CNN live, now, 6 year old in balloon
Well, I am so glad they find this kid alive and well. I did not think I would ever have need to say this, but..when one has multiple kids, amongst the top items to NOT leave unattended and unlocked in the backyard....a very large experimental balloon, filled with helium, tethered so lightly a 6 yr old can undo it. Just putting it out there.

Fourbizz makes a beer run.
I have been pretty drunk in my youth, never anything approaching that. What scares me is one question..."How did he get there?" If he drove, then they needed to get the cops quick, that would be one of those things where it goes from funny to tragic in a heartbeat.

urp--Wireless trolling motor??
"O I forgot, MK is also comming out with GPS for these units. They will supposedly be able to "hold" your boat within 5 ft of wherever you set it to....automatically. Will also automatically re-trace your bread crumb trails etc. Look out off shore fish!" Now THAT sounds cool. I would be interested though in how it does that. My concern would be what this thing was doing to my boat orientation in keeping that position. I cannot imagine that make it smart enough to realize which way your boat was pointing. I could see how that could be programmed though. It would be cool if it kept your boat position and orientation.

Heartless scammer. **UPDATED**
yeah, I LOVE phone phishing scams. Got a few of those here. The dude behind us tries it from time to time. He is to dumb to cover his number on caller ID. One thing to try, I have heard of folks doing this, could be fun, when they call tell them you do not really trust the phone for this type of transaction. Ask them instead to MAIL via US Postal service, the forms for you to fill out. If they are dumb enough to do that, hand the forms and all your info to your local postmaster. From what I have read, it ramps it up to mail fraud and the Postal service takes that very seriously.

A little common sense please
I think Tin touches on something here. Often we don't hear about all the stuff that happened prior to something like this. We only hear the very last part of the story. So that incident, all by itself, does indeed sound overboard. However, if you discovered this was a problem child with discipline issues, and heard of all the problems they've had with him before (plus all the efforts they put forth to work with him and the parents), then you might think what they did was extremely lenient. It's all a matter of context. Good point Glenn. I would really like to see some wiggle room given to administrators here. As was said before if this is a kid who has never done anything wrong and the intention on the specific incident was not malicious, then slap him on the wrist, but bring the parents in and make them aware that this is his one chance, IF there is a next time, there will not be such leniency. I have 4 kids, in the rush to get them out the door, if one of them decided to grab a butter knife and stick it in their lunchbox, they could do so without me or my wife knowing. The 2 oldest are allow to use them at the dinner table. We did however sit them down when starting school and explain to them that no knives, forks, etc go to the school. The other thing is the idea of what is a weapon. A 2-3 inch blade IMO, is less/equal dangerous than a kid with a sharpened pencil or metal pen. Both can be weapons, both can do serious injury to another child. Now a hunting knife or something larger no doubt no proper to be in school. They need to free up the board and/or administrators to make these decisions. Ideally, IMO, suspend him for a day or 2 first offense, bring him to the board, then give the board to freedom to look at the weapon, intent, kids record, etc and make a balanced decision on appropriate punishment.

Mike Iaconelli: Exclusive Feature-Length Video! New!
Finally got around to watching it. Awesome video. I would have loved it if he was silent and just watching what he was doing. The questions and comments from him was just gravy. Made me feel better that unlike fishing shows, he cast a hundred times on camera without a fish.

The one hit coves?
LOL, perhaps, like people...some bass take longer to learn. I have done the same, in the spring I nailed one about 7-10# on a spinner pulled him right up to the boat reached for the net so I could release him, and he saved me the time, dove under the boat and broke the line. 10 minutes later threw same kind of spinner, same size, just different color (silver since he stole my gold), and caught the same fish (still had spinner in his mouth).

UPEDATE
Ditto. I have IE and FF on my box. I had a period where FF loaded SLOW I mean REALLY slow on this site. I cleared my cache and history a bit and everything straightened out. Why it is this site that seems to do it more than more, not too sure. But then again I do not log into news sites and what not or have them save session or login info like I do here so there is more data to deal with.

Storm Chasers
yeah, I have seen these guys on TV. You would have to be insane to do what they do. However, I am glad there are folks who are. They have gotten some good science off them and any more info we can get to predict these storms and give folks time to get out of the way it good.

Sunglasses
Don't go cheap and get complete coverage. First time I bought some I made both mistakes. The ones I got did not cover the sides so they were useless.

Marilyn Manson
and he was such a nice guy on that Family guy episode. Truly though, for the superstars it is about more than music. It is also a big part, the show. I mean it they dressed up business casual, sat on a stool and sang their songs, well, who would go to see them? He is a master at crafting his image to his music and selling the package. Personally, I do not care for most of his music, but everyone has different tastes and I won't knock anyone for theirs.

