  1. Welcome from Gaston county NC!!
  2. Besides jumping on and off trains....before the internet, anyone remember the "anarchists cookbook" They sold it as comic book stores around my house. From that I made Napalm, and countless small explosives that SHOULD have killed me and others (probably the dumbest things I ever did). Climbing train bridges, jumping off them into the Erie canal (no idea how I missed the boats). If I went through all of the things we did, like many others on here I'd probably fill this entire thread. I just hope my kids are not a dumb as I was...
  3. Last week I picked up a S&W M&P 40. I hit up everyone I knew around here for info on models. I looked at a Glock but got some advice from my sister and brother in law who both on cops. On their force they are issues S&W 40 from the city. They have the option to give them back and purchase a 40 cal Glock on their own. A LOT did and they had issues, I should say the 2 women did as did some of the men. From what they told me, their problems were a result of a weaker grip on the weapon. The recoil would cause the weapon to jam (not a good feature for a cop). The weight on the S&W's would lessen the recoil enough that they did not have these issues. That being said the Glock I played with were very comfortable weapons, light, had some good power and for the handful of round I fired, did not jam. I just loved the feel of the S&W's. The recoil issue though was big for me since the weapon is to be for me AND my wife when I go on travel.
  4. IMO, if a parent wants to take their kid(s) to Hooters, that is their judgment to make for their kids. A school however, should deliberately steer clear of these types of things. As a school official you would have to know this is one of those borderline things. You'd know you would get grief from folks which would interfere with education. So IMO they should have had the forethought to steer clear. I would be ticked if the school decided taking my kids there was a good idea. Yeah they have good food, but they are marketed for other things. Granted there are a lot of worse things out there. I have seen more provocative dress in my local BPS.
  5. Were the emails in outlook or on another email client or on AT&T's servers?
  6. I had a tracker 1436jon , but trailered it behind my minivan for a while. I took my kids out lots in it and it was great. Mind you not nearly as good as the PT 175txw I replaced it with but we fished it for 4 seasons and besides really windy high wake, conditions, it was awesome. I did mod it though, added front and aft casting decks and put in some pedestal seats.
  7. Someone is going to get in serious trouble for that. I know from when I lived in WNY, the postal service does not take kindly to such things. They had a temp dude dumping mail off a bridge into a creek. They prosecuted the heck out of the dude and sent a LOT of mailmen into the gorge and through the creek to find as much mail as they could.
  8. These types of things are the things I do not miss about hunting. I once had some retard actually using the scope on his shotgun to look around. Which would not have been too bad but he was scoping me. When I was dressing in Orange camo and was up in a tree stand. When I saw him I pointed my gun right at him, to see if he got the point. That dude went a few hundred yards away, and must have fired 20+ shots over there during the day. Saw him afterwards he got nothing. He should have gone to the range and not hunting that day.
  9. interesting stuff guys. I honestly never heard this before.
  10. Nice way to keep cool man. With my 4 little girls in the house, and the freaky crimes that have been going on around here lately I am not sure I would have been to restrained. Glad to see it all turned out alright and that nobody was hurt.
  11. The heavy rolling pin works great with a heavy guy pressing down on it too.
  12. Toggle bolts LOL, that's the name...got some heavy duty ones 3 on each side of the mount and the 3m adhesive, held like a charm.
  13. I mounted mine directly to the bench seats in my Tracker. I am having a brainfart today, use those screws with the thingy on the end of them that looks like a little pacman, you put it through it opens up and u tighten down. Had 6 of them in there. Then under the mounting bracket I loaded it up with perm 3M marine adhesive. Held fine.
  14. I have seen it before, Always gets me laughing. The BEST part, is it actually happened, http://www.snopes.com/humor/letters/dammed.asp
  15. Tell me about it. I even had the shad color on it. Might as well have been throwing an empty hook. As for the net, believe me, if I had one, I would have been extremely tempted to use it. I saw multiple 3# - 5#ers jumping some within 2-3 ft of the boat. I could see all the shad right next to the boat. I tried the LiveTarget shad lure I have it literally looks identical to the shad that were jumping. I thought for sure it would work. No luck whatsoever. I did not pick up a single one till I got ticked motored about 4 miles away and worked a shoreline in current (had a lot of rain about 3 days before) with a plastic u-tail worm. Made me feel a little better.
  16. 3-4 ft of muddy water. FULL of small shad, with bass hammering them literally all around you. I threw everything I had at them but could not get them interested. I had plastic worms (tried 4 colors), Flukes, spinners (3 colors), shallow rapala cranks (silver/black) like the shad, livetarget shad crankbaits, buzzbait, literally everything I had but nothing. A couple of times I could have used a baseball bat and hit one coming up through the shad. One of the most frustrating experiences I have been in in a long while. Thoughts...?
  17. lol. Took me about a year, course maybe because I am more needy than you are and ask all sorts of weird questions. What would be interesting would be if they had a reporting tool that broke out your posts by topic. I would guess 80% or more of mine would be split between "everything else" and "bass boating and more".
