  1. I understand that, I guess my point is pay attention to detail!
  2. Just a quick note regarding ANY spinning reel. Unless you're a factory trained rep or equivalent, you shouldn't be opening up a spinning reel. After time, the gears begin to mesh at a certain point and if not replaced precisely, you will get the grinding problem you are experiencing.
  3. Clunn's remark was actually quite condescending to the "average" angler. QUOTE: He's designing a square-bill crankbait for Luck-E-Strike that's along the lines of his renowned RC models produced by Lucky Craft. "I have a lot of people tell me they love that (RC) bait, but they can't afford to buy it," he said. "In reality, the Lucky Craft is a tool for serious tournament fishermen. The Luck-E-Strike bait will be marketed for guys who can't justify spending that kind of money, but still want a good bait." Source: http://www.another site.com/news_article.asp?ID=3810 Now, tournament angler or not, one of the reasons I go fishing is to CATCH FISH! If I want to spend $5.00, $15.00 or $150.00 to catch fish, that's my choice. I respect Mr. Clunn for his fishing achievements and have for a very long time. The political stuff from Mr. Clunn and Mr. Blaukat are truly getting on my last nerve.
  4. it's an oldie but why not the Daiwa SS1300?
  5. $150.00 for RCS? They're on sale for $50.00 @ Tackle Warehouse. They only run about $90.00 retail.
  6. *** THE FOLLOWING POST IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE ONLY OPINION BASED UPON PERSONAL RESEARCH. I AM NOT AN ATTORNEY. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AND THIS POST IS NOT A RECOMMENDATION TO EVADE TAXES!!!*** It boils down to ignorance of the Constitution and cost vs benefit ratio. http://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/91-0194.ZO.html It would APPEAR for it to be illegal for states to require a Use Tax on out of state purchases. You're a resident of the United States and have the right to make your purchases wherever you wish. I understand freedom of choice is a radical idea but nonetheless people should be reminded from time to time. The reason people choose to continue to pay Use Taxes is because it's still less expensive them than to hire attorneys and fight it to the Supreme Court. The path of least resistance is preferable to the boot of tyranny upon one's throat.
  7. Well, after some time, I decided on an Ibanez SR300M. Like the maple over the rosewood BUT there may be a Fender Jazz bass in the future. Got a Fender Bassman 250/210 amp to go with it. They must be discontinuing it or something, it was reduced down to $399. More importantly, it sounds great! Deep immersion for the past month, retraining the ear, rebuilding speed and dexterity and trying to learn some new techniques.
  8. I used 50# Berkley Fireline braid. I've tried a lot of braid, Japanese and American. Samurai isn't that great, I gave half a spool away for shipping costs.
  9. braid, no leader
  10. I would have to agree with the first half of your statement but totally disagree with the second. What are the first and second halves of his statement? ;D First Half: If you're going to spend $250 for a fishing reel, I certainly wouldn't rely on reviews from fishing websites Second Half: (especially that one - re: TackleTour) as a deciding factor.
  11. I would have to agree with the first half of your statement but totally disagree with the second.
  12. Spinning: 1. Toray Finesse braid 2. Varivas Finesse braid 3. Everything else Pitchin'/Flippin': 1. Berkley Fireline braid
  13. If thats not an opinion, can i hear the facts you have to back it up? I have a Bucoo its a great rod, i dont own a vendetta so i cant comment on them. -matt- Sure can! The Veritas is more sensitive and powerful. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewabuvendettavtc696.html
  14. IMO i think your wrong, my Bucoo blows the Vendettas away. I believe there's an old saying about opinions ...
  15. After a hiatus of almost a quarter century, I may be getting back into playing the bass in a band. It's guys from the way back, only one our group of four continued to play. It's a therapeutic thing, my doctors think it's a good idea, we shall see. Anyhoo, I'm looking for a used bass or inexpensive new because I'm uncertain of what will happen. In the sense of, it's a bit easier to continue playing guitar if the band splits but a bass is a bit harder. Are the brands that were decent 25 years ago, still quality? New brands I should be aware of or stay away from? Thanks.
  16. I have a few Vendettas and think they are fine. Sensitive and powerful, a bit heavy if 4.4 oz strains you. The new Veritas and Verdict rods are significantly lighter. The Boocoo might be a bit lighter but it's not a better rod.
  17. I couldn't use it. I found the 30lb test line wispy and not confidence inspiring. I also found it had a tendency to tip wrap.
  18. I used my Veritas for the past 6 months and absolutely love it! Great for flat-sided cranks and light topwaters especially.
  19. The clear leg in the air is a weed guard.
  20. ;D ;D ;D funny stuff! What's funny? Spending $400 from a pic, to me that's' hilarious or not believing there is bias. You would be better off from a Bass Resource review. Go check out the reviews of the new Loomis rods and leave the same observation. BTW, I fished the Morrum 1600 Ultra Max on the Ike reel is based. It competes.
  21. I hardly believe Recoil guides and late to the dance split grips are the stuff of which standard setting tackle is made of. Loomis had their day in the Sun.
  22. You also have to remember you're reading an individual's words without benefit of hearing the intonation of the words or seeing facial expressions. Emoticons or /sarc tags convey a little across but ultimately without the face to face communication there is a lot of misunderstanding and bruised feelings and egos.
  23. Where's the links to the other 34?
  24. or could it be the Daiwa Aggrest?
  25. great bait, yanked one out of retirement bin ...
