Tipping?
I am with you there. Whats funny, I used to work at a McDs through HS and college. We were forbidden from tips or putting anything like that on a counter. You tip a waitress cause they actually do service. They get refills, come back to your table at regular intervals and actually take care of you while you are there. There is more skill to it. McD's is set up now with staging, Q'ing ovens, clamshell grills, a well trained monkey can do that job. As long as it does not try to kill insane customers. As for the gift giving, I do not do that but I could see for hairdressers and such, you develop a more personal relationship, especially women folk. Since they put a lot more consideration into looking nice for us schlubs. I know my wife loves ot do little things. Like when our mechanic went out of the way and did a lot of extra work, for free, that he didnt need to do but he was helping us out, next time she was in, she brought a dozen donuts, they still salivate when I go in there after that. I would not say I would feel obligated to though by any means

10' jon boat vs. bass raider 8'
I like the jon. They are not too heavy and if you dont like it, it is easy to mod it to your needs. Just my personal pref though. sux you have to lose your old one though.

for you dog owners.
Well if you get a good herder they can help you in this manner: its a tough life. Seriously though...I got a black lab, the BEST dog I ever had was a Black lab German shepherd mix. She had the lab temperament, coat, and swimming ability, a shepherd shape and train ability and while she was extremely friendly, if ANYONE messed with any member of the family she would make them regret it. great House dog, greta camping dog

Lake types
This is great info guys. Up north I fished Erie, and the NIagara River a lot. Down here I hit Wylie which is an old impoundment. That makes a lot of sense what you are saying on the lack of vegetation.

The one hit coves?
Tell me about it. I had one, had to be at least 7#, maybe more, it swam right up to the side of the boat about maybe 3-4 inches under the surface and sat there. I threw every lure I had at it, live bait, I nearly got my knife and jumped in after it. Would follow some of them, but would not bit. Then it just slowly swam off. Made me really think. How many times have I thrown a line in and had half a dozen nice bass watch it maybe even follow without a bite.

Any experience with tracker 175txw?
Mine is an 09. The good thing about the 175txw hull, it is an all welded hull. Good point on the FF though. It is my only real "disappointment" with the boat. I have a deal with my wife, I am waiting to pay it off, when I do, the next thing is one of those SI units. I was thinking about keeping the old cheap unit for rough guidance when I got the motor on, then putting the SI on the TM so when I get into a hole, I can get the best possible look at whats down there. My lake does not have a ton of weeds or anything like that so there is nothing to interfere with the TM and I am pretty happy with it. I can see where folks would go with a bigger TM. If you figure out how to get another battery in there let me know. The thing i go like, it has a 21 gal internal tank. I got the 60 HP, I can fish it all day run end to end of Lake Wylie and use up only half a tank. Considering I came from a 1436 jon, my Tracker seems huge to me. LOL. Then of course, you go look at the kitty kitty kitty thread...

Lake types
So I recently got a chance to drive from NC to Pa I-85 and I-95. Got a good look at a lot of lakes and realized how different they were from my home lake. A lot of the advice I did not understand on here really made sense looking at those lakes. For example, I hit Lake Wylie in NC a lot. It is pretty deep in most spots (20-60 ft), there are some great shallows and drop offs but not much vegetation to speak of. Most of my fishing is in 15-5 ft of water. More on the deeper side actually. The shallows have never been great for me in my lake. and I royally stink at deep water (20+ ft) at catching anything but catfish. Summer top water temp is in the 90's, winter 50's, Spring and fall between the 2, usually mid 60's to low 70's So my thought on this was first of all, selfish, anyone fish a lake of the type of Wylie and have any pointers to increase odds of finding them in such a lake? Also, any other lake types, or methods you would utilize to focus on specific areas in those lake types?