  18. Anyone know where the LiveTarget ones are made? I thought they were US,but they may be Canada. They are some pretty cool crankbaits.
  19. To add, aluminum is lighter, which is a huge plus for those of us who need to have a lighter boat to allow our vehicles to tow. I got a minivan and a Trailblazer. The TB can handle anything just about but the van would not do anything but a light tin boat. Which comes in particularly handy when it comes to camping. Let's my wife tow the boat to the site while the TB pulls the camper. I had to laugh the other day, I pulled my boat out and when I got to the top of the ramp, the stern had shifted to it was not aligned right on the trailer, I just grabbed a hold of the side and pushed it into place. Try that with a glass boat, lol. Also I can run all day long (12 hours) run Wylie end to end on 1/2 tank of gas (using about 12 gals of gas), run at 45 with a 60 HP, and use a 45# TM to pull the boat around at an acceptable rate. Course those that with a glass boat would be laughing endlessly at me in a good wind. Might as well be fishing on a sail. LOL. My TM gets a serious workout and you have to get creative to hold a spot or to work a shoreline using the wind to push you the right way. Tin boats have come a long way, I really get a great ride out of my '09 PT 175. It is plenty wide up front and in back, has good storage, I have so far put in 7 rods in the locker with plenty room for more. Pretty stable as well. Maybe if I ran in one of y'alls really nice glass boats that opinion would change. However, I am happy with my boat either way fits my particular need. I see the whole tin vs glass religious argument almost useless. Each has strengths and weaknesses but they sell both because each fit niches that the other does not. To my rambling, barely coherent point, You just need to define up front your needs/wants from the boat and then use that to guide your glass vs tin decision, then after that the decision REALLY gets fun when you look at the brands.
  20. My 07' Tracker Pt170 will hold 7' rods just fine, and I have had up to 14 rods in the locker. Yeah my 09 pt175 hold 7' rods as well.
  21. Wow

Reminds me of the self destruction of Mike Vicks brother. It always blows my mind when you have these guys who have opportunity piled miles high in front of them, and they go and do something like this. If there were any reason I would want to go into Psychology, it would be study boys like this and understand the the thinking patterns that lead you to be so irrational.
  22. Anyone remember the old debate back inthe 80's an 90's about how music was making kids gangsta's? Then it was general TV shows. Now it is video games. How about looney tunes, I grew up watching people getting flattened and worse (granted not as graphic but violent), and I have yet to commit an act of mass murder. It is also all these news services doing this and perpetuating the idea that nobody is responsible for their actions anymore. I remember watching the live reports on Columbine and guessing how long it would be before they blamed society, video games, etc for these kids hateful rampage through school. I have seen extremely violent movies, and video games, none of them bugged me, but the murder scene photos from the trial I was a jury member on nearly sickened me and they were 1/4 as gory as even a PG movie. That was because my parents taught me a long time ago about the difference between TV and video games and reality. A lot of games let you play either side. I remember playing battlefield 1942, you could be the Nazi's if you wanted to. With the desert combat mod you could be iraqi's shooting at US troops. So this is nothing new, just more realistic. As for Fox news being better or worse, I do not see it. All these US based news shows are heavily biased one way or another. They all skew their stories to make sure they get the max viewer count. You only have to look at the way they do the weather. How they break for commercial to tell you "joe smith from the SEVERE weather center with you forcecast next..." When they come back he tells you it will be 80 and sunny all day long. Really if Fox is not "real" news, IMO, neither is CNN, MSNBC, or any of the others. They all pontificate now. If anything it is good to have a Fox on one end of the spectrum and the others on the other end to help balance things out.
  23. truthfully, I would have gone for the neutral rating with a comment on the packaging. In essence, he met his obligation, albeit by the grace of God since that item could have easily been damaged in transit. The way I look at it with any business, I will contact them first when they make a mistake. Mistakes are the opportunity for any business to show its true character. What I would have looked for was him to give a more business like response, an apology, with an acknowledgment that something went wrong with the packaging in this case. Just giving him the negative rating, probably brought out a bit of his "humanity", from his perspective you blindsided him as you did not try to work it out at all before making the rating. So he focused on that instead of your comment and the resulting response was not really great on his part. In the future, I would do as other have suggested, contact the seller first, make at least an attempt to rectify the situation ahead of time. Then if you get a snooty or lack of response, you have full justification for a negative rating. Obviously, your intent was not to hammer the dude but the rating without contacting sort of did that to him. If put in your shoes, if you can change the rating, I would dump it to a neutral, maybe send him a quick note on the change of rating and your opinions in the matter and end it there. Just lets you be the bigger man.
  24. This is why my principal in high school was effective. Mr. Slavin would not have banned a word. It was well understood by all of us that if we disrupted school saying anything, we were in trouble. He did not need to ban a word or ever reiterate that rule. Man that dude was a mean old man (from a teenagers perspective) but he was an awesome principal (from an adult perspective) and under his watch we did not mess around. IMO, if the principal needs to ban a word screeched by a muppet to stop kids from disrupting class, I think he has some serious issues already in controlling the student body.
  25. congrats man!!
