welcome. Thanks!
  8. Great Job! You should be proud!
  9. That's a beautiful mount! Kudos to you for releasing the fat girl and choosing a replica!
  10. What a weekend! If you ever get a chance to hang out with this bunch, you'll have a blast. Great company, great food, and good fishin (clear water, blue bird days, yadda). I think I caught 5 green fish on Sat, plus a slew of hybrid. I could only manage a single 1-2lber on Sunday, in the three hours we had after pimpin my boat trailer. Huge thanks to Jimzee and his wife, for allowing a gaggle of strange men to take over the house for a weekend. You'll never meet a nicer more accommodating couple. Hell, even the dog thoroughly enjoyed having my calf around for the weekend. Thanks to Bobby and Tom for making the trip north. I really enjoyed getting to meet you guys. Sorry about the lil fella that clung on to my back pocket. Thanks to AJ for the day early "recon" trip of the lake. We even nailed an "elusive" stonewall smallie! If I can ever be host to a planned trip, I'd enjoy doing so. Even if Burley does likes to fog your pillow just before bedtime.
  11. Say what!!?? SS, how much had you drunk before you typed that? : just 2 guiness. lol. and 2 the other guy. is your son looking at depth or just the cover. it USES A DIFFERENT CPU SLOT PER TAB. thats a MAJOR plus to any Browser with just that.. plus its simple.. the cpu thing already makes it virtually impossible to freeze. IE, Safari, Firefox, etc.. All spawn a single .exe process, in which the base .exe thread spawn multiple child threads. Chrome spawns each tab as a new .exe process, but this in no way means each process is dedicated to a different CPU. This will generally create a bit more overhead when viewing multiple sites, but as you mentioned, it alleviates a single site crashing and bringing down all the other sites you have open. A good read on chrome... http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.aspx?i=3398&p=2 Overall I like it; it's a very light weight and speedy attempt at a browser. Unfortunately, in its current form, it doesn't offer the customization of Firefox (add-ons, movable elements, etc.). Which means something to me.
  12. I drop shot a bunch during the summer months. I usually power fish until I locate a bite. At that point I attempt to comb the area with whatever approach is best for that particular spot. More often than not, I pick up my drop shot rig. I prefer to use the clip on weights, although any of the methods mentioned above will certainly work. I base my tag length on the type of bottom I'm fishing. For small rock/gravel, I keep it around 10-12 inches. For grassy types, I may choose a tag upwards of 20 inches. In my opinion, drop shotting is a great technique. Its a technique that can potentially catch any fish in the presentation area. That means you stand to coax both "dinks" and the pigs, into taking the bait. While I do catch some smaller fish, I've caught several largemouth over 6lbs this summer, all on a drop shot.
  13. Stated "Coalfields" as I have family in southeast KY, western VA, and southern WV. Its all the coalfields. Doesn't matter was just in good humor. Looks as if you had a good time!
  14. "I tell you what people, if you ever get the chance to get down in Southwest Virginia and take a fishing trip with Burley and TheBeast" Although my post was just in fun...
  15. Guys if your gonna represent "the coal fields", you gotta do it right... Nailed this pig last saturday, in southern WV none the less. The bite is tough these days... edited for clarifcation...
  16. yeah, as Dan notes, its all pretty shallow. There are a few deeper holes on the back run, and one hole under the bridge. I'll post more pics once I've hit my 10 post requirement. Doing them one by one for now, lol.
  17. This is a radford smallmouth, caught on a fat ika. Lots of great fishing in that area.
  18. Just tossed you a PM. Give me a few club names if/when you get the chance. I appreciate it!
  19. Using information from this specific thread I hit the New River last weekend armed with some Fat Ika's. In the slower moving pools of water, I scored pretty well. I caught several smallies over 20 inches, including a nice 22 incher. Thanks for the information!
  20. Anyone familiar with clubs in the southern WV area? Thanks,
  21. Definitely #1 That smallie is incredible, congrats!
