Time and Age
My grandfather used to chalk it up to perspective. When you are 2 a year represents half your lifetime. When you are 10, 1/10th and so on. So the older you are getting, the less a percentage of your total time on earth goes by with each second. I am only in my 30's and I can definitely say time flies MUCH faster than it used to. By the time I am 60 (provided I am fortunate enough to live that long), time will move so fast I will probably be able to see my car rust like an action flick.

ALWAYS KEEP YOUR KILLSWITCH LANYARD ATTACHED -VIDEO
The comments on the video say another boat went and picked up the 3 people who fell out while these guys went after the boat.

ALWAYS KEEP YOUR KILLSWITCH LANYARD ATTACHED -VIDEO
When I first started using one I frequently forgot to put it on, I started taking the lanyard and draping it over the throttle handle so I had to either see or touch it to engage...helped get me used to always clipping it on before I started moving. not a bad idea right there.

New boat or not? help.
Definitely shop the rates and have a backbone with them. I financed about 1/3 of my new boat. Without going into details I have a very high credit rating, the amount I was financing was very small. The bank I have been doing business with for the last 8 years, tried to get me to do a credit card or personal loan (at 14%). Then tried to tell me I had no equity for the loan, I reminded him about the BOAT whose invoice was sitting on his desk, and the total value was WAY above what I was financing. Anyway I had to leave and pulled all my accounts out of the bank. The boat dealer could only do 10 yr financing. I ended up going to a credit union and small bank and the credit union beat everyone. The small bank was nice though too. So look at the credit union or small hometown bank and go in with the terms you want. If they cant do it, walk

ALWAYS KEEP YOUR KILLSWITCH LANYARD ATTACHED -VIDEO
I wonder, if it would do any good to drag a LONG line ahead of a boat in this situation to maybe get it on the prop and disable it. That would be the only thing I would think of. If i saw this going down on Wylie, if i tried anything that would be it. My main concern would be there are a LOT of boats on Wylie, a LOT of them towing kids, and I could not sit there and watch it just go into some. I know from personal experience when my father accidentally got a tow line caught in our prop on the Niagara, it stalled the boat almost instantly. That is about all I can think of to counter this. I do usually wear my kill switch, but I can honestly say, I have pulled up the TM, come off the bow, jumped in and gone and forgotten to hook it up sometimes. I put a lanyard on it so it is easy to hook it on and off so I had less of an excuse.

Catfish Whiskers
After getting stuck last time, I just got me one of these: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?type=product&cmCat=Related_IPL_014820&id=0018687015490a works great and I can have the kids use it without getting hooked themselves (see profile pic). Works on just about any sizable breed. You can pull them out of the water, grab 'em, get the hook out and put them back without a net, or getting your hands on wiping off any of that slime off their bodies.

BR help needed
Scam man, there is absolutely no way for the IRS to contact you via email like that. No reputable business will ever do that. if you ever have thoughts to whether such an email is real, whether from the IRS, a bank, etc, open your phone book, find their phone number and call them directly. I will also reiterate, if they call you, refuse to talk to them, once again, hang up, look up their number and call them directly. I have had guys call me try to pretend to be my bank, insurance company, and even the IRS. The insurance one was almost comical as they could barely speak clear english and they did not even block their number on my caller ID (the police went to chat with them after that call). Don't even click the link, a lot of those sites have trojans embedded in them which will attempt to infect your machine as soon as you go there.

Roids...
My cousin got put in 'roids after a brain tumor. The tumor also destroyed whatever in her head told her she was full. So she would never feel full and she has an absolutely ravenous appetite thanks to the 'roids. She went from a slim 140 to 300+ lbs in less than a year.

Random crankbait use question
I have put up to 20lb test on it and with the exception of really light baits, I can cast it forever. When it comes to the reels, I loathe the closed reels, they always tangle up on me and tick me off. For some reason any time I spend with a baitcaster ends up more like a greek tragedy than a fishing trip. For my current fishing approach, I can get the best combination of ease of use, and effectiveness from my spinning gear. Just works for me. Good point on the rod. My 7' ticks me off. I bought it when I had little understanding of the action of a rod. Ever since I started using it, I have regretting that purchase. My 6' 6" rods, 90-95% of the time I can accurately cast them within 3-4 inches of my intended target 15-20 ft away. With my 7', I have to use 2 hands for the cast and I will cast to an area more than a specific spot. My next round of rods I was going to replace my 7' with something with a lot less play to it. This is great advice though guys. I am really loving it. For those using the Rapala DT's, you really like them? For some reason I just cannot get into them. I have eyed them a ton of times and I just have not pulled the trigger on them.

Circuit Breaker?

