  1. If thats what you like, and are comfotable with, good luck.
  2. You can save a few bucks buy picking up an abu c4. The revo s is just a lighter, more low profile version of the classic c4.
  3. I have two of the high speed models, one is a burner, the other is a 631 speed that work fine under any condition. My wretched reel is the cranking version.
  4. I wouldnt reccomend it for cranking, the bps floro works better in a worm/finesse pattern.
  5. My problem with the revo s is not having a quick way to adjust brakes, it's basicly a shimano reel with a tricky sideplate. I'm not trying to start a reel war, but not everybody loves the advanced thing you call the VBS, which is as low ball, and far outdated version of braking. I chose the REVO SX after trying the S model for two reasons. 1. I dont always fish from a boat, 2. I dont have to guess which brakes to turn on, and off. The REVO SX is far superior because you can make adjustments without having to take the reel apart.
  6. Stay far away from the REVO S. That reel is a pos. If you want a revo go for the sx.
  7. I would recomend a baitcaster with a 7ft medium rod if you're new to top water. Spinning vs casting is a personal choice, I prefer casting because it offers more distance, less arm fatigue, and accuracy for me. This is something every fisherman has to figure out for themselves. I have two spinning reels. I use one for small cranks, wacky rigs, and weightless worms. I call my other spinning reel the crappie killer.
  8. I catch more fish with the 99 cent spinnerbaits from walmart. In the event one snags up, I'm only out a dollar bill. The blue/white tandem, chartruse tandem, and black/red single colorado work very well. I bought three or four of those five dollar/war eagle baits and have never got a bite.
  9. Save up a few more bucks an go with a revo sx $159.00. The revo s has a six pin brake which is fine if you're a shimano guy. The revo sx has a mag brake that out preforms the s model, plus a couple more bearings.
  10. I like both, I prefer the narrow spool abu c4 over calcutta's and cardifs. My low pros have a clear advantage over round reels when it comes to cast control. Most round reels with six pin brakes take a lot longer to adjust than low pro's, turning a dial beats taking a sidecover off any day.I love my revo sx, my wife is jealous of them at times, but at the same time my c4 fits perfectly in my hand. If anyone has a prodigy could you post some details about it?
  11. I use mono for topwater, 12lb mono for heavy cover, and floro for everything else. Every braid I have tried on my baitcasters never goes more than twenty feet before backlashing. I would reccomend BPS floro for everything but topwater. It costs a little more than mono, and most braided lines.
  12. This combo will work great for catfish, and stripers, but it doesnt have a brake system besides the spool tension. If you have to make constant long casts you'll throw your arm, and back out in thirty minutes. If you can scrounge up a little more cash check out the catmax combos at bass pro. You can get a 7mh,or a 76h for $90.00 the reel has a six pin brake and it holds d**n near 200 yards of line. Whatever you go with is up to you, I hope you get a chance to get your line wet, and hook up this weekend.

Looking for a club in springdale AR. I'm lethal with plastic worms and the like, but I need to learn how to jig, crank, and walk the dog.
  14. Try an overhead punch pull cast with the brakes at half, and the spool tension just under maximum. Most casual fishermen cant flip, or pitch so dont feel bad.
