  1. If you added a little red on the gills of that King Shad it would be absolutely perfect. Even without it it looks amazing.
  2. Hi everyone, I recently found my grandfather's old Abu Ambassadeur. He died back in February and this reel has TONS of sentimental value attached to it. So, I would love to start using it, but I want to know as much about it as I can. Sorry for the bad pics, I had to use my webcam. Can anyone tell me like what gear ratio, line # and capacity, and what type of rod and technique it would be good for? Also, I would love to know what year it is from if there is anyway to find that out. What I do know: It says No. 5000, AB.URFABRIKEN SVANGSTA SWEDEN, and the serial number on the reel seat is 287621. Thanks everyone. If there are any other pictures you need to help I can take them

  4. At my girlfriends house, they stocked their pond with like 1/3 bass, gills, and cats. The bass and catfish populations are excellent, but the bream are very scarse. Although, when you catch one it is almost guaranteed to weigh over a pound. And I dont think they went through the DNR or anything,
  5. That's just because a lot more people know Shreveport than Bossier. But now, people don't care, so they don't want to be from a dirty old city like shreveport, haha. I'll be going out for some more jig fishing soon and I'll update this thread with any big guys.
  6. I keep my rod tip up, pointed at the lure with the line semi-tight, and give it a couple small pops. I either feel them when i pop it, or the line moves a little bit.
  7. I decided I should probably learn how to fish a jig. 1. because of all the big fish pictures I've been seeing. 2. It's getting cold, and they are good cold weather lures. Anyway, I was throwing a little 1/4oz jig with a zoom chunk from the bank. It was a lot easier to pick up on the bites then I though it was going to be. So here they are, nothing big, but it got me hooked on jigs. I'll be buying a proper flipping stick here soon. First ever jig bass: Second ever jig fish, and it was a big one, lol: Another small one: Biggest, gave herself away striking at my jig topwater when I was reeling it in, so I threw it back and got a hit: Then, I hook into something nice and it wraps up my jig in some wood so I lose it and have to start throwing texas rig.
  8. ok.....so we know who is going to be the first to lose it...lol
  9. no freaking kidding. The one that I run into most are the spiders up in the limbs that hang over the water. Real fun when you go to get a bait un-hung and spiders are dropping in your 10' pirogue.
  10. He doesn't. I always get skunked.
  11. yeah, I'm in louisiana, I'd give it a go. I just wouldn't want to be the one that lost the Lucky Craft. I could start us out with a Sebile Crankster if anyone wanted to use that.
  12. "hell yeah" But what I say normally after I set the hook is "Crap" because I miss them.
  13. Way to go. IDK about everyone else, but I felt like it was really poor character to pull out that jersey like he did.
  14. I won that sebile cranskster on here. At first I didn't like it, but now I really do. It's really well made, casts like a missile. It doesn't have all that much body wiggle though.
  15. I keep my tackle selection to a minimum, so I don't have much stuff that sucks, but...... 1. Banjo Minnow (do I need to say more?) 2. Rat-L-Traps 3. Suspending Jerkbaits
  16. Is BassPro ever going to carry these things?
  17. where in louisiana are you wobble?
  18. the swim senko has lots of tail action, I just find it super hard to rig straight
  19. I would be scared to go swimming in the place you caught that fish from. Based on the picture, I would safely assume that if you gut hooked him you could climb into his mouth and unhook it, whilst having plenty of headroom.
  20. 15.97lb is the LA state record. if I had my own scale and weighed it and it was over that, I would bring it in for an official weight. Say whatever you will, but to me, I think getting a state record (or world) is the ultimate achievement in fishing, and if one fish has to die so that I can get my name at the top of that list, then so be it. Think about it this way: if you get the world record and release the fish, maybe someone will come along and catch the fish when it gets bigger and beats your record. I'm kidding, lol ;D ;D ;D This fish here, I gut hooked it, it was bleeding bad, and I didn't know if it was going to live, so I gave it to a guy that looked like he could use it. It was probably 5 pounds or so, and I don't feel bad at all.
  21. i wacky rig plastic worms with those hooks that have wire guards on them and I have been doing just fine
  22. I take pictures of every fish I catch, and list what bait and color it was, I'm hoping that after a while i'll be able to narrow down which baits and colors are producing the best, that way I know what my "default" will be when I get out somewhere
  23. People are going to get kinda mad at your for this. however, don't listen to them, i think it's cool. If you look at the alternative (killing and eating them) I don't think that living out its years in a life of luxury getting hand fed is all that bad.
