  1. fyi - there IS a line of clothing available to today at http://www.bassresource.com/mm5/merchant.mvc LBH is looking to expand it.
  2. Really the first thing you need to do is turn off the "auto" feature, and then turn off the fish symbols. Then.... NEVER GO BACK!! Force yourself to use it. It's a pain in the rear to begin with, but trust me, over time, you'll love it. Ideally, find a buddy who knows how to read sonar (your local rep is ideal) and take him out on the water in YOUR boat using YOUR sonar.... don't do any fishing. Spend a couple of hours as an on-the-water class. Short of that, read articles, and buy videos on the subject. Here's a few to get you started: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/fishfinders.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/depthfinders.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/depthfinder_fishfinder.html Enjoy!
  3. Take a look at these threads - they cover this topic nicely: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1133831558 http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1139864081 Thanks!
  4. Place your mouse over "Tacklebox" at the top of this screen, then click "Free fishing log" right under it. Enjoy!
  5. I have a lot of articles on this posted on the site. Start here, http://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/caring_for_bass.html and then follow the links at the bottom of the page.
  6. I think you mean John Hope.
  7. Hey Dan, That's a great fish! That table looks strikenly similar to the table we have here: http://bassresource.com/fish_biology/growing_larger_bass.html When you get a moment, take a look around this site. I think you'll find you'll need to do a lot less searching on the Internet.
  8. Good place to post this, so no problems here. Check out the last several articles in the Winter fishing archive here: http://bassresource.com/fishing/seasonal.html#winter I think that should give you a few ideas.
  9. Here's the original log that everyone copies these days: http://bassresource.com/fish/fishinglog3.gif This is actually a log my buddy and I created back in '89. I just created this version years ago to share with y'all. Funny how similar versions popped up all over the Web shortly after I posted it. :
  10. Well folks, it appears the IQ-Challenged people in this world fell for this joke hook, line, and sinker. No kidding, these people just didn't understand this was a joke, and took it literally. At first, Yamamoto HQ enjoyed the extra attention from the phone calls and e-mails from these people, but soon opportunistic vultures took advantage of the situation and turned a trickle into a flood, and it became a problem. Therefore, we had to place this statement in it's place: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/Bagwell/bagwells_bass_tactics_22.html I apologize for my part in the prank. The joke/disclaimer was clear enough in the article to avoid in confusion. Unfortunately, I didn't take into account that some people would post incomplete outtakes of the article on other forums, causing undue panic and confusion. (Doing so violates copyright laws, but that another discussion) Sorry folks, but the few jerks in this world spoiled the fun. Glenn

  13. When I first met Art a few years ago, he treated me like I was royalty, and he in awe. I knew he was an accomplished angler, but had NO idea his credencials were that deep! What a humble guy! One of the nicest people I've ever had the priviledge of meeting. Here's that letter: http://www.bassresource.com/Bass/Fishing/ArtHOF.pdf

  16. Sorry, wrong again. SOME bass in Cali are Florida strain, yes that's true, but that's about it. I wouldn't catagorize all of "the west" as having Florida strain bass. In fact, with that exception noted, they're all northern strain (I'm talking purely largemouth species here, so let's not get technical with the variations such as spotted bass). That club, BTW, isn't located in Cali. Hope that eases the pain a little. I'm really not trying to argue here. But it seems there's a few misconceptions that need clearing up.
  17. I'm not taking sides, and I hate to burst your bubble, but the 1st and oldest bass club in existence is located out West (started in 1938). They began tournament bass fishing too. True, it took Ray Scott to turn it into a national sport, but rest assured, not "everything starts in Dixie" my friend.
  18. It occurs only if your e-mail client is set to read text messages instead of HTML. The correct link is http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/Bagwell/bagwells_bass_tactics_22.html I'm working on fixing the bug. In the mean time, you may want to change your e-mail client so that it reads HTML e-mails. Thanks!
  19. It's a bug in the text-only e-mails. The correct link is http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/Bagwell/bagwells_bass_tactics_22.html I'm working on fixing the bug. In the mean time, you may want to change your e-mail client so that it reads HTML e-mails. Thanks!
  20. I think LBH hit it on the head. It has absolutely nothing to do with where you're from. It has everything to do with how hard you're willing to work at it.
  21. Fact: Texas has more bass anglers than any other state (over 1 million).
  22. Look at the menu at the top of the page. Hold your mouse over "Tacklebox" and a menu will appear underneath it. You'll find the calculator there.
  23. Nice!!! Very nice! I used to have a boat just like that, and it was great to have - such freedom! One bit of advice - it looks like the storage lockers aren't waterproof (common on aluminum boats). So switch out your Plano boxes for the waterproof type (the kind with the seals) and replace your tackle bag with a waterproof bag. I made the mistake of leaving my bag in my boat after enduring a heavy rainstorm. The next weekend I opened my storage box to find a big ......... furball !! OH what a mess that was to clean up, and it ruined my bag. A number of hooks also rusted because my plano boxes weren't waterproof. Just a tip.