The one hit coves?
So here is a thought that has always perplexed me. I have 3 or 4 of these places in my home lake. You stumble upon them by accident. At least 2 of them are PERFECT LMB habitat, you fish them and have a heck of a day. Catching your pb and a mess of others. Just hitting them like crazy. You MAY get 1 or 2 more days like that then, you cannot ever catch a fish there again. I have these places I have had this happen have tried every angle I can think of. Time of year, weather, etc. Still they never seem to produce again. Anyone else see this where you fish? Any biologic, behavior thought to what gives on these areas? Is it just I got lucky and hit it that one day when everything lines up? I would not think I could alter their patterns by fishing it once or twice. These areas I am talking about were fished VERY lightly. Probably because other guys saw the same thing.

when is fall mode over
I totally agree with this. In the past I've wasted too much time doing what the fish are supposed to be doing and not letting them tell me what they are doing. If they aren't biting just keep changing baits and locations until you figure out whats up. Good point guys. The best days I have had, I have caught fish where and when I was not supposed to. The rules are really more like guidelines.

One of the most perplexing questions of all time
And this show was from the generation that brought us the baby boomers and free love. So you know they were not "dead".

Very Disturbing
NO matter how bad, it wont make up for such a horrible crime.

Saw this while fishing today.....
I ran into one while wading a stream, it was about 3 feet next to me when I saw it. Was half skeletal by then, freaked the heck out of me.

Any experience with tracker 175txw?
I have got one and have had it for a few months. I love it. Keep in mind I went from a highly moded 1436 Jon. I got it cause I needed a light weight boat, that was durable in case I hit something. I also could not get anything much larger than the 175 txw because of room in my driveway. I was done with doing mods so I wanted a full package. For the price, the package was great. I got the 60 hp motor got it up to about 44 when I trim it out right. It is a good boat. For me it goes plenty fast, gets me on the fish, is comfortable to fish, and reasonable to maintain.

What the heck.
Yeah, but I didn't feel like coming up with a formula that will equal to 3. Beside, what is the odd of a bookkeeper in account receivable at this company Gman order from will understand that? ;D nerds. I'm so glad I only had to take two math courses at school. I have completely forgotten most of the math that I learned in high school. Dude, I'm on my 3rd of 4th math class. I've had a different math class every semester I've been in college. What the crap... I had to do the same for my Comp Sci degree. Guess how much of it I could do now? GMAN....Awesome outcome man. Kudos for keeping your cool.

I hate this time of year
Well I can actually relate. I remember every year not getting my dads boat in the water till may and taking it out in Oct or Nov. Seemed like we just got it ready to go in. Was a royal PITA and seemed like a waste to do all that work for a few months of time on the water. Down here, it is awesome. My dad came down one time and was bugging me about winterizing my boat, I was telling him, there ain't no point in doing it here cause it goes out every month. Heck the way my work schedule worked out, I was out more in December than I was in August. The funny thing was, all that time living on the Niagara and near lake Ontario and Erie and I never went ice fishing once. My ADHD nature really leans me more towards Trout stream fishing and fishing on a boat since i can move around and change scenes throughout the day.

What the heck.
Man you are cooler than me. That would tick me off to no end. To begin with, IF there was a problem they should have told you right off why there was a problem. I would think that any glitch like this happens frequently enough that they should have sent you a statement outright apologized for the error and explained why there was an outstanding balance. If it did happen a lot, that may be why they are pushing $3.00. You could be one of hundreds of folks who got messed up and that overall cost may be more than they can eat. Personally, were i running the company, i would be first looking at going after the processing company that messed this up. I wonder if they have even tried or if it is possible. Either way, would like to see how this ends up for ya.

I hate this time of year
yeah that would depress me. One of the things I like abot NC, we don't have a off-season for fishing. We have certain fish that cycle on and off different times of the year but never a time when we cannot get into water.
-
how do u tell your friend...
LOL. I can tell ya. I have had a boat 2 yrs. I have had one with me in the front a couple months. (the other I controlled from the back). About 50 percent of my fishing is just me. While I try to position the boat where I "THINK" the 2 of us will have the best combined angle, I can say as far as successfully pulling that off not too sure about that. LOL. It is almost an art form.

a detroit lions worts nightmare
It is a great beer. They have it plenty in NC. Though I would think at this moment a detroit lions worst nightmare would be to get traded to the Panthers. >
