Picked up my new ride today!
It is very nice. I came from a moded 1436 jon which was a great boat, this one is heaven by comparison. I have taken it out 3 times already, been a joy. Took it on a day I knew I would have a LOT of wake to contend with, and it did well, very well.

Boone, NC
LOL Daviscw, I KNEW you could not let him past without a PM. You'll have to take him to Linville or Wilson for some trout.

Cost of getting a outboard engine looked at
You will pay a mint at the dealerships (go figure). However, there are bound to be at least half a dozen professional grease monkeys near you that will do just as good a job at a fraction of the price. I found one near me by asking a few folks at the launch with similar (but older) motors like mine. You might get some good feedback positive and negative.

Hey from South Carolina
Wow, a Clemson fan in Columbia! You must like to live on the wild side. LOL. Good to have you on board here.

Hey from South Carolina
Columbia and Clemson! You have got to be one conflicted guy when it comes to college sports. I had to cousins graduate from Clemson, they say that schools is more of a disease than a school. Judging by the amount of orange in their houses I am starting to agree with that. LOL.

Prayers needed for one of my students!
Prayers sent man. My father got AML when I was a senior in High school. Not fun, but he made it through, and that has been a long while. Keep your hopes up.

does sunscreen/lotion have adverse effects on fish biting.
It absolutely does for me! If I don't put any on in the summer, I rapidly get burned to the point that I can't get anywhere near my boat to go fishing for a week. I also tend to get this weird buzzing-like noise in my ears sounds something like: "I told you to wear sunscreen!! What are you retarded?? Don't come home all burned and whine at me about being burned...". Repeats over and over and over...LOL

Do pro's pee off the boat?
LOL Awesome. As the father of 4 daughters 2 of which fish with me, you can understand my personal curiosity. To date, in the summer it is warm, they have lifejackets on and are usually hot anyway, I just throw them overboard. LOL. They love it. I will not be doing that in December however.

Do you reveal your good fishing lakes/spots?
There are some well known spots around the lake. To a newbie I will give them those locations. I have a couple spots that are to hit a lot and those I share with friends only. Now on a couple occasions I have had out of town BR folks contact me who are heading to Wylie for a trip and looking for some spots. i will give them the best spots I know of. I know i will not have to compete for the spots and might help them have a good trip.

Do pro's pee off the boat?
Now the scary question is...what about the female pro's? Somehow I don't see them just going off the front of the boat.

in need of a boat
Look for a cheap jon boat. You can get one for a couple hundred and car top it or put it in your bed. Add stuff to it as cash becomes available. If you can't spare couple hundred right now...just do some shore fishing. I used to take my girls for more than a year from shore before I got my jon.

Almost clocked a car sales manager today
Worst I had personally was a local dealership that had listening devices out in the lot. I know this cause we chatted with about the sleaziest sales guy I have ever met. After he leaves, my wife says something like "He acted like me and the kids did not even exist. Just another one of those guys who think the wife opinion does not matter.". I made mention of how the guy must be new cause he has tried about ever pressure tactic in the "Car sales for dummies." book. He walks back from inside the main building, says hi to our kids, shakes my wife hand, ask her what she thinks about the vehicle we had looked at, and then goes on a long schpeel about how he is not about using pressure tactics to sell a car. I was like...alright, I am outta here.

This would definitely call for an #^* Kicking. no kidding! After that, I would throw him up there to get 'em. The salesguy would have to be a total loser to do that.

The Beginings of a Jon Boat Conversion
Definitely. I would make the entire superstructure out of Aluminum. It will help you out with the weight. On my 14 ft, I decked it and due to the lightweight superstructure was able to do it and add only 25-30 lbs to the boat.

Fish finder install on 12' Jon Boat
One other thing, how big is that motor? I had an 8 and despite reassurances from the dude I bought it from, I had to significantly reinforce the transom in mine to prevent cracks from forming.

before you drill the hole, make sure it does not impact your warranty. Some manufacturers will put fine print in there about voiding the warranty once you drill through the hull. You are probably alright, just make sure first.

One other note on the motors, for anyone looking at these. With the 60, when properly trimmed. With 2 guys in it, I have gotten it up to about 36 mph. With me and my daughter (she weighs about as much as my tackle box), it gets near 40. On their site, Tracker had a nice little chart on how fast these things can get with the various motors, it is pretty dead on. I do like that, at least for a limited time until th ebreak in period is done, I can out-run most of the pleasure boaters on the lake. I cannot tell you haw many times those guys would overtake me in my jon as VERY close range (despite having a 3/4 mile channel) and nearly overturn the boat.

Those are all running to the motor. One of them is the line that runs to the steering, the other I am not sure. When I pull the cover off her again tomorrow, I will check it out. They all run to the motor give the location I would lean towards fuel line.

I had a Eagle Cuda set up on my Topper 14, I rigged up my own but was very similar to the on in the photo. The only difference was I bought a bicycle tire tube, cut it open and wrapped the aluminum in it to keep any friction with the hull down to a minimum. The wire just run up over the back. Once i had it over the back I used some wire straps to keep it neat and clean from the back of the boat to the battery.

First of the pics. I got my little fishing partners approval with it today and got the first 6 fish caught in it:

LOL. You ever see that Ron White deal he does on car salesmans position in the universe? I have MAYBE found 1 I actually liked. Even Saturn, who are supposed to be the "NO BS" car company pulled some really nasty garbage on me. Incompetence is rampant but to cover it up with a total lack of empathy, with his comment on the car fax report, that he didn't look at it right the first time...a simple apology probably would have done better.

You just never know who is in the crowd
I know a few rich folk, they are all real folks. The problem is those people don't make the news so we don't get that stereotype out in the media

Buying an SUV to tow...which one to get
I have an '02 Trailblazer. With it, I have towed a 18 ft camper form Buffalo, NY to Gastonia, NC. I have towed the camper up and down mountains, I have pull a light jon boat and my new tracker pro team 175 with it. Taken it through snow, off-road, literally through a shallow stream a few times. It is not a perfect vehicle, they tend to have tranny problems (mine was rebuilt under warranty), because of aluminum sun gears. Overall though with 120k on it so far, it has been a very reliable (knock on wood), very versatile vehicle. The straight 6 runs quiet and gives you a good deal of power (for a 6) when you need it. With a good set of tires and the 4x4 I have not managed to get it stuck yet.

Also to their credit, while I did go through the break in with my 4 stroke on my jon, the Tracker guys were VERY big on walking me through the break in period. They went through it like 4 times. Personally, this motor was easier than my 8 HP. My 8 HP had no RPM gauge. You could not tell what the RPMs were so it went by 1/2 throttle, 3/4 throttle, etc. Was almost the same process as the 60. The 8 did not have the 1 minute full throttle bursts though.