Thieves are worthless garbage
Tell the HOA they are retarded. I mean really for what it is going to cost them in paying for these losses, they could put in the most advanced IR camera and security systems out there. There is no rational reason to not install one. If you are taking losses like this cost is just a plain ridiculous argument. Heck for $100 I installed a wireless motion sensor camera within my own home. Sounds to me like their inaction to this point has made them/you a target for these people. They will need to go to extremes to force the criminals to move on. Personally, things like that would put me to the point of selling my place and getting on out of dodge. Good luck on your "discussion" at the meeting. Give 'em heck!

ending High school rivalry
THEY in this case are "adults". You ask the kids, they are totally against ending TNT. It kills me. I ran track at that school. We fit our boy and girls varsity and JV in a single bus. Most schools we ran against had 1 bus for boys varsity, 1 bus for girls varsity and same for JV. We got spanked a lot. But we also broke some records and one meet (against NT) we lost by 1 pt. On a track meet that is like being down by 1 pt in baseball with based loaded and having the guy jump reach his glove over the wall and catch your HR. Closest we had come in 30 years to winning that meet. I can honestly say, playing those sports win or lose were some of the best times of my life. Considering the success I have had in my career, I cannot it scarred me. If anything it developed my resilience. It has always been about more than just the game though. I mean a win was awesome, but without it, TNT was a good time. It was a community thing. One of the things in a town that is 3 sq miles, that brought ya together. IMO, what it comes down to, is some adults feel embarrassed and for their selfish desires want to end it and hide behind the kids as their reasoning. I mean how many traditions does your town have that go back 100 years? Most don't.

10 ft. jon and hauling 3 miles... Wheels on jon??
I could see rigging up a sheet of ply with some sort of dolly rig under it with larger tires. Then you can just strap it down with bungees for the walk down/up the trail. Since you will likely be leaving it on the shore while you go out, don't make it too expensive or someone will get tempted to borrow it.

Why isn't
Maybe if all ya Canes fans out there bought more hats and T-Shirts they'd bump ya up on the televised list. All about the $$ man.

ending High school rivalry
Now to be clear I am 15 years out of high school. This just bugs me though. I went to the City of Tonawanda (THS) High School in Tonawanda, NY. For 100 years, we have had a rivalry we call TNT. It is against North Tonawanda. Always been a big deal. Huge homecoming stuff, egg throwing, partying etc., large school sponsored bonfire, charity events, etc. Everyone, from 2 to 92 goes to the game to watch it. The problem is THS is about 1/3 to 1/2 the size of NTHS. So for the last 9 years we have gotten plastered in this game. This year, is the 100th year, and they are trying to make it the last. As much as I understand the idea that it really is not an even playing field anymore, still, it is a 100 yr old tradition. and from time to time THS does win. It has always been a large community event. I just seems wrong that they would kill it. The kids in high school right now certainly do not want it to end. Even though they will likely lose the game. Even coming from the city who has been getting plastered lately, I hate to think it may end. What y'all think? Should 100 years of tradition take precedence over the desire to level the playing field?

anyone using firefox as a browser
I actually work for a MS gold partner and had to switch to FF when I.E. 8 came out. They broke 8 with the install and somehow "just reinstall windows." was not an acceptable fix for me. Same thing happened to my mother and a friend of mine. Both now use FF as well. I love MS but sometimes they are their own worst enemy.

Will this lure work?
You see the beer can lures they sell at Bass Pro? I would love to see if anyone bought them AND got a fish off them. That would be sweet.

Tackle box.
LOL I would go with the vest myself. I do a lot of trout fishing in the mountains. When you wade up all you got is what you can tack to your vest or fit in the pockets. When I went to bass fishing, I went the same route. I converted one of my buds to the same thing. I got a light version of everything I need on my life vest on thiose little zipline thingies. Pliers, knife, line cutter, little flashlight, long nose pliers. That way, when I need it, There is no need to reach for anything, it is right there on my vest. You can of course take it too far, and totally undermine the purpose of your vest.

10' jon boat vs. bass raider 8'
Anything that floats is a boat or a craft, I've fished off a Raider for years, this a great lil rig for what it's worth. I think Id rather have the Raider other then a jon, the Raider has more stability then a jon and will last just as long if properly taken care of. And yes I've owned both and my pick is Raider. Here's something might help him out...how much wake can the bass raiders take? I should say, what would be the threshold that you would say safe/unsafe comes at with them? I had a 1436 jon, I added a bilge to it, and really felt comfortable in waves up to 3 ft. 4 was pushing it. That being said it was RARE I ever had a wave come over the side.

Aluminum boat vs Fiberglass
This could turn into a religious war. LOL. Really, it goes down to what you like, what cash you have, and other variables. I went Aluminum (Tracker Proteam 175 txw) for a few reasons. 1. Price...the tracker was in my price range. I really want a boat new. I plan n owning it for a LONG time and I want to be the guy doing the maintenance. 2. Weight...I wanted a lighter boat I could tow with smaller vehicles without issue. 3. Hull... I did not want to worry about messing the gelcoat. I learned from my jon I can be abusive (not deliberately). Good example out yesterday ran it slowly over sandbar, brush pile, and some other things. I also have 4 kids and they like me to take them out and beach it so they can jump out on some of the islands in the lake. I can also patch aluminum myself, which is a plus. 4. Fuel efficiency...this goes to the weight, I can fly with a 60 hp OB, and I use a lot less gas than a similarly sized glass would use to get to that speed. For that, I had to trade off on being a kite on a windy day, some of the glass boats got some SWEET designs I really like, which I could not consider. As for longevity, there are some guys on here posting about glass boats they have from the 80's and 90's my bud has a trihull from the 70's. Like a lot of things they will last if you take care of them.

Anybody here had a vasectomy?
Yeah a year and a half ago, I chose between that or a double hernia surgery. Did the hernia surgery, after the 3 weeks of hell I went through after that...I have avoided doctors and especially operating rooms like the plague
