  1. Well Happy VD to all. Ever notice that the holiday of love's initials are the same as the thing we want to avoid while searching for love? Hmmm coincidence?????
  2. I've had four spine surgeries and I can attest that loosing the weight will help with any residual pain you may have. I know that when I got up around 240 my back hurt all the time, so I dropped back down to 220 been down to 195 a couple of times but can't stay there, anyway loosing the weight helped my pain and mobility. I can't exercise much, can't walk that far, but my at rest heart rate is still around 70 which isn't bad for a pack a day smoker, blood pressure is great, and cholestorol is low. There are more factors than the abitrary BMI chart. The BMI is a bunch of crap, unless you want to be on the verge of starvation, I think my BMI weight is around 175, I haven't weighed that much since high school, I would have to loose muscle mass to get that low. The scale is outdated and unrealistic, when I was in the service they wanted to put my supervisor on the "fat boy program" he was 75lbs overweight, what they didn't know was that he was a body builder (former Maryland champ) had a 52 inch chest and massive arms, he was about 5' 7" after his fat boy program review, the doc decided that his weight was fine, lol.
  3. If you want my sympathy look in the dictionary between sh_ _ and syphillis. Major Payne All that needs to happen for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing (I don't remember who said it Winston Churchill maybe)
  4. As an ex-federal agent, I can attest that there are so many handsigns and color variations related to gang symbols that it is difficult to design something that could not be gang related. There are literally thousands of gangs across the country and in the prison system, each has their own colors and hand symbols. It was a full time job just trying to keep up with all of it. As soon as we would get a new handbook on they symbols and colors, it was outdated. IMO just another knee jerk reaction that may or may not have a basis in truth. So the student is in a troubled youth program at school. Could be that he is honestly trying to make a change in his life, but those surrounding him can't see it and automatically assume the worse. From what I see there it isn't gang related just a bunch of crap.
  5. Awesome paint job, couldn't imagine having that much talent. I do good to be able to tie knots in my line
  6. "The Constitution guarantees the right to pursue happiness, it's up to you to find it" I think Ben Franklin
  7. Wow, I've not been active here for a while, I bought a couple of reels from Jack and had the opportunity to talk with him on the phone a few times. A real class act, just sorry I'm so late to offer my sympathies.
  8. Definitely in the 5%, and I will attest that using this forum helped me break into that club. Up until I started using this forum my largest LM was 2 1/2 pounder, and about 3 on the smallies. Within a year I broke the 5lb mark and within two I broke the 4lb mark on smallmouth and had caught my current personal best 8lb 14 ounces which is good for the area I was in. Now that I've moved to SC I hope to break the double digit boundary on LM this year. Once you figure out what you are doing wrong, get the right equipment catching LM in the 4-5 pound mark isn't difficult. I can't wait until I can catch multiple double digit bass every year. I credit this site for the plethera of knowlege I have assimilated, and my retirement to having the time to practice and fish. It's really a numbers game, spend the time on the water and your odds go up. BTW I lived in WV where the state record LM is a 12lber, anything over 8lbs and you could literally make the newspaper. After using the info here and being able to fish more I caught several fish over 6 lbs every year and a few over 8. Not bragging just saying the info to help all of us break into the 5% club is here on this site. Thanks BTW I own and use a scale
  9. tiptruck don't think you over paid, if you are happy, I like the idea of tats that have meaning. All of mine have meaning to me, one for my days in the Coast Guard, one for the family and my last is for starting discussions with the biker crowd I hang around with. I got my first tatoo in 1986 when I was 17, was the only person still in high school with a tat, now they are somewhat of a fad. I appreciate the art and the difficulty of doing a first rate tatoo. One artist described it as trying to draw on a rubber ball that keeps moving, lol. Definitely not for everyone.
  10. Not pushing in the clutch smart eleck responses to posts. The Occupy Wall Street gets on my nerves, but probably the biggest thing is supposed open minded people claiming any one who disagrees with them are bigots, close minded, homophobic, etc, etc.
  11. Find some art you like and have it covered
  12. birddog, just talked to my grouse hunting buddy up in your neck of the woods, he is reporting 25 productive points and moving upwards of 65 grouse a day. Should be a good year up that way.
  13. Double prop buzzbait (great on the edges of heavy cover or over barely submerged grass, gotta be quick starting retrieve), RageTail Shad, PopR, heavy cover frog.
  14. I've been in tackle shops with less selection, you sir are the master, and I'm a bit envious . I use the gallon size freezee bags organized by type, my tackle box is actually a saddle bag liner out of a Goldwing! I looked at a boat one time that the owner removed the step portion of the casting deck and replaced it with pull out plastic box storage similar to basher's shelf except the boxes were on sliders.
  15. Just finished the last sitting for my newest tat. Took four different sittings about 10 hours total, I love it the wife hates it, lol. I'm not inked head to toe and this will probably be my last, although I have two more drawn up, just running out of real estate that is easily covered. anyway here it is.
  16. The local walmart has started stocking the Vendettas, KVD and Skeet Rods, also shimano reels, I'm glad for the change. The closest BPS is a 2 1/2 hour drive one way, the local tackle shop doesn't carry anything decent either. So I'm hoping the selection in the baits will improve also.
  17. The river I grew up fishing the main fish forage for smallies was the common creek chub. The best spinner bait I found was the Pro Clacker spinnerbait, I use the 3/8 ounce. I've caught numerous smallies on 1/2 ounce jigs with a full size Paca Craw trailer, smallies can and do eat large forage, no need to downsize unless you just like throwing smaller baits. http://shop.assassin...rbait-CS-02.htm
  18. Thanks fellas, talking to a guy today in the tackle shop, he was complaining that he couldn't crappie fish because he kept hooking up with stripers. Wish I could have that problem lol
  19. This is a new scenario for me, I have cabin fever and want to hit the lakes. 3 of the local lakes have nuke power plants that discharge the cooling water back into the lake. The discharge water temp is very warm creating areas of warm water in the lake. I am assuming that these areas will attract bass and bait fish. Let me know your experience with this scenario, I've got it in my mind that these warm areas will be loaded with fish this time of year.
  20. Hybrid is not coated mono, the two lines are combined on a molecular level http://www.yo-zuri.com/ . Hybrid was unique in this the last time I checked other manufacturers do just coat mono.
  21. I have found that asking in the region specific forums isn't as good for getting responses than other areas. I have many times just generalized the question moved it to a different section and viola loads and loads of advice and suggestions. This board is by far the best place for information and comraderie on the net.
  22. BirdDog, That may be true, I know on the higher end Brownings, the guns are supplied with shims to facilitate the cast, drop, etc.
  23. When it comes to shotguns, the difference is more than where the shell ejects when it comes to lefty guns. All shotguns come from the factory with cast, heel, and drop. A gunstock isn't straight, they typically come with 1/4" cast, 2 1/2 drop, and some come with heel, a slight bend at the toe of the stock for fit. A left handed shooting a right handed gun will have to by design bend their head over the stock to get the proper eye placement. A shotgun should fit like an extension of your body, and stock measurements are crucial to this. Finding a lefty youth gun will be a challenge, but I encourage you to find one that will fit the shooter and that way the shooter won't develop bad habits from shooting a gun that doesn't fit.
  24. awesome bull congrats, that is a bull of a lifetime.
  25. very nice fish, congrats
