  1. Could you please elaborate on the nature of your problems with the Vengeance? Thanks!
  2. If Shimano is willing to supply a product rep for customer questions, they should be commended not disparaged. Perhaps other companies should follow Shimano's lead. Trust me, I'm no Shimano-bot.
  3. That was not my intent. Bargains can be found in better quality gear. Buy them one at a time. As I have often stated, all your fishing can be done with one rig, three are all you really need. This thread is about poor quality Quantum products. They have that reputation and it is well deserved. This thread simply serves as a warning. On a lighter note, I admit, I am a Tackle Snob... I'm the Sheriff of the Shimano Posse, fish Shimano reels. 8-) There was a point when Quantum made both good rods and good reels. Wasn't it the 1310 that was a standard reel for crankbaits in the early 90's?
  4. A significant number of each of Megabass, Evergreen and Daiwa Japan for quite a few applications. UFM is a bit difficult to acquire, although if I really wanted to I could use family connections in Japan. Deps and GanCraft, I really couldn't tell you why I haven't owned any. Why are they superior? Components, ergonomics, blank properties, design, balance, more to follow ...
  5. Using technology to improve performance is not gimmickry. To believe GLoomis is the pinnacle of rod craft is folly. Fill us in please. Who is at the pinnacle if Loomis isn't ? A quick list might include: Megabass, Evergreen, UFM, GanCraft, Daiwa Japan, Deps

  12. Hey, they have to cut those checks to the big names some how. I can't think of another manufacture with a pro staff like Quantum's. Then you have companies like Loomis and St. Croix that spend their money on making great products instead of advertising. What advancements has Loomis been part of in the past 10 years, Recoil guides?
  13. Cool little reels from my teenage years, though its not a Brush Buster. Brush Busters had no line carriage. that was a wisecrack, j