Random crankbait use question
good point...a little details.... 2 rigs I use 7' and 6'6" rods both are setup with spinning reels, 6'6" has 8 lb mono 7' has 15 lb flouro I also have another 6'6" spinning combo with 8 lb microfuse braid. I can throw my lipless easily enough and I have some heavy cranks I can throw real good, almost all of the are rapala. The ones giving me the most trouble are: Rapala HJ-6 Huskyjerk Rapala original floating4g 1/8 oz Rapala Countdown sinking 5g 3/16 oz though this one I can get with lighter gear I do well with a couple: Rapala Minnow rap 6g 3/16 Rapala xtreme shad slashbait not sure of the weight but it is at least 6g

Buffalo Wild Wings
I am extremely biased against those stores. As far as not being in Buffalo, their stuff is probably amongst the best, however, from growing up in Buffalo, there was a mom and pop I went to used a sauce called "*ss in the tub" (with the actual spellling) to which they added some extra stuff. It was absolutely unfathomable, and about what I would call my absolute upper limit. Personally, I like them to have a kick but so much my tastebuds die before I can get the flavor. So to Wild wings, I would say maybe their hot is about where I will draw the line most days unless I am in the mood for some real spice.

Circuit Breaker?
yep. On myt old jon, I actually carried my TM battery in one of those black plastic battery boxes with the handles on the side. I riveted my circuit breaker on the inside of the box right next to the battery and threw a small chunk of wood in the bottom to keep the battery from sliding around into it. Give you a portable self contained way to keep it all together.

Random crankbait use question
Alright guys, for those who love crankbaits. What types to you prefer (Lipless, floating, sinking, etc), size, brand name and such. What type/strength line do you use generally? Also, when you cast these puppies, who far do you usually throw them out? I love these but one of my big problems with some of my lighter ones is I cannot get these things out from the boat more than a few feet. Seems they need to be out there further, but even with light line (8 lb) they still don't get very far out.

Stung by a catfish, cured by his bellie
A couple years ago, I got one that went through my finger right to the bone. I tried it and it worked a little but I can tell ya, having one of those things stuck into a bone, don't matter what you rub into it, it is gonna keep hurting.

Bass Clubs
hey man...did you ever find one? I have been looking for one in Gastonia/Gaston county for a bit. Though not looking really hard. Given the level of interest I have gotten from others in the area, I have been considering getting some folks to start one up. Though with my lack of experience with them, and from some of the posts I have seen in here...I am a bit reluctant to take on the task.

dead lunker
I would say this is one of those rules that need to be explicitly defined. When it comes time to vote in new rules for the year, bring it up yourself and tell them you need an explicit definition. Then if anyone complains you have an excuse to beat them with a tacklebox. Honestly though I do not *** you in that role. Sounds like the same thing with officers in a bowling league. You can define rules and give everyone a copy of the rules in 30 pt bold print and you can BET someone will complain about something that was clearly laid out in the rules when they started. The key is nobody likes to lose, add money and you make it even worse.

It will never be in my driveway, but check this car out
Well, even if I had the cash...it still won't pull my camper or boat. It looks real sweet, but as much as I may ooogle it, I am too practical when it comes to buying vehicles. I have set of needs I need to vehicle to fit (Transportation, Towing, hauling/storage, reliability, ease to work on, Looks, fuel economy.). Even the car I have right now...2002 Trailblazer. I ended up with it, cause it came with a towing package, could fit the 2 kids I had at the time (that numnber went to 4), could haul some stuff, with a straight 6 had decent mileage for the vehicle type. I got the base model, with 4x4. No electronic climate control, sun/moon roof etc. Got 125k on it so far. In leau of a new car I got a 09 Tracker 175 txw, a HUGE and full tackle box, vacations, etc. I get picked on non-stop from my family for being "cheap" on my cars, but hey...I am perfectly content with oogling ones like these and living with what I got. Sorry for the rambling....LOTS and LOTS of coffee today.....LOL

Circuit Breaker?
Cabela's has the Ranger style circuit breaker for $39.99. I just received it yesterday and will install it tomorrow. Good question though. Until I bought my first TM and actually read the manual, I NEVER heard of these. You'd think they would include them with the motor.

Ranger fans chime in
And keep in mind a large oil drum with a 12# TM, and a lawn chair glued to it still beat fishing from shore. It was not so long ago I was at the shore only so if it floats...it is good!! Ride smooth, runs fast, that's just gravy. I get constantly reminded of that by the dude I see everyday just about at the launch I go to. He pulls up in a beat up old explorer, pulls an inflatable raft with 900 patches on it out, inflated it and attaches an OB that looks older than my father to it. Thing sounds horrible , barely moves, and take 9,000 pulls to start but the dude enjoy every freaking moment of it and catches the crap out of the fish. Helps to keep perspective...good luck man!!
