  1. Where did you get your clackin rap? I want to know so I can show up with my sub walk that never works, and my x rap shad that swims right past schooling fish without hooking up.
  2. You got ripped off, try ebay next time. You payed above retail closeout price for that reel, I saw a new one still in the box for sixty bucks at the pawn shop yesterday.
  3. Thanks for the link. I had two of the old hank parker editions when they first came out, both of them got stolen along with a case of beer out of the back of my truck.I love round reels but hate six pin brakes, cabelas has the prodigy reel but I havent heard any feedback on it.
  4. After you feel a second bump on the line you can set the hook any way you want, and you dont have to do it the dramatic way all the tv guys do, or lay on the floor of the boat to lip every fish. I prefer a sideways jerk on all plastic and jigs, and a slight vertical on any lure with a treble hook, and spinerbaits set the hook for you.
  5. I wasted a lot of time and money on swimbaits and never got a bite. I cant offer any swimbait advice, but it looks like a good deal.
  6. How do you guys like these rods? About as much as g loomis, I can catch bass with a ten dollar walmart rod. The old timers in my club would have many laughs at your expense, call you rockstar, dummy, and that idiot who bought a mag/pro endorsed rod.
  7. Go with the SX, I know it's more money but you will get a reel that can fish any pattern/application with ease.
  8. If having to play around with vbs style brakes is your thing go for it. I'll be the guy with an stx,and sx reeling in fish while you play with your brakes. ps you can convert the skt model(yellow and black) by swapping spools and side plates with a sx. ;D
  9. It needs a mag brake, and a paint job.
  10. 12lb green mono on a revo sx works well.
  11. If the VBS system is so far ahead of mag brakes, why are so many retailers still trying to unload the silver curados at $199? I can get a revo sx for $149.00 that alone turns me away from a shimano. If I was on a budget a revo s still costs less than a citica. Also the patriarch has dual braking which means you waste more time pulling the side plate, then adjusting the mag.
  12. If you go to SW you can grab a abu spin combo for under $40 bucks that will introduce you into the world of bass fishing. If you get the baitcaster bug try the BPS megacast combo. Start with low end gear then work your way up depending on your addiction level, and wallet. Good luck, hope I helped, and get your line wet.
  13. Is your reel the $94 dollar reel from wally world? If it is just peice it back as best you can and take it back for a new one.
  14. Get the KVD version at BPS , it cost about ten bucks more than the standard reel but it has two more bearings and casts like a rocket. Stay away from the burner version of the standard reel.
  15. I can work on cars, build houses from the slab up, and many other things. I will never try to work on a fishing reel, especially handle side, I man enough to admit I made that mistake once. My advice would be to take your reels to a tackle shop. It's much cheaper than you think, I get mine done every six months with five reels for less than forty bucks.
