How deep is the scratch? Down to the fiberglass?

Try pumping the bulb first. If the bulb doesn't pump up to where it's firm (i.e. you keep pumping but nothing seems to happen), replace the bulb. If it starts every time after pumping the bulb, then it's beginning to wear out, so you probably should replace it in the near future.

You did much better than me on my first cast. I simply SMACKED the pavement right in front of me on my first attempt. I made my second cast about an hour later after I respooled (the backlash was enormous). That cast went straight up.... .... ......... ....and back down again -- right in front of me. Now I can cast a little better.

What they're proposing is indeed illegal. Not only is it a criminal offense, but in many states, you can sue them for damages as well. I'm sure the FLW will put a stop to it pronto if it occurs. Funny.... I get hate mail from PETA members often. These folks absolutely believe they're doing nothing illegal. Guess it'll be a surprise to them when they're handcuffed, sitting in the back of a patrol car! ;D

Good, because I'm really close to locking this down. This thread is turning sour, and that's not what these forums are about. Either everyone plays nice, or I lock/delete threads.... and if it gets really bad, I start booting people. We haven't reached that point quite yet, but this thread is right on the threshold. So, if you have something brand new to add to this thread, let's hear it. Otherwise, all opinions and statements have already been made and heard.
