  1. I for one never recovered a body wearing a pfd, I don't know if Ajay did. The argument for not wearing one at trolling speeds honestly makes no sense, statistically you're at greater risk. You're typically standing; a little off balance with one foot on the motor control. How many times have you tripped because the trolling motor was pointing in the opposite direction or the motor is on high? If your beating the banks water is typically shallow, when u go over the side accidently 90% of the time you're going head first. No pfd and you're going to hit the bottom head first. Better hope its not soft and mucky; talk about a bad day, being fully conscious up to your shoulders in muck and stuck head first! Or worse hard bottom and break your neck. I'm not saying I believe that there should be laws mandating pfd's, I DON'T. BTW the vest type is one of the worse pfd's to choose, because if you're knocked unconscious it will not re-right u to keep your head above water; the auto inflates appear to me that they will. So choose the right pfd and use it, or don't and be a canidate for the Darwin Awards.
  2. Ok sounds like meet at ramp between 6 & 630, go fishing meet back up at 1:00 compare notes, bs, eat lunch and afternoon up to each person. For lunch I can pick up one if those 6 foot subs, or maybe bring a portable grill and do burgers. Which one do y'all prefer?
  3. With you checking in I think that's everyone who had said they'll attend, no more changes.. We'll plan on the 18th, the 220 landing on Soap Creek. What time?
  4. Montana, its a sleeper state for big whitetail. Most non-residents go for the mule deer, but the bottom lands near agricultural areas are teeming with whitetails, big ones. Remember when doing research that they only count one side of the antlers, a 4 point is typically an 8.
  5. The monkey took a chunk out of me over the past week, bought four, yes four reels! I justified it by telling myself that i had to take advantage of a couple deeply reduced reels, and two from the flea market, I'm just helping ppl out. I'm sitting here planning rod purchases, I need help, almost bought another reel today.
  6. So it basically acts as a remote screen if I want. Only able to read the standard 2d transducer input, but able to display SI when networked. That's pretty neat, I'm starting to get into these gadgets.
  7. If I network these units, will the 859 be able to display SI images?
  8. If I were still in WV fishing the New and Greenbrier rivers, I would have a river-pro, for the big lakes here in SC I have my ideal boat, got lucky.
  9. Got a request to do this on the 18th, does that work for you all? Also Brown Bear does the 220 ramp have a dock?
  10. I have my first performance bass boat, motor is a 225. To my way of thinking that's a large motor. My question is, what position do you store the motor? Do you leave it supported by the motor toter? Or do you lower it? Seems like allot of weight to have hanging off the transom. When the boat is in the water, the transom is supported by the water evenly, not so when trailered.
  11. WHY??? IMO there ain't nothing more nerve wracking and aggrevating, except those who jabber non stop about handicaps, being a scratch golfer, etc. Almost as nerve wracking as ppl who talk non stop about fishing......oh wait a second
  12. Let's see ran a business for years successfully, retired and fish everyday. Hmmmm sounds like you're definitely on to something good. Had a bad day we all do.
  13. Most ppl are way over powered in regards to what they need to tow a bass boat. Mine is over 20 feet with a 225, I tow it with a 1500 Silverado because I already had the truck. I wouldn't think twice about towing it with a properly equipped Ford Ranger, or Chevy S10, or a rwd Caddy. It only weighs 3000lbs. The tow capacity of my truck is something like 12000, so it's overkill. I remember growing up and seeing allot of ppl towing campers and boats behind the family station wagon.
  14. I can't believe it, how did they steal it? Was it at a campsite, Marina, what? I hope it is recovered soon. Is there anyway to put a gps tracker on a boat? Everytime I go out, I wonder if my trailer will still be connected to my truck when I get back!
  15. I would like to know how to catch hybrids.and stripers consistently. They put up a good fight, I just luck into them; typically catch them by accident. I need to check the regs, sometimes there are different rules for each species. BTW SC, is doing a study on the striper in Clarks Hill, look for a tag on them, remove it send it back to the dnr with measurements and they send u a monetary reward. Some have an internal tracking device, so if ya keep one that has it they pay more, guess they can be reused. Not a good enough reason for me to keep one but thought someone would like the info.
  16. If you're wanting a true modified v, the only option is the Tracker series and I would go with the 190TX. I can already envision the knee jerk reactions from Ranger and G3 owners, sorry fellas your boats are a modified Jon boat flat hull, not a true modified v. I just bought a boat and was leaning toward aluminum and looked at them all. I wanted a modified v for the ride, every sales person and piece of literature claim modified v hulls on the ranger and g3. I crawled under them, not one had a true modified v that was carried all the way to the stern only Tracker. Additionally the Ranger and G3 didn't have a true v at the bow. The Tracker also has reversed chines, not advertised but they're there. So if you're wanting a modified v there is only one choice, however a deep v is another story plenty of options, but for the water you described they're more boat than u need. As for what I got, a 2007 Nitro 911CDC
  17. I'm not being a smart arse but, that's a hybrid, stripers lines are straight and not broken, it is hard to distinguish between them sometimes. Hybrids can get up around 20lbs, but typically top out between 10-15lbs, that's a nice fish.
  18. GA 43 is the one I used yesterday, its a single lane concrete probably enough parking for twenty. I'll check the other places out unless someone has used then before and can recommend one.
  19. Welcome to the forums!!!!
  20. Went up this afternoon April 10th, launched at the 378 bridge on Soap Creek, went up in the creek past the bridge. The hybrids were schooling in there this evening, the action was fast, and ended up with a couple decent hybrids. Never caught them before, definitely fun, caught them on a white fluke the super size 5" inch I think; the magnum 7" was too big. I would cast in when they were busting the surface and let it sink. If I started twitching the bait at the surface I didn't catch any got a few hits that I think were the bass just swiping the bait to stun it, I would let it sink, never took more than ten seconds and bam!
  21. Sounds good to me, launch there at the 378 bridge on Soap Creek?
  22. Awesome glad that Buzzbait is working for you.
  23. I drive a White Chevy 1500 4x4 will be towing a Nitro 911 CDC, thinking about heading out right now, will take about an hour to get there.
