Ike's new rod.... baitmonkey is going to kill for this one
I was referring to the color of the rod in the OP. Not long ago, there was a big rush to find an orange or black reel to pair up with the Carrot Stix. Now, other than the old stradics, where have you seen a production white reel? It matches reel well with the new Revo Premier and the STX and the Revo Elite.

UPDATE* E7 let down
Some Japanese manufacturers over grease their reels because American anglers don't maintain their reels well.

UPDATE* E7 let down
You may want to consider setting another brake. A single brake can cause the spool to become a little bit unbalanced.

which reel is better a citca or a revo in the similar price range
A study in the lack of credibility.

Pitching Rod for under $100
Pitching and cranking are polar opposites. You would be much better off getting two seperate rods for those two techniques. As for the pitching rod I think a Vendetta 7'3" HXF is a great rod for pitching jigs and plastics. Fat-G, Have you been fishing the Vendetta? I am going to buy a new rod for jigs and I was wondering about the feel and sen. of this rod. What other rod would you compare it to? I have been fishing a Vendetta 6'9" medium heavy, fast taper for a few trips at the end of last season and it handles extremely well with great sensitivity.

carry firearms while fishing?
We don't have rights in NJ. That being said, I don't believe I would carry if I could. A switchblade or extendable baton on the other hand ...

Abu Garcia Rod
I'd be more impressed if you knew these things swam passed your bait and you said you "felt" it rather than just reeling in proof and finding out then. I can do that with an Ugly Stik too. Did you mean to say you felt something and then after that found proof that it actually happened?? Yes. The sensitivity was remarkable. After I detected each event, there was proof of each event when my jig got back to the boat. Says a bit for the sharpness of the hooks, I guess.

Zillion 6.3:1 vs STX 6.4:1
It's not as far away as people as some are suggesting. Go to the TackleTour review between the Zillion, Quantum, Revo SX and the Shimano something or other. The SX came in a close #2 after the Zillion. That's the old SX against the Zillion. Beside what the old STX had over the old SX, the new STX has upgraded braking and superior drag performance. I've fished them side by side you really can't go wrong with either of those two reels.

Braid: leader or no leader ?
I haven't noticed too much of a difference either way. I'm lazy so I generally go without a leader.

New Abu Garcia rod?
The rod discussed in the thread is 6'6", it's got 10 guides, extra fast taper, medium action, weighs 3.4 oz. That's what I get out of it, along with the oohs and aahs.

using spray on scent
I use Gulp Alive crawfish, most often in cold water, always after a pickerel hits a bait.

Abu Garcia Rod
I use the Vendetta 6'9" for light pitchin' duties. A carp swam past my bait. How do I know it? I brought a nickel-sized scale back to the boat. A half dollar sized sugar maple leaf drifted past my bait. How do I know it? I brought it back to the boat hooked through the center. Yeah, under the weekguard. An inch long minnow swam past my jig. You know how I know it? I'm sure you guessed by now. I'd buy the Vendetta and pocket the other $70 knowing I'm the smarter guy with more money in his pocket and more fish in the livewell.

Revo SX vs. BPS Pro Qualifier
Bucket, it's great you live in Ohio ... you'll be closer to kick J-Mac in the rear end when the pq fails ... GO REVO That's K_Mac if you please. It would not be the first time I have been kicked, although I'm getting a little old for that sort of thing. Maintain your PQ properly and it will outlive me. The "J" was to see if you were payin' tention. Here's to wishing ALL of us outlive our tackle ...

High Speed reels?
Pitchin' is a whole 'nother world when you're using a speed reel. How many times have you drop a bait into veg or stump and the bass grabs that sum'***** right on the drop? I'll tell you what.

Revo SX vs. BPS Pro Qualifier
I am confident that the PQ uses quality components and will compare well with the Revo. I have a couple and will pick up a couple more before spring if I can find the cash. Lets talk again in a year or two. Give the PQ 2, give the Revo 30

Revo SX vs. BPS Pro Qualifier
Don't think of it only as a matter of price but also in terms of value. If you are happy with the Revos you currently own, why change? I'm not Kreskin but I would feel comfortable in my prediction that Revos will not only maintain value but will also last longer.

Work ethic
Without going into to much detail, I had a life changing medical situation occur when I was 27. I was born with the condition that caused it but it didn't become symptomatic until that time. From 27 to 42, I had about 30 jobs, 2 of which were long term 4 years and 2 years. I went to a technical school hoping I would be able to freelancer but even that didn't work out. I was forced to go on permanent disability because it was difficult to find a job and when I could find work, the medical condition would flair up and out the door would be I. I would trade my current situation to shovel ***** against the tide with a teaspoon for a dollar a day.

What conditions would the Firetiger color pattern be effective?
The old style (read Made In U.S.A.) Bomber 7A in fire tiger was a MUST HAVE!!! on the Hudson River. It was almost a powder-coat finish and it was a producer. Great stuff, good times.
