Shimano Scorpion reels
I had one and used it. The old style, both the 1000 and 1500 series. Eh, there are better, there are worse.

Snaps? Anyone use them?
snaps on cranks and jerkbaits, never a snap swivel
-
Are all Mojo Bass Rods this crappy or did I just get a bad one???
If you are throwing deep cranks exclusively, you may want to consider the Vendetta 7', medium/moderate. Same price range and a reasonable warranty.

Need help with organizing my tackle box ?
You might want to start by getting rid of what you don't need or haven't used in 2 years or more. Take the 3 tactics you use the most, for me that would be shallow cranks and topwater, pitchin' and finesse plastics. Shallow cranks and topwaters are combined because although they really aren't the same, topwaters generally replace shallow cranks when summer hits, then back to shallow cranks in the fall. I have a token amount of medium, deep and lipless cranks, just enough to get me through a situation that may arise. I don't Carolina rig or toss swimbaits, you should be getting my drift. You can get by with 3 colors of plastics from these choices: Black, watermelon, pumpkinseed, bluegill, purple, maybe a couple others. If you want really want to be hardcore, see if you can fit all your tackle in a Plano 1444 GUIDE SERIES box.

Anyone still using their older equipment?
My friend still uses his Ambassadeur 5500C from 35 years ago.

I tried to sell a couple of bags of the original, Flappin' Hogs when I first came here.

Abu Garcia Revo Winch
It wasn't really wasn't a problem with the drags. The drags just weren't comparable to the other Revos which were at about 24 lbs. The older Premiers were at about 9 lbs or equal to what most other manufacturer drags were normally. Really??? Well, I'm not sure how many that you own but 3 out of the 5 that I have are bad. The first year or year and a half the drag worked fine on all of my Premiers but then 3 of them just continued to become more and more weak. I can tighten the drag all the way down and pull line off by hand like its set to about one quarter of it's max drag when new. If your interested you can do a Google search and find all kinds if info. about Abu using only 2 drag washers on the 2 previous mentioned reels and what needs to be done to correct the problem. They used a cheap washer in these reels and they wear very quickly. So, yes there WAS a problem with the drag washers. Like I said earlier, I've read that Abu has corrected the problem in reels that now leave the factory. Yeah, they upgraded the drags to 20lbs

Shimano or Abu Garcia Bait Caster
Theres really only 2 manufacturers you should consider...Daiwa & Shimano. Which one all depends on what you expect the reel to do. A Curado is not going to do well with light stuff, you will need a baitcaster with a light spool for that type of work. Shimano has a few choices.,unfortunately the prices get up there. The Chronarch and the Core will throw light stuff well.,especially the Core. Daiwa has the Sol. If you don't intend to throw small light stuff, a Curado is fine. Theres really only 2 manufacturers you should consider...Daiwa & Shimano. Total loss of any future credibility based upon that statement. Neither Citica nor Curado is fit to bear the shoes of any Revo.

Abu Garcia Vengeance rod
I'll put it this way, the Vendetta would be a great rod @ $150.00. It would be an excellent rod @ $200.00. So be confident @ $80.00. Dance in the streets @ $50.00.

bout $385 actually it's about $435 at the current rate of exchange. The dollar is about $.92 to 1 yen. actually i was going off the price of the reel at http://www.marunouchishop.com/main/daiwa_e/ed_px_68.html . the price is listed as 36105 yen, that why i posted about $385. Sure enough, I was going off a 40000 Yen price. Your price is correct based upon the info you provided. As a matter of fact, I owe you one! My old MAC died about a year ago after 6 years of great service and took all my Japanese, French, German, Italian and Spanish fishing websites, blogs and vendors. I was thinking about this one yesterday as a matter of fact.

A dozen Old/Vintage Reels! What to do?
If the Zebco Cardinal 4s are in sound mechanical condition and cosmetically good condition they could fetch a dollar or two.

Abu Garcia Vengeance rod
That's the first time I've heard of that happening with a Vendetta. Try googling "Cumara broken tip" or "Crucial broken tip" both provide a wealth of reading material! My post on fighting was meant to be a joke, should have put some smileys after it. But anyway, what does a Cumara and Crucial broken tips have to do with anything? I don't recall anyone mentioning or asking about Shimano. Someone mentioned coming here seeking information about rods. I was simply pointing out it was the first time I'd heard about a broken tip on Vendetta but I had read about quite a few incidents with the Cumara and Crucial tips breaking. This "you dare not question Shimano" mentality causes more problems than any other on any forum. Don't think it's true? There's a PowerPro thread regarding roughness where guys are actually questioning how the guy set up his rod.

Abu Garcia Vengeance rod
Did I claim the Vendetta rods didn't break? No. I asked if the warranty was used. That's not misinformation or claiming it's better than a rod 3X it's price. 1. From *** review: Customer feedback on Shimano Cumara Reaction Casting Rods Comments:Got the 6'9 MH model not long ago and broke the rod tip right off on the second use, a highly touted product that failed miserably, far too lightly built, splintered like a dried out twig...not at all happy with Shimano. From:Zach: Michigan, USA 2. TackleTour Forum Re: Shimano Cumara by stefano » Sun Jan 11, 2009 10:08 am I had one The 6'8" Mh To begin with I found the tip to be ligth for a MH rod. My worst fear came to reality when while bringing in a 4lb. bass the tip snapped off. 3. Another forum Re: Shimano Cumara or Falcon Cara (aubassman) » 10:00 PM 2/11/2010 Reply Edit In my opinion, there's a big price difference between these two rods unless you can get the cumara discounted. i think i know where you are getting your falcons since you are in Auburn. you can get the cara's for $130-$160 and the cumaras are $200-$230 i believe. i haven't seen them discounted anywhere. i disagree that the cumara is a better built rod. i had bad experiences with the cumara, but i had great customer service on the ones i broke. the foam deteriorated in less than a year, the coating on the reel seat came off and i had few other problems. that is just my experience though. from the posts most folks have had very good experiences with them. i fished them for over a year and they weren't for me. that's just 3 from the first page. Texas Fishing Forum, Florida Forum, Louisiana Forum and Alabama Forums have similar tales of woe. The Vendetta performs beyond it's price point. I don't feel it's a fight either, just a disagreement.

Abu Garcia Vengeance rod
There is nothing I have stated that is false. I have no financial stake in Abu Garcia or Pure Fishing. You might want to choose your words more wisely and refrain from impugning anyone's integrity or honesty. I didn't make up claims of superiority of any brand any more than I made up claims of broken tackle. I backed up my point with evidence as opposed to innuendo and personal attacks.

Abu Garcia Vengeance rod
I have noticed it happens on certain manufacturer threads. Well, when a certain manufacturer's products are questioned as to their quality.
-
Abu Garcia Vengeance rod
The rods have a 3 year warranty, most manufacturer's defects become apparent within that time, in which case it's covered. Unless of course you're the type of person who would cheat on a warranty claim by sending something back that was stepped on or closed in a door or eaten by the dog.

Yet none of the Vendetta's referred to Vendetta rods, oh, except the Bass Resource thread, this one. Am I trying to say it? No, the proof is in the google! ;D

But a whole lot more than for Vendetta broken tips. More complaints about the Cumura and Crucial

I did a google search as you suggested for the Cumara. I wouldn't call it a "wealth of reading material". The 4th result was this thread... This was 3rd in my search with a whole bunch more pages bringing up the rear.
