Can't believe it, but after thoughrough research I laid down my hard earned money on a Curado E5 for crankbaits. I purchased this one due to the massive line capacity of the Winch, I've had problems with Abu's and lighter weight baits. The smallest crank I throw is 5/16 ounce, and can throw it on most of my reels, but the Abu's won't do it efficiently. The Garcia would throw it but not far and it took a lot of practice to become proficient. If this Curado doesn't do the job, I'm calling Kent, Burley and the rest of the possee. lol.

This year is the year of the crankbait for me. I am getting more confident with these with every outing. Last year was supposed to be the year of the crank but health kept me off the water most of the year. Right now I'm having a ball experimenting. Yesterday I hooked the largest bass of my life, unfortunately she wrapped around a limb and while playing the fish, the crankbait acutally failed. The rear hook was pulled out and the duo lock was straightened!!! I am loving cranking the standing timber, and can't wait for the water to get above forty degrees and the fish to really turn on. Any advice for a crankbait newbie would be appreciated. Thanks.

My set up is a 7foot BPS crankin stick, one MH and one M. The MH has a reel with 20 IPT reel and the M is set with a reel that has 28 IPT, soon to be switched out for one with 26 IPT, has more to do with combo's I"m setting up for the river than not liking the IPT. Lipless are more effective on faster reels, I have one shallow diver whose action goes to pieces on anything faster than 20 IPT or so, so it depends on the crank more than generalities. Good luck.

Trust me I know where this comes from. God allows things to happen sometimes to make us a better person. This world is under the curse of sin and sometimes things just happen. So this in no way shakes my faith, rather strengthens it.

I may be disabled and can hardly get around, but I will still take care of business if you are a threat to my family. He is 22 and time he becomes a man if that will ever happen. I was in the Coast Guard and then a prison guard and I am fully aware of what an addict is capable of. He is out and will be until he is clean for a year, and apologizes. Well, lets see my son stole my pain pills (50) of them, and my wife's credit card. I of course showed him the door, now I'm ostercised from the family. My wife almost left me, then my 5 year old's golden retriever was poisoned, ended up dying today. I go to bury the poor beast and my truck sinks up to it's axles! So there I am with a dead dog in the back, and stuck in the mud. I dig the grave and hit shale, so I end up mixing cement so the coyotes won't dig it up. Try to use a come-along to pull the truck out, end up pulling up the fence posts. End up jacking up the truck and putting gravel under all the wheels. All of this 5 weeks post op from a neck fusion. Now I'm hurting like mad, have a dead dog, my little boy is a wreck and misses his dog, my wife is still mad, my inlaws aren't speaking to me, and my step-son is an addict. I need a fishing trip.

I fish em like a giant worm. they work great in that scenario. I've also rigged them weightless over weeds and dropped them into the holes in the grass, work ok for that. Good luck

2 BPS Crankin Sticks, really like them, I've not had a fish come unbuttoned since I started using them. But then again I don't use crankbaits a lot, but they double as my topwater buzzbait rod and spinnerbait rods. Both are 7 footers one Medium and one MH.

4 inch curly tail grubs, paca craw texas rigged, jerk baits.

I'm jealous, still in the neck brace from the surgery at the first of the month, will be lucky to wet a line in mid march. congrats.

Personally I've never floated north of Renick, I have no idea about the river that far north. I have floated every stretch from Renick to Alderson, and can help you out in those areas. Like pitchinkid said you aren't far from some good fishin.

For river reels working cranks I like a high line take up, IPT. The reason is I always work with the current, I throw up stream and retrieve down, the river I fish has a pretty quick current, so I have to overcome that to impart the correct action to the bait. Working with the current always produces better fish imo, the fish typically face into the current, so to bring the bait to the fish in the most natural way I work with the current not against it. Basspro spinning reels have an increased diameter on the spool and bring in 28-31 IPT. Good luck

Welcome, one of my first baitcasters was a Pinnacle.

This was my second cervical fusion, this time I think it was only one level, c7-t1, not sure as I forgot to ask what exactly he did. This was my fourth spine surgery, and the smallest I believe, I know they removed some spurs and at least one disc. Good luck. I'm not a good one to ask about rehab and all that due to my conditions I don't do a lot of it.

I'll be in the brace for six to eight weeks. I will hopefully be on the water by April, just in time for the spawn.

Does anyone else notice that the hot sauce seems to get gummy in cold weather? Seems like I notice some difference in the reel when the weather gets cold.
