You know what would be real COOOOLL
What an interesting idea. Tournament or not, a get-together of sorts would be fun. I'm flattered you think I can run an event like this. A web site is one thing, running a large-scale tournament is entirely different. That said, I'm not against it, and I do have experience organizing events. However, I would need somebody with deep experience running large-scale tournaments to pull something like this off. I'm willing to play an integral role, of course. Any volunteers? I presume something like this simply doesn't happen over night, so we're probably looking at 2006 to get everything squared away. However, a more casual get-together may be more feasible in the near future. Who knows? After a couple of annual events, it could end up being the "Sturgis" of bass fishing! ;D

how do you know when bass are spawning?
Okay....it goes like this... First..A "Boy" bass meets a "Girl" bass at say...a Spring Bass Dance where the two dance and snuggle and after a long discussion with Her Parents and with their permission they are allowed to see each other again......but that would take far to long to discuss in real time as this message board would be just that...board! so.......To speed things up.....they fall in love....he asks her to go to the spawning grounds...she says yes but only if her mother can come along....he says...GRRRRR....they start off...the mother-in-law bass gets caught by RoadWarrior and taken home for a fish fry and they live happily everafter...oh...they spawned in the spring when the water temp was like 60+ degrees and YADA YADA YADA....

Thank You Glenn
Thanks guys, you're too kind. I'm glad you like the site - it's been a labor of love, to say the least. But the forums - it's all you. You folks are what makes these forums so great. All I do is keep them organized and keep out the riff raff. I can't tell you how pleased I am to see so many people helping each other out, passing along tips and information - I'm simply amazed. You're what makes this all worthwhile for me -- I've learned some new tricks from you too!

They Just DONT UNDERSTAND! Who's with me?
FishBewareOfBrad. I used to be in your shoes too. I found a great gal, who was understanding of my "obsession". Eventually, she became resentful of the time I spent away from her, and tried to get me to cut back. I tried taking her out on the water a few times, but she was only mildy interested. Eventually, we broke up. That was 15 years ago. Ever since then, when a relationship began to get serious, I rattled off the same speech: "I fish.... A LOT. No, I mean it, A LOT. Like every weekend a lot. It's what I do. It's who I am. It's not that I don't want to spend time with you, or that it's a reflection upon you. It's just something I need to do. You're not obligated to like it, or try it. If you do try it and like it, great. If not, that's ok too. In fact, you can even hate it. But... You can never tell me to cut back or stop doing it. That won't work for me, and I won't do it." For the most part, that cleared the air and took care of the problem. Then I was blessed with a woman who not only tried it, she become addicted like me. When she urged me to buy a brand new Ranger with all the bells and whistles, I knew I had to marry her. Now we fish together every weekend. ;D It's all about determining what's important to you, and not compromising until you find your match.

Suggestion for bassresource.com
That's quite a compliment! Wow, I'm humbled. I have tried as much as possible to include articles for the northern climates, and do have quite a bit on the site. However, the southern-slanted articles indeed outnumber the northern (with many thanks to a great partnership with HoneyHole Magazine). That said, I can only post what I receive. :-/ I'd welcome article submissions regarding northern climates (such as those already submitted by Craig DeFronzo, J.T. Bagwell, "Big Bass Rich", "The Bass Coach", Jeff Boyer, Larry Gonzcy, and Ed Telders, to name just a few), so feel free to submit them. All I ask it that you follow these guidelines. Thanks! Glenn

Look to buy boat, is this one ok?
I have a buddy of mine who actually has one of these. I wouldn't call it a "fish-n-ski", but I suppose you could use it as one. The trolling motor is very unique (motorized head - makes it store in the compartment in a certain position). Suffice to say, he's had problems with the trolling motor and can only get parts directly from the manufacturer. He also had to replace the onboard charger twice. Also, I'd second that comment about Force engines - as a general rule, they just aren't that reliable compared to other engines. That said, he's not one to maintain his equipment very well, but it seems to hold up to his abuse. It's a very wide, stable boat, so you'd better have a place big enough to store it (i.e. it won't fit in standard garages).

Best Bass Boats
Like cars, the bass boat you own is ultimately comes down to personal preference. Some guys love Ford, other hate them and love Dodges. Still others prefer Chevy's. Then there's the mini-vans, eco-cars, luxury cars, sports cars.... nearly everyone swears by their car and loves them. But, not all of them are the best choice for you. Same goes for boats. Here's some articles to help you decide what's important to you: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/buying_a_boat.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/a_new_boat.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/buying_first_boat.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/bass_boat_features.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/boat_buying_license.html After reading these articles, visit dealers, talk to owners of boats (you could join a club, but heck, just hang out at the ramp and talk to guys as they come off the water), and then test drive. Good luck!

Boat question.....
I know a lot of Gamblers have hydrolic jack plates. Does yours? If so, try playing with the engine height after the hole shot. It takes some experimenting with the trim and engine height to find the "sweet spot".
