  1. One of the bleeding hearts, lol. I coached girls softball and basketball in this age of no scores, the kids didn't play hard at all, no winner so they didn't care and it wasn't fun. I started keeping unofficial scores, their performance went way up, they were smiling and having a good time. Suddenly they cared, they paid attention during practice, it was great. My girls picked up the fundamentals, later when they were old enough to play on the school's team, the ones I had coached started; Why? Because I let them compete early. They were far above their peers because the had the fundamentals mastered. The only ppl who feel good about them not competing were the parents. When no score was kept the kids were not having any fun.
  2. At your age it is so hard to figure out what you want to do for the rest of your life, I would encourage you to consider finding a branch of the military that appeals to you and join, Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy or Coast Guard. It's only four years and during that time you can learn a trade (welding, electrician, carpentry, etc), be trained in the medical science field, or you can be trained in technology fields (computer programming, IT, etc); more importantly you will be getting real life experience, it's amazing how much you learn about yourself and others during an enlistment. There is also the added benefit of the GI Bill, that way when you figure out what you want to do there is money there for your training.
  3. If it is ok with Bobby I'll add my father in law's Corvette story.
  4. Guess I should also mention, mine is an OLD OMC, the lower unit has a set screw, and appears to thread onto the shaft.
  5. Skittles = hydrocodone???
  6. I just found out that I can order just the motor and leave the rest of the trolling motor unit alone. In other words, same pedal, same steering, same shaft. Just remove the actual electric motor and prop and replace with a higher thrust motor. In other words take my 12V 28lb thrust motor and make it a 45lb thrust by just removing the old electric motor and replacing it with a new one. Has anyone ever attempted this? I can get the new motor for 120 bucks shipped, where as a whole new unit will cost between 4 to 5 hundred. So there is definite economic benefit going this route, just don't know how hard it would be to do. Thoughts? so in other words just replace this:
  7. FWIW you aren't supposed to put the Orajel right on the affected area, rather where the gum meets the cheek directly above or below depending on whether its the upper or lower gum that's hurting, or at the joint off the upper and lower jaw if its a back molar. The reason is because that's where the nerve is. Think about where the dentist puts the novacaine the don't inject at the tooth rather where the gum meets the jaw above or below the affected area. I had a dentist tell me that when I was complaining about a tooth that needed a root canal, when I finally put the gel where it wwas supposed to go it helped.
  8. Tracker did make a jet boat, but the hull wasn't tough enough. I would like to have one of the River-pros for the New and Greenbrier rivers. They make hulls that are up to the abuse that those rivers would dish out.
  9. Here ya go Traveler a jetboat built for fishermen, I want one of these http://www.riverpro-boats.com/
  10. Umm, are you two still fishing together? Did Dwight release your "trophy" before you could get a pic?
  11. X2 on the angles, its key to success many days.
  12. Flouro has a crystalline structure any kink should be treated as a cut line. You cannot rush knot tying, the mighty Palomar when sinched will kink the line and subsequently will break off during hook set. I cannot pull on the standing (working) part of flouro line without flattening it, although the line is together it is broken under the surface, and breaks during hook set. Try sinching the knot by pulling on the tag side only, worked for me. Oh, and never tie any knot in flouro without lubricating, guaranteed break. Shaw Grigsby uses a modified Palomar, you can find it on YouTube
  13. Use a snap lock, tie the Palomar
  14. So the transom mount can be put on the trolling motor, but not the other way around? And also my apologies to the OP.
  15. Get the transom mount hardware, new fish finders may be different, but the only difference in a trolling motor transducer and a transom transducer is the mounting hardware. You can buy the hardware to mount the transducer in either spot.
  16. Happy birthday, may this year be full of happiness and lots of fishing.
  17. I remember that part too, now. If enough members with bad memories chime in we may get the whole story, lol.
  18. Anti-reverse is what keeps your handle and spool from rotating backwards and letting out line during hookset and playing the fish.
  19. Delayed/Softer hook set, to keep the angler from pulling the bait out of the fish's mouth. That's the idea anyway, its important with multi-stop anti-reverse that you let the rod load up, the fish hooks itself. If not you may be inadvertently pulling the lure out. By this I mean the rod is gaining momentum before the reel catches and instead of a smooth hook set, the bait gets a sudden pull as the reel catches and you're swinging the rod back.
  20. The dual pawl anti reverse on the BB1 is to improve hook up, the reel designed by David Fritz for BPS had the same design. I really liked mine and wish I never sold it. I would suspect dull hooks, especially if the crankbait has been used for awhile. The BB1 is supposed to cast father than any other Lew's so going to a Tournament Pro may sacrifice casting distance.
  21. I'm in serious trouble, a store is opening up five minutes from the house. My wife is already worried
  22. Delaware valley tackle, Mike is a site sponsor.
  23. Do u have a schematic? I would recommend searching youtube for a how to video of your reel. Also the Abu Garcia site has schematics for most of their reels. All else fails contact a reel smith, they should be able to help. The Max line of reels are considered by many as disposable so finding someone that will fix it may present a challenge.
  24. FWIW I'm 220 lbs my uncle about the same we fish from a 10 bass hunter, I can stand and flip or whatever very stable boat. Additionally the seats are moveable, I can put it in the middle if I am alone and handle the boat via trolling motor easily. Good luck
