A new moderator?
Some of you may have noticed that Russ, a.k.a. Low Budget Hookers, is now a moderator. That's not a mistake folks! The growth of this site is exploding. More than 40 people joined the forums in last 5 days alone. As a result, the volume of posts is getting to the point where I needed a hand. Russ has demonstrated his passion for this site by taking forum members out fishing, helping on side projects for the site, and even taking the initiative to help out a forum family in need by orchestrating a fund-raising drive on this site. In addition, he's also running a C.A.S.T. for Kids event next year in grand fashion. When I asked Russ if he would be willing to lend a hand running the forums, he enthusiastically said, "Yes!" Please help me welcome and congratulate Low Budget Hookers on his new role! ;D

Thank You!
Guys, I'm stunned. I got an e-mail from LBH today. This is what it read: Here's the pic: http://www.bassresource.com/Bass/Fishing/glenn05.jpg I'm blown away! I'm really speechless. This is just way too cool. I'm moved by your thoughtfulness and kindness. You guys have been there from the start, welcoming new members into the family as they come. You are reason these forums are growing. And we're just getting started! We're growing more and more every day as more and more fantastic people just like yourselves come aboard and join the party. Thank you all for this gift. And thank you especially, Russ, for driving this and putting it together. You guys are the best!! Glenn

releasing gut hooked fish
Great post ghoti. I used to cut the line, leaving about 18", but I recently began using this technique - and it works!! Not 100% of the time, but more often than not, you can get the hook out without hurting the fish. More info: http://bassresource.com/cgi-bin/bass_fish/YaBB.pl?board=gen_bass;action=display;num=1128002349;start=22#22 Side note: In a tournament last summer, I caught a dink on a Senko. He was gut hooked. The little guy was so small, it was very difficult to perform this task, so I just cut the line off as mentioned above. Fast forward to the next day, same spot. This time I was fishing a Pop-R. Bang! A little fish impales himself on it. I get him in the boat, and as I unhook him - there's my hook from the day before! This time he's dislodged it enough that I was able to use the "new" technique (thank God there was still enough line attached to it), and the hook easily came out.

hey glenn
All I can say is, "Please read the FAQs." Don't take this wrong, but the answer to this and several other common questions have been there for months and months. Not trying to a jerk here, but there's a reason why they're called "Frequently Asked Questions".

any jet owners?
I think he meant a jet engine vs. prop.

Floating Senko-Style Bait?
This is kind of humorous from my perspective. I totally understand what Dustin is saying, and understand Avid as well ("wearing the box" that was a joke, by the way...probably towards corporate-speak and cliches. Did you notice the smiling face?) It's weird that I get both sides, but they're not understanding each other. Who's on first anyway? I think Avid's point is that it's difficult to get the Senko to work as a topwater. You can, but it's hard work. He's just recommending other lures that float better. However, Dustin is looking for a bait that looks like a Senko, but floats. I can see multiple uses for a floating Senko-type lure (not a true Senko, per say, but a floating version, which I think is what Dustin is looking for). Carolina-rigged comes to my mind. :

How do I remove a hook a bass has swallowed?
1) With the hook in the gullet, note which side of the fish's mouth the hook shank is toward. Note: For illustration sake, the line is eliminated here in steps 2 through 5. In reality, the line stays connected as this technique is performed. (2) With a finger or two, reach in through the last gill arch on that side of the fish and push and pull down on the hookeye so the hook turns and . . . (3) rolls out below the gill toward the side of the fish. At that point, amazingly, the hook, barb and all, almost always pops free from its hold in the fish's gullet. (4) Reach into the fish's mouth and grip the bend in the hook (which is now up) and . . . (5) lift it free. If the fish's mouth is too small to reach in with your hand, use a needle-nose pliers to grip the hook bend. What needs to be emphasized is how resilient a fish's gills actually are -- far from being the fragile organs often suggest by some sources. And the occasional bleeding fish? Does it have to be kept? Just get the fish back into the water as soon as possible and, more often than not, the bleeding stops. The technique also works superbly on walleyes, smallmouths, and other fish, usually taken on smaller hooks, often salmon-style hooks.

What do you pull your boats with?
Huh? ???

Can you use a fuel added carb cleaner?
RingFree and SeaFoam are both made especially for outboards. I always add RingFree to my tank with every fillup.

Hotfoot ???
I have it on my Ranger. Love it for all the reasons listed above. The only caveat is when you're loading the boat back on the trailer on a steep ramp.... you know, the kind you need to "throttle up" in order to pin the boat to the front bumper while you run up front to hook it up. Kinda hard to do that with a hotfoot. :

Cold?
It'd sure be nice to accomodate everyone's styles and preferences. Unfortunately, that's a very heavy investment for me! That said, I will take your suggestions and ideas to heart, and see what I can do - as I always have with this site. Thank you for the feedback. The clothing is either embroidered or silk screened (no cheesy iron-on decals here!). The quality is top-notch. I have very high standards, so I tested them all for a year for durability. The embriodery didn't fall apart, and the colors didn't fade - even after multiple washings and extended exposure to hot sunlight. The t-shirts, towels, sweatshirts, hats, and especially the tournament shirts are not cheap souvenirs. I hate that stuff! It's very hard to explain how warm the sweatshirts are. They're not super heavy, but they certainly aren't fly weights either! And they won't pill after multiple washings. Try them for yourself. I have a 30-day, money back guarantee if you don't like them. I've always believed that the measure of a company is the way they treat their customers. So with every order, I make this promise to you - the best quality, the best value, the best service. Guaranteed. Glenn
