Where is Avid?
I appreciate your candor, Muddy. Just understand I was not calling anyone out, implying anything at all about Avid, or dredging up past events. I simply wanted to provide an explanation as to why I removed the feature, rather than leave it up to interpretation. I, too, have learned from my past mistakes. :

Where is Avid?
I think I need to clarify my "other reasons", so here they are: In the past, people have deleted their profiles in order to "make a statement" and disrupt the forums. From an admin and moderator perspective, that's a big headache, as now we are forced to explain/defend our actions because inevidently, it boils down to "Why did/didn't you guys do anything to prevent this?" This leads to the second reason: it reduces the moral of the membership as people "take sides" and bicker amongst themselves regarding the merits of the ex-member's actions. Sometimes additional members quit and delete themselves to show support for the ex-member, or simply because they, too, want their share of the spotlight. All the while, the ex-member is smiling... happy that he was able to screw BassResource.com as his final act. The reality is, in the big picture, the effect is temporary and has little impact on the growth of the site. In addition, whatever was the origin of the original problem has been lost and not addressed due to all the drama that followed. But the short-term problems cause havoc. To me, it's a bunch of adults acting like spoiled children. If anyone ever has a problem with this site, with other members, or just has a concern, the mods and I have always had an open door policy. We'd much rather listen to, and respond to concerns and issues rather than learn about them when somebody pulls such a prank. For these reasons, and these reasons alone, I have permanently removed the "delete user" button from the profiles. Hope that makes sense. Glenn

Wow
It's no surprise at all. The NFC West is highly underrated. It's a munch more competitive division than the cross-conference numbers indicate. As long as the east coast divisions don't give it any respect, they'll continue to be "surprised". I think the myth is propagated by TV commentators continually calling it "the weakest division" (who ever pays attention to commentators anyway?). Surprised? Only to those who aren't paying attention. :

Titans vs Ravens
What's with all the penalties? I thought these teams were supposed to be good? Either way, whomever wins, they're going to be so beat up there won't be many players left to play the next game. Sheesh, they're dropping like flies!

Historic Flooding In Washington
I guess as far as averages go, that's about right. We tend to go in 10 year cycles where we'll have a few years of above-average temps followed by below average years. The last several years have been above average. But the last 6 weeks have well below average (below freezing for the most part). I was thinking, "Uh-oh, here we go" when the last 2 weeks of average temps appeared. And next week, they expect highs in the low 50's, which is above average. So who knows?!! Typically we don't have pronounced turnovers in the fall, if at all. Most lakes don't set up and stratify like they do in the south. Yes, the floods are receding. It's raining now, but not enough to cause more flooding. Just enough to slow down the receding waters. Now it's damage repair. A lot of people lost their homes, tens of thousands more have serious repairs, and there's a LOT of damaged roads! The main highway here in Maple Valley is still closed due to flooding. It may open tomorrow night, but not sure. Depends on how much damage is revealed after the waters recede.

Historic Flooding In Washington
RW - parts of the Columbia hit nearly 230,000 CFS on Thursday. It's back under 200k, but holy cow! firefightn15 - Your link doesn't work for me. But it sounds like it a water temp chart. If so, then it's REALLY dependant upon the body of water. The rivers are fairly temperate, as they're fed by snow melt. For example, even when it's 100+ degrees out, the warmest the Columbia gets is the low 70's. But keep in mind, we only have 2-3 months of warm weather (over 70), so the lakes and rivers never get a chance to get much above 75, if at all. Most peak at around 72.

Cabelas
I'd say Cabela's is better for clothing and camping gear than BPS. But BPS dominates fishing gear. But that's just me. I think it's more a matter of personal preference and style. If BPS offers 50 rods you don't like, and Cabela's carries only 10 rods, but one of those 10 is the one you want, then it doesn't matter how big a selection either has. Bottom line: shop both. Collectively, you'll find what you want - unless you like really high-end gear or specialty tackle.

Historic Flooding In Washington
Generally we have cold rainy days for 10 months, with 2 months of "summer" (days over 70 degrees). But in the past 12 months, we've seen temp swings from 100 to the single digits.

Anyone own a Ranger 518?
Cart, Your experience must be the exception, and not the norm. Ranger boats are built for rough water. I've been a A LOT of different boats, and Rangers have provided the driest and most comfortable ride in my book. True, the Genmar line of boats are all pretty seaworthy, so it's hard to go wrong with any of them. But Ranger boats are the best for rough water, unless you go with v-hull boats. I'm thinking you might have been in a Ranger who's driver who wasn't as skilled at rough water handling than others. It's a whole different ball game when you get into rough water, and ONE wrong move can get you soaked - in ANY boat!

For those who loooove the Sham-Wow guy
I've seen this commercial quite a bit. The "script" and headset... all perfect replicas of the guys who hawk this product at the state fair every year.

Historic Flooding In Washington
Pretty much every river and stream is above flood stage, with all of them breaking records - and not by just a bit, but a lot. They've been keeping records since the late 1800's. Some of these records have held strong since 1933 or before. Today, the old CFS records were more than doubled on many rivers and streams. Go here: http://water.usgs.gov/waterwatch/?m=real&r=wa&w=map Every blue dot is a flooding river, ever black dot is a major flood. Click the dots, then select the hydrograph, then click the graph. You'll see some pretty wild data. Here's one, for example: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?site_no=14243000 The old record was 44,200 CFS. Today it was over 100,000 CFS. Here's another: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?site_no=12119000 Old record (1983): 2900 CFS; as I write this, it's at 11,100 CFS, and that's DOWN from it's peak! Crazy!

Historic Flooding In Washington
Got power. Lights flickered a few times, but otherwise we're good. I'm thankful we didn't get strong winds, otherwise trees would have been downed everwhere. The ground is so saturated from several feet of snow followed by 6-12" of rain, a small puff of wind is all it would take to knock down trees. Getting in and out of my town is a pain, since several main arterials are closed due to flooding. There's a tremendous amount of flooding here. The term "record flooding" doesn't even come close to describing it. Nearly 100 roads have been closed. They've called out the national guard to help. Several hotels have reduced their rates substantially to give flood victims a place to stay. I feel really bad for folks that have lost everything. The good news is that the rain has stopped and most rivers have crested, or will within a few hours. They expect most rivers to be back to normal levels by Sunday night.

Geez, Bruce Springsteen?
I liked Sprinstein back in the day. Would I want to see him now? No. Carrie Underwood doesn't do it for me, sorry. Her songs use the same 4 notes over and over. To me, she sounds almost like she's yelling. It's as if she's trying to keep her voice from cracking. I mean, I don't hate her. Don't get me wrong. But she's just not creative and energetic enough for me. And she certainly isn't a legend like Bruce. Personally, I'd like to see Kid Rock at the Superbowl. He's latest music is great. Doubtful we'll ever see it though.

Historic Flooding In Washington
Pretty much all the major roadways in/out of my area are closed due to flooding. Traffic is a mess. And really the only way to get in and out of the region is by air, since all the freeways. biways, and railways are closed due to flooding or snow/avalanches.

Historic Flooding In Washington
We had record snowfall the past few weeks, but it all melted within the last few days. Now we're getting heavy, heavy rain and wind. RW is right, no worries about flooding at my place. But getting out and about is a little dicey. Lot's of standing water over the roadways. Thanks for asking.
