    Great to have you back!
  12. I had a boat with a tilt trailer that I used for years. Pretty cool getting in and out of lakes with all the car-toppers around. Felt like I was in an aircraft carrier. I never had any problems with it, but cranking it on sometimes was a pain. Make sure you have a strong rope, strong knots, and the eye on the boat is strong enough to handle the stress. It's a dangerous situation if any of those fail while cranking the boat back on.

23 degrees right now. No snow here, but it snowed on Saturday and is still around. It hasn't broke above freezing since Saturday night. They're saying next Saturday it will "warm up" to 36 degrees. Woo hoo!
  14. Nothing wrong with that. There's no "right" or "wrong" way, just what feels comfortable for you. As for line, I fish similar water as you, and I use 50lb Seaguar green Smackdown braid. It's a thin-diameter line, so it's not as visible as braid from the not too distant past. Still, I'll switch to 20 or 25lb Seaguar Fluoro Flippin' line when I'm fishing sparse vegetation. Braid is just overkill in those situations.
  15. Spooling it on tight is one key factor that many people miss. Good to know you're not one of them. You're that much ahead. I find the higher the strength braid, the more management issues there are. Also, braids vary widely from brand to brand. What brand/type of braid are you using? Have you tried using 50lb braid? I used to use PowerPro, and it's a good line, but now I prefer using 50lb Seaguar Smackdown or Flippin braid. Just seems to be more limber with a thinner diameter, so it works more like nylon. Also, tighten down on your magnetics a bit (not spool tension). That will help reduce the "loose line" issue, without affecting your pitching.

Turn off your ad blocker. Then it will work.
  17. If y'all want to hold those smaller fish as if they're trophy-sized, knock yourself out. Just don't knock somebody else down if they don't. That's all I'm saying.
  18. This is the very misconception that is needlessly getting folks all worked up. The body weight of a smaller bass simply isn't enough to cause any harm. So there's no "mishandling" to get all worked up about.
  19. The biggest misconception about this, is that people believe that ALL sizes of bass will suffer damage if held even slightly horizontal by the lip....and that the damage is automatic. Meaning you'll kill a fish every time it's held even slightly horizontal. That's like saying you'll contract cancer after your first cigarette. Truth is, only fish over 5lbs are AT RISK of damage. The larger the fish, and the more often it's held horizontal by the lip, the more likelihood the damage. But it's not automatic. Seems some folks are taking this to the extreme, and think it applies to all fish, and they're all getting killed. I'm glad people want to handle fish properly. Being properly educated is critical.
